This game is such a surprise! And a damn good one The graphics are nice, the story with this old and funny bounty hunter losing his mind talking about his past is just hilarious, and the arcade experience gives to Gunslinger a pretty original taste. I can't wait for the next one! The worthy heir of Django Unchained in video games, my two cents!

Gunslinger is a pure shooter experience that should be played by any fan of the FPS genre. It's humor makes the ride all the more enjoyable with the narration throughout the game being akin to the also wonderful game, Bastion. If you want a short but thrilling romp though the old west that requires a quick trigger finger and not much else, be sure to download this gem.

A very effective FPS that takes back Call of Juarez where it should have forever stay, the Far West. The story is a classic in the Old West, one of vengeance and you can anticipate the conclusion fairly in the beginning of the game, but where the game shines is in its storytelling with the narrator than really "creates" things in the environments. It will take you approximately 6 hours to finish its story, which is good for the price.

As for the gameplay it's a good FPS with use of slow motion, different style between rifle, shotgun, colts, etc. with some skills to unlock. It was pretty fun although a bit repetitive.

All for all at this price, it is a very good game that will please all of FPS lovers with a great deal of fun and some other modes that can take some your time as well.

Call of Juarez Gunslinger is a triple AAA title at psn store prices and is a return to form for the series after the okay but modern take of the last game the Cartel. Returning to its roots as a westerns cowboy shooter. The game Gunslinger is fun amusing highly playable and packed with content too. The graphics look great too with a cell shaded look from the high quality techland 5 engine. The game has 3 separate game modes the Campaign the Arcade mode and a Duels/ Showdowns mode. First of all the campaign you play as a drunk story telling Gunslinger by the name of Silas Greaves the story telling and character is humorous likeable and can spin a good old western tale like in the dime comics of old. There are 14 chapters with a reprise each with a story new characters enemies and dynamically changing level design although the level design is open plan linear and not open world the game does not suffer at all from this as the dynamically changing areas keep things fresh and interesting. After each area you will usually face of for a show-down with various outlaws and villains that have crossed your path in the story these show downs are great fun and are challenging to complete on harder difficlty settings. there are collectibles in the form of Nuggets of Truth which contain a trading card style picture with historical real world information memoirs on various outlaws weapons and locations from the old west there are 54 in all to collect of which you can collect about half without too much trouble the remaining nuggets require deeper exploration of the levels. upgrade-able play-stlyes are also available with various sets of upgrades and weapons from long range rifle shooter ,dual pistol wielding hombre, to close range Shotgun The old Focus mode is also still there. Guns enemies and locations are many and varied. Arcade Mode is a totally separate mode were all areas upgrades skills and weapons are unlocked in arcade mode only with scores uploaded to online leader-boards Although some areas are used from the story mode the layout of enemies and encounters seems too be more random and significantly more challenging on arcade mode is it should be too be the best gunslinger too get a top place on the leader boards. Finally Duels mode is also a leader-board scored mode were you face off with various outlaws and collect points for the speed of drawing your gun and shooting the outlaw how focused you were and if you killed the outlaw honorably after he attempted to draw his own pistol. Packed with content and with new game True west mode unlocked after completion which is hardcore mode with limited h.u.d Techland have released a quality title at a good value price which has all the atmosphere of the old western movies dark humor and great fun Recommended for all players.8.5 Expand

15€ on psn, this is a little price for a very good shooter, with a fun storytelling, and nice graphics !
8/10 for not_another FPS, but a good arcade game in western country.

I really enjoyed this game, more than I thought I would. Nice 6-7 hour romp through the Wild West with a pretty solid narration/story as you go. Good fights and areas, nice duels, good pacing.

Pure, arcade-style shooter fun. There's a surprising amount of content for a downloadable game. For $14.99 you get a fully fleshed out campaign and two other modes. Multiplayer unfortunately isn't one of them, but that isn't really a bad thing here. "Gunslinger" is proof that single-player FPS games can still provide enough thrills on their own.

Multiplayer unfortunately isn't one of them, but that isn't really a bad thing here. "Gunslinger" is proof that single-player FPS games can still provide enough thrills on their own.

There's a surprisingly great story here backed up by fantastic voice acting. It plays off of the absurdity of old western stories giving it a great sense of humor and over-the-top action that translates to the gameplay. The story mode is a linear affair, but the action is so solid and fun the way it is set up doesn't matter. The way it dishes out points for how you kill enemies will keep you trying your best to line up those shots until they are jus right. If you can forgive a few tediously designed boss battles the campaign is a real treat. With unlockable difficulties, skills to unlock, two endings, and a new game plus mode there are plenty of reasons to come back after the credits roll.

After you're done playing and replaying the campaign the arcade mode will keep you coming back. This time it's all about the score. Attacking fast and furious will get your points up, but be cautious because you only get one shot. It's easily the better of the two extra modes and the one you will come back to. Duel mode isn't necessarily bad, but the dueling mechanics themselves are a bit awkward. Managing speed and focus before you draw doesn't always seem to matter as sometimes the AI just has the better luck. It's there if you need it, but I don't expect it to keep people coming back.

It's an action packed spaghetti western that's a heck of a lot of fun. With action this solid and theme this well fleshed out you'll be hard pressed to find a better game set in the wild west outside of Red Dead Redemption. If you are looking to strap on a six-shooter and blow away some varmints this is the game for you. There's enough replayable content to keep you busy for a while. At the price of a downloadable game it's even harder to pass up. A few issues get in the way, but it doesn't change the fact that this game can be a blast.

Like someone said, it comes from a school of fun video games, like Blood Dragon. Well, the length is ok, but since it gets kind of repetitive, I though it lasted 1 or 2 hours longer than it should. But it was a truly fun, frantic, fine shooter. It is not a blockbuster, mind you, don't expect it to be Red Dead or even the previously Juarez. It is just plain fun, and that's it. Expand

It was met with mixed reactions with its lackluster gameplay mechanics and shallow story. After two more mediocre sequels, Bound in Blood and The Cartel, Techland has started fresh with Gunslinger. Can the series redeem itself this time around?
Gunslinger has its strengths and weaknesses. Its strongest asset is something the series has never done very well, which is its gameplay. The controls are tight and solid, making gunplay fun and exciting. Its one of the most rewarding games when it comes to taking down bad guys with your revolver, rifle, or other weapon of choice. The bullet time feature is here, which is temporarily slows down time so you can eliminate multiple enemies at once. It works, but its not something I found myself using very often. Duels are also here, which introduce some clever characteristics as far as gun drawing and accuracy. The visuals in Gunslinger are pretty, but they’re nothing to shout from the rooftops about. You could do that, but you’d look like a darn fool. However, for a downloadable game, it is very nice to look at. The environments are classic Wild West, with prairies, farms, caverns, valleys, canyons, and more. The game is dedicated to offering that old time western experience, surrounding and engulfing you in it. Sound is also great. Voice acting is the strongest part of the audio presentation, offering many funny moments and some genuine bad-to-the-bone ones as well. However, expect some outright silly and awkward lines throughout. The typical FPS flare is here, with explosions, gunshots and dynamite, which all sound glorious in surround sound. I advise you buy ear muffs or sound-isolating earbuds before your purchase. Either that or just resist from shooting that TNT barrel, which isn’t going to happen, and you know it.

Silas Greaves is the main character in Gunslinger, who is a thick-skinned, old cowboy. He is also the narrator of the story, as he tells men in a saloon his past encounters and adventures as you play through them. You’ll hear some famous names such as Billy the Kid, Butch Cassidy and Doc Holiday for a clever pop-culture and history kick. Its a very cool concept that works well. The game doesn’t take itself too seriously though, as there is plenty of comedy, which is genuinely funny and entertaining. It keeps things loose and fun. Oddly enough, this is one thing that lets Gunslinger stand on its own as a unique title. The game also offers arcade and duel modes, which are both rock-solid, more specifically the former, in which you take on hordes of enemies.

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is the best game in the series, which is saying a lot, given its surprisingly funny nature and the fact that it hardly takes itself seriously. It has its flaws, such as a weak story and short play-through length, but overall, Gunslinger is fun, entertaining, and offers great replay value. Isn’t this what games are supposed to do? I think so. It’s no Red Dead, but its $15 well spent.

Considering it is only £10, this succeeds in being even better than the previous ones in the series. To myself, this appeared slightly like Red Dead Redemption, and considering the advertising of how amazing that is, I cannot wonder but deem this a cheap unsung hero in the FPS genre.
The storyline is fairly basic, however the humour involved is quite amusing. It is set in the Wild West

This game not only refined the formula, but added a sweet XP system that allows upgrades for your weapons. The game has a western spaghetti, cartoony vibe thanks to some sweet cell-shaded graphics and a muted color palette. But the real icing on the cake is the narrative, you play an old gunslinger, Silas Greaves recalling his adventures in the old west to a bunch of strangers in a bar. And the narrative, which is often interrupted by the doubtful gathering or even by Silas's need to urinate, is constantly changing as you play. It also happens to be a super cheap deal for the price and a new game plus allows to you to keep your weapon upgrade progress as you replay the game on new difficulties. Absolutely recommended. Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is even better than Bound in Blood, though they are not exactly the same type of game.

Gunslinger is an arcade in its purest sense, with wild action and many combo possibilities. Besides, it is quite good in technical terms and the graphics are attractive. Gunslinger is really worth paying for.

What you get in the first hour of Call Juarez: Gunslinger, is exactly the same you will get in the next three or four hours of its story mode. So prepare for absolutely no surprises down the line. Still, Techland did a fine job constructing each level, making Gunslinger a fun ride through the Wild West. [June 2013, p.92]

Gunslinger feels like a by-the-numbers shooter with a narrative gimmick that, put in the right hands, could’ve made for a truly compelling experience. As it stands, it overall feels like a way to pad out the length (it’s already pretty short at about five hours).

By not taking itself seriously and focusing on the exaggerated swagger of old folk legends, Gunslinger manages to be the best game in the series. [August 2013, p74]
