  • Summary: Penned by legendary comic book artist Joe Madureira (X-Men, Battle Chasers, The Ultimates), Darksiders is set in a Post-Apocalyptic demon-ravaged world where evil forces have prematurely brought about the end of the time. Originally sent to oversee the destruction of Earth, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse have been betrayed by their master, stripped of their powers and cast down to Earth. Players take on the role of WAR -- the first of the Four Horsemen -- as he embarks on a brutal quest of vengeance and revenge against the forces that betrayed him with the help of his phantom steed RUIN. The first title from new THQ studio Vigil Games, Darksiders: Wrath of War features open-world exploration, a deep combat system and a huge arsenal of modern and mythical weapons. [THQ] Expand

  1. If ever there was a pure gamer’s game, Darksiders is it.

Darksiders brings you everything you expect. A beautiful post apocalyptic world combined with excellent audio and a real cool gameplay, deserves nothing less than a high score.
  3. Even without a clear narrative purpose, Darksiders never wavers from being an enjoyable adventure. I had a blast playing it, and strangely enough, the obvious nods to other games added to the fun. Despite a lame last boss fight, the setup planted for the sequel has me counting the days until it arrives.
  4. Vigil obviously love the classics but the end result is a solid enough game that feels last gen. [Feb 2010, p.72]

This was just an amazing game to play through. For Vigils first game ever they achieved what few well established developers have and that39;s a brilliant blend of action/adventure and puzzle solving. Expand
  2. This is a game designed by gamers. There is so much to love about Darkisders, the huge bosses, the fun hack and slash, the dark storyline, the horseman's continually increasing arsenal of weapons and tools, and the game design amongst other things. The downisde however is the somewhat repetitive gameplay, but overall the game is great. Expand
  3. This game could have been truly awesome. The first half of the game pulls you straight into a zelda style romp around some beautiful looking areas with some excellent level designs and intriguing puzzles. Though somehow it all seems to fall apart and the game loses its direction and becomes a bit tiresome as it shoves you along without properly developing its story or its gameplay. The problem here is that its an open RPG without any NPC's to help structure the story. Aside from the eccentric shopkeeper and an angry blacksmith its really just your somewhat one-sided character trundling from one waypoint to the next, with very little real challenge even on the hardest mode. The developers are promising a sequel with towns, side missions and a wider cast of characters, that could be the recipe for a really great fantasy RPG. Lets hope! Expand
  4. This has to be one of the most overhyped games of recent times. Combat is restricted to one button, with a minimum amount of combos achieved by pressing square (or x) one, two, three or four times. Enemies are extremely repetitive and boss fights completely unspectacular. The main character War is lacking personality and the environment is both graphically poor and not fun to traverse. The only redeeming quality of this game is the somewhat enjoyable story, but it is not enough to warrant a purchase, let alone a rent. Expand
