Not sure why the other reviews are so negative, but for my first ever FPS, this has great replay value. I largely play multiplayer and I have to say, I can never get tired with all the different game modes. Just love this game.

MW3 SPEC OPS/SURVIVAL ONLY REVIEW. Based on playing spec ops and survival modes co-operatively in split-screen, I can say that Modern Warfare 3 does not fail in this department. Based on playing spec ops and survival modes co-operatively in split-screen, I can say that Modern Warfare 3 does not fail in this department. Of course, the lack of staffing and time to produce this game has meant that, as with the multiplayer, a lot has been copied over from both CoD4 and MW2. However, the survival mode is something new- kind of a cross between spec ops and zombies. It's very simple but still fun to play, but is not as gripping or addictive as zombies in World at War, for instance. You face attack helicopters, riot shield juggernauts, juggernauts, attack dogs and ordinary soliders. Unlike zombies though, the number of enemies per round does not increase; rather their difficulty and the types of enemies does instead. You can purchase upgrades such as weapons, attachments, perks, killstreaks and even a squad to help you by earning money, and XP ranks you up so you can buy better stuff once you hit the top level 50. You rank up in both spec ops and survival, and as with MW2's split-screen multiplayer, your progression and unlocks are saved in survival/spec ops. The good thing about survival is how you can play them on all multiplayer maps, so it's not like zombies where you have only a few to choose from. Whilst survival makes a genuinely decent addition to co-op, spec ops only manages to copy over missions from the campaign and ideas from both CoD4 and MW2. If you've played them two games, you won't be surprised by anything here. Some missions they've made the copy and paste VERY obvious (like Mile Highjack being a direct copy of Mile High Club). In terms of variety, there is a fair amount. There are a good mix of missions here, not all completely different from each other but an entertaining mix nontheless, with quality being the same as Modern Warfare 2's spec ops missions. The difference is that in MW3 each mission has criteria for high score, which may range from explosion kills, sniper kills, headshots, accuracy time, difficulty etc. What's more, each mission has leaderboards for both co-op and solo, which is nice because it gives them replay value which MW2 lacked. The missions themselves are your usual mix of firing range time trials, bomb defusals, objective collection/extraction, hostage rescue, providing cover for teammate in AC130 or sniping, stealth and just run and gun action. The missions themselves are actually pretty fun in co-op and the variety means that if you're bored of one playstyle you can easily try another mission or have a crack at getting a higher round on survival. Make no mistake, Modern Warfare 3 is by far the best Call of Duty game yet for co-operative gameplay, but I somehow feel that it's below Call of Duty standards. Don't get me wrong, it's just as good as MW2's co-op, but while Modern Warfare 2 pushed and raised the boundaries, Modern Warfare 3 hasn't really done anything new. There's nothing you'll be amazed by at all, and you will frankly laugh at some of their attempts when they blatantly copied and pasted some stuff over such as a building in the CoD4 Pipeline map in one of the spec ops levels. Once you've played the missions a few times though, you will get bored of them easily. However, due to the great variety you may find a few you like, so you could spend hours trying to improve your leaderboard ranking. Personally if it was me, I would much rather spend that time improving high scores in CoD4's arcade mode, as the levels were miles superior to any spec ops mission in MW3. Overall, it's a credible component of Modern Warfare 3 and if you purchased the game for a reasonable price you will not be disappointed. It's a solid co-op, but nothing new or mind-blowing. It's a safe bet for a co-op, but nothing special. Expand

It's multiplier gameplay falls short but this installment serves up the excitement and hype surrounding it. It's campaign is definitely flawed, but still passes. The main concern, however, is the lack of co-ops which causes this game to be more of a temporary delight that a long-term game to be played.

(Hint: think about sailing on the river of a major city, with lots of activity and effects around you it looks grand!). I think the story is more sober. It continues on MW2, but the motivations are more exposed to the player. For example, there are high-importance hostages involved and the player is closer to the centre of the story. The multiplayer has at least one new game mode that makes it more interesting than MW2. 'Kill Confirmed' is a team deathmatch where kills only count if someone gets to the killed enemy and collects a 'proof' that the kill happened. This introduces an element of strategy and intelligence, because the bodies could be protected by enemies, and there's a payoff if you get hit right after you collected a proof or maybe two. You can also cancel enemy kills by reaching team member bodies. I thought this game was a cool improvement on MW2, but only as long as you're looking for more of the same, and EXACTLY that. Expand

In all seriousness there is simply no way that the game deserves a pathetic score like that and whilst people are entitled to their opinions it's laughable to suggest MW3 is a terrible game because it's far from it! Now that's over, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Or Call of Duty MW2 Part 2 to the haters. It was a given that this outing would pick up from the events of it's predecessor and it does exactly that with Nikolai flying the injured Soap and Captain Price to safety however that's short-lived because when chief antagonist Anatoliy Makarov resurfaces and with the world seemingly at war it doesn't take long for the twosome to get back in action. In all honesty the single player campaign is a continuation of MW2, so yes, it carries on the farfetched story but all the while entertaining you nonetheless. In terms of game play nothing major to report the shooting system has always worked and is arguably the best around when it comes to the FPS genre one of which leads to the demise of one of the MW franchise's most iconic characters however for me personally it didn't have the impact it should have especially giving how important a character this unfortunate individual was throughout the trilogy. Unfortunately the people at Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer haven't addressed the length of the solo campaign which again comes in at the 6-7 mark and even more so they have failed to fix the ridiculous AI of enemies as they can amazingly waltz by your team-mates just to pop a round in your head! I was disappointed actually by the lack of new innovations in the game as i'd like to see CoD continue to move forward for e.g. a cover system would have been fresh however it doesn't prevent you from enjoying the ride. The one thing that MW3 does deliver on is it's action packed set-pieces and it does it better than any of it's rivals and in doing so it does engross you throughout whether it's a thrilling train-journey under the British Parliament, witnessing the destruction of the Big Apple or even the collapsing of the Eiffel Tower and that brings me to the visuals it's not close to competing with the very best such as Uncharted but it still does the business for Call of Duty. The one area where Infinity Ward and co continue to thrive upon and deliver the goods is the Online/Multiplayer. People had complaints about MW2 and I wasn't overly impressed by it but MW3 is redefined and plays a treat so be prepared to say goodbye to hours upon hours of your social life its addictive as ever. Again there's nothing new game mode wise the usual suspects online like Free-For-All, Team Death match and all the favourites that entertain us for hours on end are there again but now the guys at CoD have introduced Call of Duty Elite, is it a con for your money, probably but what it does is allows you to improve your game as well as compete in year round competitions for prizes and earn XP its not essential although i'd imagine a fair few might be purchasing it at some point. On top of that Spec-Ops returns for a second outing after it proved to be a success in MW2 and again it's a delight and gives the game plenty of life and to top it off thereâ Expand

Almost every shooter now is like Call of Duty. Stop buying this crap, it's the most generic shooter out there, and it's not even that good. The only people that like it are casual gamers that do not have skills to play a real shooter. CoD takes no skill t pay what-so-ever. I play shooters all the time, and the fist time I played MW2 I got first place, and that was the FIRST time I played CoD. The reason why people don't like battle field is because that game actually takes skill to play, my 5 year old cousin plays C0D and wins. Call of Duty sucks, I do not care what anyon says. Call of Duty is for casual gamers or girls. The game is only good if you suck at shooters, and want to feel good about yourself wen you kill someone. WWIII has broken out, and it's up to you to find the man responsible for it, Makarov. Soap and Captain Price returns, and since is the final chapter in the MW series, you'll see how it all concludes. Honestly, only those who played the previous games will enjoy it. Everyone else will have no idea what's going on.

Multiplayer is the same thing from previous games. You have now "Support" streaks, where if you die, you don't lose your streak; it carries over between deaths. The problem is that it's said to help your team, but one "Support" streak is a Stealth bomber, which hurts the other team. That's supposed to be in the "Assault" streaks, which is the traditional killstreak structure. Nothing else much here.

What I did like though is "Survival" mode, where you must fend off waves of enemies on various maps. I spent most of my time, here. But this wasn't enough to justify the $60 price tag when it came out.

Call of Duty does the same thing year after year; it's not worth paying $60, but now it's cheap; a new one is now like $20. I think that a perfect price for this game, so go get it.

Unfortunately it took about half of the time I spent playing before something interesting actually happened, it took me until the level with the sandstorm to not get bored for a while. Then after that. The game once again starts to become less and less interesting. It took me a little under seven hours to complete the campaign on veteran. It might just be a matter of perspective but I thought it was much more fun in MW2 playing as the Rangers as apposed to MW3's DF. The graphics aren't much different then MW2. In fact they're exactly the same. Nothing has improved. You even see some of the same objects that were in MW2. Sounds of guns are okay but I have run into a few situations where the game will mess up and I'll hear a static-ish screeching that will force me to turn my sound all the way down until it stops. Half of the music flat out sucks. It's probably the worst soundtrack of any of the CoD series. You hear the delta force music so much that the mute button on your TV actually becomes useful. On to the multiplayer. In my eyes MW3 is slightly better then the camp fest known as MW2. It's no CoD4 but it's decent. Until the lag hits. Wow this game lags far worse then Black Ops ever did online. This company has made over a billion dollars from the Call of Duty name and they can't get better servers? The constant freezing in games and lag makes this game a joke. Just like Black ops and MW2 a lot of the maps in the game feel like they were designed to suck. This game's online interface has taken a huge step back from where BO was going too. The lack of in depth stat tracking and MW3's terrible theatre, which for some reason doesn't work for me half of the time (Out of Memory.) . I feel like whoever was working on the MP aspect just threw stuff together and called it a day. All in all. This game is below being what could be considered mediocre at best. The campaign blows. Survival should have been 4 players, and the online is really laggy. There aren't even dedicated ranked servers, that is pathetic when other shooters pull that off with less revenue. This game doesn't deserve a 0 or 1, it can be fun, it also in no way deserves a 10, or 9 for that matter. I'm giving it a 5. Everything in this game that felt good, something else just was plain awful or lackluster. Expand

I think I liked this campaign better than the BF3 one because of those moments even though it is short. I played this on hardened and got through it in about 5 hours so that is sorta disappointing. Graphics wise MW3 doesn't disappoint but still they could have stepped it up after Battlefield. I think that also has to go with the sound grenades are the best example I died most in multiplayer because I could barely hear the grenade. Spec Ops is also back it has missions based around the story and a new survival mode which sees you fighting off waves of enemies and able to call in air support and but ammo, guns and grenades. It's nothing special but it will keep you occupied for a couple of hours. As always the longevity in COD comes from the multiplayer. Here is the downside with this game it is exactly the same 1 new mode some new weapons and exactly the same style. You may as well play MW2 because this just has a new skin attached. The new maps feel like copies also. Overall the MW3 provides a solid single player experience and very old multiplayer experience.
    The Scores

Sound=6-The sound design sounds exactly like MW2 and that just is not enough
Value=5-There is a good amount of singleplayer but the multiplayer is where the longevity usually is but not this time
Story=7-Great moments but the story like the other games is way to confusing
Gameplay=7-This is a raw barebones shooter with fun gameplay but no depths
Overall=32/50-MW3 is now becoming a dated experience but provides some good fun.

Starting with the campaign, it is the best one of the series, with lots of near death experiences and large explosions. Although, it seems to much like it's predecessor. Spec Ops mode returns, with 16 missions featuring various objectives to be completed, much like Modern Warfare 2. The survival mode seems fun at first, but after a few games, it becomes apparent that it is basically a rip-off of Call of Duty Zombies mode. Now on to the multiplayer, yes, the multiplayer. At first glance, it seems fantastic, brand new gun proficiencies, a new killstreak system, and new maps. But if you dive deeper, you'll find that over half of the guns are from the two previous Modern Warfare's and a couple from Black Ops. The gun proficiencies are just perks that were in previous Call of Duty games that could not be fit into this one. The killstreaks are mostly the same with new names. The only ones that strike me as brand new are the osprey and the juggernaut. The maps are just downright boring compared to Modern Warfare 2's. This may be a harsh review, but it's the truth. If your a hardcore Call of Duty fan, then you'll probably buy this game regardless of what you read. But know, you were warned. Expand

The setting and scenarios are familiar, but ramped up to 11 with a fantasy World War 3. The well-loved characters from the previous Modern Warfares are back (Soap & Price) but there is little connection felt with the others, particularly the new playable protagonist Yuri. Multiplayer is all that you've come to expect, which is both a good and bad thing.

Today the formula just doesn't stand up anymore, especially at the 60 dollar price point. The format is too old now and its long standing issues are really not acceptable anymore (like getting killed via Killstreak bombing two seconds after spawning). Problem 1) The single player campaign is absolutely terrible - bad writing and poor musical score plague the experience as it cribs off of the previous Modern Warfare titles in a very sterile manner. 2) Multiplayer's new modes (Kill Confirmed) feel like hackish mods, completely unacceptable for a product that sells at full price. For such a derivative title, it should NOT be selling for 60 dollars. It's worth maybe about 40 dollars, including all of this year's DLC map packs for free. The game looks terrific from a graphics and sound stand point, but the gameplay is ancient and its design problems legion. Personally, I think all of this year's military themed FPS games kind of suffer from this, and if developers don't want to come up with anything new, then fine. Just don't charge full price. Avoid. Anyway now to my review ( multiplayer only ) . The game feel is pretty good as is the presentation. The weapons somehow dont feel as visceral as before and the sound isn't as apparent. Maybe this was to tone down sound whoring. Only time will tell. The different packages are good for different players and indeed different game modes. In game modes where death is quick and easy like FFA then support is great as you get to call in UAVS and such with regularity. It is a pain to see UAVS , Choppers and sentry guns flying in far too much but the game has several counter measures. Namely Counter UAV ( duh) or assassin. SAM turrets for those perky choppers as well as EMP grenades for the sentries. This goes along with the obvious counter measures employed in mw2. The game modes currently are far more extensive and feature my all time fave 'mosh pit'. 99% of the players still play TDM for some reason meaning I couldnt find a game in lonely old Taiwan. The weapons feel similar to mw2 and indeed drop people as quick as they would in mw2 (minus SP ) . The UMP so far seems even steadier than mw2 and the m4 is a solid weapon ( resembling the scar in mw2) . I havent yet unlocked all the extras like bouncing betties and claymore but suffice to say Im satisfied with the weaponry. The perks are solid enough and do what they should do . They offer a little help. It doesn't feel like they dominate the game. The levels so far feel a little clustered. There is a lot of tight alleys and some annoying abstacles. One level has a hole in the middle of it and people just kept getting stuck at weird angles. Id like to say there are better levels if you play larger game modes like Ground war or such. Anyway I'd give it an 8.5 if I could as I love it as a new version on mw2 . I can however see why people would be disappointed in its stationary stance on developing the franchise. Overall : Great but not genre shattering! Expand

So these FPS games are only as bad as there intended target group. The main reason why i enjoy MW3 is because it's manic, it starts i shoot > throw a grenade here and there and just go mad in general. It's a good shooter. I like it. The campaign is actually pretty good. The plot is laughable but still I enjoyed playing it. Survival is okay but it gets tiresome after a while (one problem is, it gets too difficult too quickly, so it's kind of frustrating). Now online play is pretty nice, you have like 13 out of 16 maps playable (for all I know they could be all playable on alternative modes), and they're all pretty great. Definitely much better than the maps on Black Ops 2. The weapons are all pretty balanced (I think it's only realistic that LMGs never get any use in the actual online play), and you rarely find cheaters so it's all pretty good. My only real complaint is lack of bots for single player, but I can live with that. Expand

I know that it has been in previous games but this is where COD has an advantage over Battlefield. The online is fun and single player is good as well. That is why I don't think the user score is deserved. I can't compare it to previous games since I didn't play many previous COD games but a fps cannot change that much. The online cannot change from game to game in my opinion unless a new mode or different point system is implemented. I think the only things that can change are the campaign and single player modes. I don't know how people can ask for a lot of change from one fps game to the next that is not really story driven. This game really doesn't deserve all of the hate it is getting. I'm 99% sure that most of the people hating on this game are just Battlefield fanboys. But it's still the same Call of Duty formula, and it's just a well made, good game. The singleplayer is rubbish, so I won't cover that in this review, I'll just cover the multiplayer. The multiplayer is fun. And is a lot better than the absolutely atrocious game that Call of Duty: Black Ops was. Infinity Ward knows their stuff. This game is quite different in terms of classes and the way you level up now. Now not only do you level up, but so do your weapons. And you unlock different weapon upgrades as you gain weapon levels. I think it's a smart system, and a lot better than the terrible COD points system in Black Ops. Also new is the gun proficiencies. No there is no Warlord perk or some other perks that I forgot about, now they are proficiencies. Instead of warlord you have the attachments proficiency which let's you have two attachments on your weapon. And now there is no equipment section. Not claymores and other detection triggered explosives are under lethal equipment(the same category as frag grenades) and tactical insertion and other things are under tactical equipment. The few improvements that Infinity Ward made are really good, and make the multiplayer a lot of fun. Spec ops has a new mode called survival. But to be honest it's not that great. You can only have two players in it and you can call in a squad of bots which aren't that great. The survival could've been a lot better, but it's a lot more addictive than zombies, because the levelling up adds a new reason to play. You still buy weapons, but you have to be at a certain level to actually be able to buy them. I think it's a great system on an only ok survival mode. The bottom line is that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is no revolution, and it certainly isn't an incredible game. What it is is a fun, polished and well made shooter that will keep your attention for a while. The private matches work fantastically and it's a breeze to invite your friends to one. I don't LOVE MW3, but I certainly do like it. It's not my favourite game, but it's a game that I'll occasionally get out to play. Expand

A brown, boring, repetitive, poorly paced, poor production value, poorly made, poor story, stale, not challenging, bland characters, poor story, and insultingly short game was the biggest entertainment launch of all time, yet games like Resistance 3 aren't even given the time of day because Tommy **** is killing another brown person. Resistance 3 is a great shooter, it has no regenerating health, no cover mechanics and 10 weapon slots, capturing the spirit of the by-gone age of shooters (Half-Life 2, Serious Sam, Painkiller) with a great story, brilliant multi-player and a truly unforgettable story, is shunned because MW3 came out within the same few months. Now I don't hate MW3 because it's brown, boring, repetitive, poorly paced, has poor production value, is poorly made, has poor story, is stale, not challenging, with bland characters, a poor story, and only 7 hours long, I hate it because of what it represents. 'Hey, Infinity Ward, do you mind if I don't play the multi-player and instead play the single-player only?' 'No! Because we spent all our 6 months of hard work on changing the textures, character models and programming routines of COD4's multi-player and releasing it again in MW3, and if you only play the single-player you will realize that you spent $60 on a handful of multi-player maps, so do you mind if we force you to play multi-player?' 'Kind of do, Infinity Ward' ' I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of all my MONEY!' I can tell you this: there are two kinds of games in this putrid world of ours, those who are made mainly because developers thought it would be a lovely thing for everyone to play (Limbo, Bastion, Psychonauts) and those who are made mainly because the developers thought it would be lovely to add another ballroom to their golden money palace (BioShock 2, Dragon Age 2, Kane and Lynch 2). And you know how I can tell MW3 is in the second camp? Because it has a '3' on the end of it. It's a sequel to a sequel that never needed a sequel, it was fine on its own! But because Innovation to Infinity Ward is what cheeseburgers are to a lactose intolerant Hindu, we are left with this pile of old wank that got an 88 Metascore and we're all left scratching our head. You know, sometimes things our popular for a reason, because they're good, or because Will Smith is in it, but because MW3 is neither of those two, I am left wondering why MW3 was critically acclaimed and on top of that, was the biggest entertainment launch of all time. It saddens me, there have been so many better games, and it still would of angered me if MW3 was at least decent, because decent games don't deserve this much money thrown at them as if they are linked to the pneumonic plague, and after playing Resistance 3 and that Hard Reset thing which is like Painkiller if they chose one of Phillip K.Dicks most incomprehensible plots, it mystifies me how people think MW3 is a better shooter. Oh, but nobody gets CoD for the campaign, it's for the pvp! Yes- true enough, and guess what- MW1 still did it better. I have to give them props though- they've found an amazing way to milk suckers out of their money with zero effort; and look at how games everywhere are becoming crap as they try to emulate this money for nothing style of developing.

Any fps should have to pass 2 tests: The pistol test. Can a great player win with a pistol? The unlock test. Is the game balanced enough to make a level 1 player be able to compete evenly?

I'm not bad at CoD, best killstreak in MW2 was 32 kills. Still, very disappointed. I thought that the graphics would improve over MW2, but no. I'm sick of this game too, but maybe you aren't. If you are still playing a CoD game then you probably will like this game too. Hell, we all like CoD, but there is NOTHING new here! The worst part about these games are the maps. In 1 week I know that I'll have every single corner memorized and the game will be a major repetition festival. Not at all interested in forking out more money for DLC maps that should have already been included. ALSO BIG NEGATIVE - There are more maps than you'll ever see included with this game, for some reason the devs don't run every map in every game mode so you more than likely will never play more than 4-5 maps unless you play every single game mode for hours a day. Overall, dedicated servers are a necessity if I'm every going to buy another CoD game, and I won't buy another one on this generation of consoles because they obviously aren't going to try, or can't improve the graphics over MW2. Last point, I bought the DLC for Black Ops and it was pointless. Over 2 months I never once got to play any of the DLC maps because the people I was playing with (random) obviously didn't buy it and there is no way to choose which map to play in. Yeah, I'm completely done with this series without dedicated servers or a guaranteed way to play ALL the maps. I know Infinity Ward broke apart and there is some kind of fan boy war over this game and BF3 (I do not have or play BF3 because I heard it sucks) but I don't care about any of that. I just want the ability to play ALL the maps in the game without having to play 8 hours a day 5 days a week in order to get lucky enough to get the rare maps that never get played. And, I want an improved graphical experience for each new game. Neither of those conditions have been met with MW3. So, basically the commercials with Jonah Hill were cool but, yeah MW3 is so much just MW2 with new killstreaks and maps. If that makes it for you then buy it. If not then please play Dark Souls, the more the merrier.

It gets a 2 because I expected much more having played MW2 and Black Ops. If you've never played a CoD before then it'll be great for you. I imagine the negatives are from people who've played this game before.

The Map designs are generic, its all been seen before. The Sound effects are good, but can get very, very annoying. Guns don't sound realistic, I would know I'm in the army. Its like a Michael Bay movie, explosives everywhere and alot of action, but my god is the story different no.

Multiplayer is the worst part about the game. It feels like a Map pack to MW2, the maps have the same basic design, You will constantly respawn in front of enemies, You can still shoot through thick steel or brick walls but can't shoot through paper thin materials or thin wood. The Perks are pretty much all the same. Killstreak system is different a bit, but my god, you don't feel rewarded in any way cause the killstreaks are handed out like your at some charity event. The Guns are very unbalanced, with some guns having very little fire power then others. The Attachments are very much the same. Its full of cheaters.

There was no effort put into this game, recyled material, untalented developer team who just physically can't think of anything new to do to the series.

All I can say is, if anyone actually still buys MW3 after reading all the negetive reviews, then they are a very boring bunch of people who want to play the same thing over and over again. There are way better games out there to play then this cheap peice of crap. I couldn't find many positives about this game, the voice acting was good and the multiplayer had some fun moments at the start, but I really couldn't believe how fast this game got boring. Feels like the multiplayer is more about getting killstreaks for yourself, the game does not encourage team work at all. Haven't played the BF3 singleplayer yet, but the Multiplayer is 100 times better then MW3 and way better then any other multiplayer i've ever player, get BF3 or just start player MW1 or 2 again, atleast you can get more fun out of those games. I see a lot of non stop Modern Warfare 3 versus Battlefield 3. Well if people get to compare those completely different games, then I get to compare Modern Warfare 3 with Black Ops in an all out multiplayer only cage match review:

    Maps:

Black Ops comes with 12 maps that vary in size and shape. Some maps have wide open vistas with a few buildings for close quarters. Other maps are condensed and smaller. There are a few medium sized maps as well. The maps tend to suit all play styles with close quarter areas, and long range sniping grounds, as well as medium range assault rifle locales.

Modern Warfare 3 comes with 16 maps that are cramped and claustrophobic and labyrinthine. There are some occasional medium range areas. There is no real place to camp or take a breather. The maps tend to be rewarding to the run and gun play style, while punishing the cautious and camp styles. Guns: The guns in Black Ops have differences. While there are a handful of guns that are best for most situations, any decent player can excel with any of the guns available. For long and medium range shooting, controlling the recoil is key to successfully hitting the target. The guns of Modern Warfare 3 have almost no recoil. You can aim a gun at an enemy and fire full auto without any problems. Also the maps are close quarters, so you wouldnâ

Online is the same as always, long, fun and progressive, but it is sort of the same as MW2 online, (except for the maps). Survivor mode is the highlight of the game for me, what is more fun than mowing down hundreds of enemies. On a map like resistance its quite a calm level where you just have fun killing people, (until wave 26 when you get like 3 juggernauts, 2 helicopters a ton of attack dogs and suicide bombers as well as the normal guys who are heavily armoured anyway). but on a map like lock down, you need to be on your toes as the enemies get harder quicker. Survivor mode is great fun and every map is great.

Special ops aren't as good as they were in MW2 but they are still good, i particularly like the stealth ones. but some missions are just a bit to hard and get annoying when you keep on dying, but still, the special are good.

    Survivor mode = 10/10
    Campaign = 9/10
    Online = 8/10
    Special ops = 9/10
    Avg. score = 9/10

I would of give this a 9, but instead a 8 because it doesn't go that far as a "sequel" and just seeing every ones negative reviews also makes me want to lower the score. But personally i still think its good. Honestly i never played as much COD multiplayer as this one, simply addicting.

Modern Warfare 3, though not as good as it's predecessors, is a fantastic game. It's a bit similar to MW2 but hey, it's Call of Duty. What do you expect? A hack and slash game with a bit of RPG element? You came to the wrong place.

Modern Warfare 3, though not as good as it's predecessors, is a fantastic game. It's a bit similar to MW2 but hey, it's Call of Duty. What do you expect? A hack and slash game with a bit of RPG element? You came to the wrong place.

Call of Duty gives you more of the same, like many other franchises, and that's what Call of Duty should do. People talk about how Call of Duty should change but no one contributes any ideas and the formula sells so why change it? Hence why there are so many negative reviews here and you can tell some just follow the bandwagon, not having an open mind or an opinion for themselves.

The compelling campaign and stellar multiplayer modes is what makes Call of Duty. Call of Duty can become a football game but then it wouldn't be Call of Duty and the franchise has enough b****es jumping on the bandwagon, boycotting the franchise and using the same excuse to hate the franchise every year "it's the same thing", so change is not going to solve anything. If anything, it'll make it worse.

Even if they use a newer engine, with loads of haters complaining about the "dated" graphics (graphics isn't everything y'know), there would still be haters. Same amount as it is today. It runs consistently at 60 FPS which makes up for it's graphics, it's not the best but it still looks good.

Consistent frame rate is required for competitive play rather than graphics that makes you go "wow" and there are loads of better looking games such as Uncharted as well as Final Fantasy. Because that's what makes Call of Duty the fast-paced, addictive shooter that it is today. What makes Call of Duty the most famous shooter?

Simple, this game offers what very few games offer, you know, sometimes there's nothing like running around stabbing people or quick scoping and running while shooting on all directions. Call of Duty does that better than any game, that's what the fans like and that's the right answer. There are many worse games out there. Prison Break: The Conspiracy, Terminator: Salvation and Killzone (PS2) are just some of the games that are worse than Call of Duty.

Survivor Mode is an addition to the already seen Spec Ops. It's not original but it's a great addition to the franchise that surpasses zombie mode in Treyarch's Call of Duty. Enemies don't spawn in the same place. Instead, they move tactically based on your current location so you can camp in one spot and shoot all the enemies but you can't do that forever. It lets you practice all the weapons seen in multiplayer so the skills that you've learnt can be extrapolated and transferred into multiplayer, Call of Duty's highlight feature. Zombies is just for fun but it's not really that fun anymore now that Modern Warfare 3 has Survival Mode and, hopefully, we'll see it again in Infinity Ward's next Call of Duty (presumably titled Modern Warfare 4).

Multiplayer has some great new modes that adds more depth into the multiplayer mode. Infected is like zombies and it's really intense as well as addictive. It's a fun mode for those who don't care about their KD ratio. Kill Confirmed is another good one, it's TDM but you collect dog tags that counts as a kill. This is a bit more team based mode as opposed to the regular TDM where players are free to wonder about.

Killsteaks is revamped so it's now called Pointstreaks. Kills doesn't just count towards your Killstreaks anymore. Completing objectives such as planting bomb or capture the flag counts towards Killstreaks and this encourages players to play the objective in objective based game modes.

Killstreaks are organized into three different strike packages. Assault for chopper gunners, Support for UAV and Specialist for more perks. These are also customizable so you can have one class where you have the Assault packages and in the other class, you can use Specialist so you don't have to go back to the menu to change your Killstreaks; just customize them from your existing classes.

There's a lot of features in Modern Warfare 3 that haters fail to see. Prestige Shop encourages you to prestige. You get a token every time you prestige and you can use that token to buy double XP as well as an extra class. Each weapon has Proficiencies, which is basically perks, and you can only use one at a time. You can have one where you can add an extra attachment, one that reduces recoil and many more.

Overpowered perks and dolphin dive, seen in Black Ops, have been removed so the game is more balanced. Infinity Ward fixes bugs and glitches unlike Danger Close, who did a bad job with Medal of Honor: Warfighter. With that being said, Modern Warfare 3 has gone above and beyond the Call of Duty with an amazing campaign as well as stellar multiplayer modes.

FPS fans, don't miss out. Call of Duty lives up to the hype, and this game is how Call of Duty evolves. IW takes a streamlined approach, which is why MW3 isn't as good as MW2 and Call of Duty 4. But still, IW did a good job with the Call of Duty franchise.

not only does this game suck, but the people playing it suck as well. You have your typical 5 y/o, the 1337 quickscoper, the 5 y/o quickscoper, the clan of 5 y/olds, campers and the one who complains about lag. Upon that, these CoD fanboys will defend MW3 rigorously if you say Battlefield 3 is better, they reply to every argument like an atheist giving reasons why god cannot exist to a theist

This wasn't a bad game, it was just the same thing as MW2 which was upsetting, it had the same exact guns and gameplay, the only things that were different was the maps, and the campain. the only thing that was exciting about this game was the spec ops. If you love MW2 then you will love this, but if you don't want to buy the same game twice, don't waste your time

Call of duty has been using the same engine and the same formula for 9 years now. It's beyond ridiculous. This game is no different than mw2. Oh sure, slap a few maps, few new modes, pull a campaign out of your ass, slap a pricetag and it's good to go. Just make sure "call of duty" is on the box so all the little kids know what to buy. Sad thing is, a good PC gamer could easily just mod MW2 to make it exactly like MW3. It's not hard since they're already identical. It wouldn't be so bad if it was selling for half the price, but $60 is just a complete rip-off. However way you look at, it could've been sold for 15 and they would STILL make profit. I'm glad this game is getting ripped to shreds on metacritic, it's good to know that there is some people who have class, decent taste, and some sense of value. Expand

They are using the same formula and this look like another mw2 dlc. Yet this game had lacked improvement. This game is overall meh.

There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class. The engine's definitely in need of an overhaul, but when it comes to thumping set-pieces and addictive multiplayer design, Modern Warfare 3 is still in a league of its own.
