  • Summary: Vergil's Downfall is downloadable content for DmC: Devil May Cry that shows players what happens to Vergil after the events of the main game.

The first DMC paid DLC brings us into Vergil's dark world, delving into his story. The DLC is quite short, and lacks the action of the original. Even though the fans of the saga can be interested in knowing the hidden background of Dante's twin brother, it strikes us as a bit overpriced.

Vergil's Downfall is worth playing through if you enjoyed DmC at all, and you could do a lot worse with $9.
  3. The cutscenes consist of 2D-animations, a sign that Ninja Theory didn't put everything they had into this DLC. But to be fair: playing with Vergil feels like a completely new experience. [April 2013, p.88]

In the end, it’s worth playing through if you got it free from a pre-order deal when DmC was purchased. But I honestly don’t think it’s worth the $10 asking price.

Here comes a perfect dlc that you can play in DmC. But, you're not Dante anymore, you play as Vergil, his brother, and go figure, it continues the story for you, so if you really want so more insight, I would suggest playing Vergil's Downfall. Expand

This is a fantastic piece of DLC. Packed full of upgrades, trophies, new levels and a few new demons. Vergil controls somewhat differently to Dante, but once you wrap your head around the differences he can be a lot of fun to play as. The way Vergil slips deeper and deeper into a more twisted and evil version of himself (bringing him closer to what we saw in DMC3) is handled with such aplomb by Ninja Theory, they should be highly commended for what they have managed to do not just here, but with the full game as well. The scene is well set up for (hopefully) a sequel on the next gen. Expand
  3. Pros- -More DMC! - free if you pre-ordered - has a few Bright spots. Cons- cutscenes are mixed with cheap cartoons. - 3 hours long. - Not nearly as awesome as the real game.
    - action, story, and overall experience was a bit lacking.

  4. Vergil's Downfall chronicles the events that transpire after the conclusion of the main game's story. The DLC contains a new playable character with a completely different move-set to Dante and six brand new missions to play through. I'l keep this short to avoid spoilers. The game play is very entertaining. The plot seemed average at first, but upon replaying it I noticed a lot of symbolism and ways to interpret just what is going on in the DLC. The soundtrack isn't as memorable as the main game. The visuals still look great but some of them (quite a lot actually) are ripped straight from the main game. If you enjoyed DmC, this is worth the price tag. If not, you probably won't enjoy this.
Also, for those of you who tremble at the thought of Dante's new look, this DLC has a white haired protagonist.
