This game is horrible. Finally broke down and bought it because I was RPG hungry.. I couldn't finish Oblivion or Skyrim (eventually got bored of the repetition), but at least I can say those are quality games. I played this for eight hours. I'm selling it tomorrow. Got stuck on where to go in the beginning (no main quest markers/direction/log....). The interface is terrible with the worst mini map system I have ever seen in a game. Eight hours in and no quick travel. Enemies in the start zone can kill you in three hits (lizard men in the sewer), an over complicated saving system, a very dull world filled with very dull characers/zones. Don't get sucked into the hype. The demo was awesome. Don't be fooled. I gave it a three for an attempt at an open world RPG with more satisfying combat. For an ACTION RPG, I was bored out of my mind. Expand

Wow this is probably the worst rpg i have ever played. I love rpg's, but this one is soooo bad that it;s hard to find words for it. Firstly the graphics are horrible, everything looks the same, same houses, empty cities, everything is the same color. No armor and weapon costumization, characters look really bad. Combat system is very generic, just mash one button and that's all. Enemies take forever to kill. You spend most of your time running around, because there's no fast travel, the world is bland and empty. Seriously how it could be? This is the dumbest thing which could exist in an rpg game. Oh i forgot about story. Wait there's no story. Expand

Worse game and DLC ever. The storyline is boring and doesn't make sense. Not only one hour played that every single creature kill you in a hit and this, even at easy mode. Bitterblack isle is completely out of the storyline, out of context. You play hundreds of hours to find out that at the end, it's only impossible to get through. This game is only about giving something impossible to the customers instead of focusing on a good and rich content. Capcom literally fail in RPG games. They should get back to what they can do as this game is a complete failure. Expand

  1. Dark Arisen offers far more than the average DLC. There are more than twenty new demonic types of monsters, a ton of new skills and loads of new gear to wear. Dark Arisen feels more like a half finished sequel than a DLC package. [May 2013, p.90]

The same game as the original, but with all DLC included and a new area to explore. A bit weird, but the extra content is worth the money. There aren't exactly any improvements though, so if you had any complaints about the original, they will still be present here.

Technical issues aside and unfair difficulty in some quests don’t stop Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen from being an enjoyable and exciting RPG. While fans of the original may feel ripped off with the lack of any game changing enhancements, a lowered retail price suggests that Capcom is reaching out to newcomers who will get the most out of this release. To those newcomers I strongly suggest giving it a go.
