  1. Simply put, this just isn't worth your money. This would've been an acceptable game back on the PlayStation and maybe even early PlayStation 2 days, but the level of shallowness in game mechanics, the poor visuals, the boring story, the lousy audio, and the awful controls make it totally unacceptable for this generation.
  2. Dead to Rights: Retribution is a big disappointment. The gameplay is boring from start to finish and has a lot of visual flaws.

My issues are that this game is so damn generic, shallow, and content with being nothing special, it surprises me that it asks you to pay full price at the door.
  4. The executions are designed to provide a was-it-good-for-you catharsis. They don’t. They come off as juvenile and obscene. Whatever shock value they might have wears off almost instantly, transforming the game’s supposed "money-shot" into something pedestrian and tedious.
  5. I would give a C+/B- based solely on the merits of the game, but I just can't ignore unsavory business practices when they're out to con gamers like you.
  6. I’m only recommending this game to the patient—desperate for something they’ve experienced before.

The game cloaks itself in a ridiculous and oftentimes debilitating darkness. [July 2010, p.80]
  8. Dead to Rights: Retribution might not be particularly bad in a certain aspect, but it’s so mediocre and uninspired that there is no valid reason to spend your time on it.
  9. Ripping off enemies’ bollocks and ripping through their throats may feel rewarding, but it doesn’t make up for the game’s lackluster storyline, lack of any online multiplayer element, and poor overall effort put into the game.
  10. A pretty big disappointment, especially when compared to other action games including the two that I mentioned. I have no issues with someone making the equivalent of a B style game, and let's face it, that's exactly what Dead to Rights is going for here. However, it misses the mark completely when it comes to gunplay and combat, and the sterile, boring environments that you get to endlessly shoot dudes in don't help it at all.

The single player is not enough to hide the lack of bonus extras (specifically costumes etc), and a lack of potential game modes for example: - a Challenge mode for the the dog Shadow (similar to Batman's AA except using Shadow to get the fastest time possible or no kills.) - A co-op where one controls Shadow and one controls Jack going through the story - A surival game where they have to survival round of enemies either PIt fighting style or with guns. As I said there is potential in this game but it was not captialised on its release. This game is by no means bad, the experience is good, unique and fun, but after you've completed the story and finished off the last trophies/achievements there is nothing left for you to do. DLC has been annouced for around June but is it too little too late? Full Review »
