Sony's debut in the dancing game franchise is quite good. This easy-going dance experience works quite nicely with Move, although there's no match for the precision what Kinect gives. This game proves the fact that dancing is fun. Instead of making the right moves, the focus is on the experience. [Dec 2011]

A solid game, although we miss more online connectivity, full of interesting and varied game modes, at a very competitive price. It makes good use of PlayStation Move motion detection, and is great to have a good time in company.

The PlayStation Eye sees your every move and determines how accurately you are performing the dance moves. Luckily the game isn't too tough on you. This is a party after all and although you need to try your best at copying the moves, having fun is more important. [December 2011, p.87]

Dancestar Party is a great alternative to Just Dance. Move responds very well and all the choreographies are beautiful.

A fun game to play with friends, even if the PlayStation Move controls don't always work the way they should.

Although DanceStar Party doesn't exceed expectations, it competantly meets them and the whole thing is delivered with the same kind of glossy accessibility that SingStar fans have come to know and love.

The first game in the DanceStar Party series is a really nice one, even if it lacks in polish and number of tracks. Anyway, if you are looking for an alternative to Just Dance 3 and you don't really like Michael Jackson, this is certainly the best choice.

The first iteration of DanceStar may not reach the heights of Dance Central or Just Dance, but we're certain this new series will be on level pegging when the next wave of rhythm games come around.

While it's fun for a while to invent your own dance routines, the initial fun factor quickly wears off, due to its broken controls, short tracklist and repetitive dance moves. Been there, done that.

DanceStar Party is a game that ends up living close to the "appeal" and purposes of SingStar. It is clearly pointed to an audience that wants to make use of this a game for collective situations.

It's definitely not a bad dancing game, but it lacks imagination and personality. Since it's released in the same month as Just Dance 4 and Dance Central 3, it's most likely to be forgotten next month..

Dancing lacks SingStar's fundamental party appeal. [Dec 2011, p.103]

In 2009, this might have been a good repose to Just Dance, or a decent one to Just Dance 2 in 2010. But it's 2011, Kinect and Dance Central 2 haven't just raised the bar, they have clearly moved the goalposts beyond Sony's reach. The Move controls aren't even as good as they should be. The original video clips playing and a song list more balanced across the decades are minor benefits that can't save the overall impression.

In the end DanceStar Party is a not a good game. It doesn't contain enough content and it doesn't offer a solid gameplay experience. This is not the dance game you're looking for if you have a PlayStation Move.
