Daggerdale is a lengthy adventure, but most of the monsters and quests start to feel reiterative after the first couple of hours. Nonetheless, there are few other places to go right now for a downloadable fantasy game with co-op included. Someone should really get on that problem, because Daggerdale isn't the solution.

By the time you reach the end boss, complete with compulsory quick-time events, you'll be glad it's over. Daggerdale doesn't do anything out of the ordinary – it's a typical plod through the world of D&D, and a stale one at that.

Dungeons And Dragons: Daggerdale barely has any memorable features to it, as it is nothing more than a generic dungeon crawler. This is worsened by the repetitive missions and a lack of checkpoints. The decent controls and the co-op add a little enjoyment, but cannot save this game from disaster.
  4. The quests are grinding, the dialogue linear, and the loot at lower levels decidedly 'meh.' [Oct 2012, p.117]

Overall, despite the potential of an action RPG using a Dungeons and Dragons rule set and just how great the game should have been, Daggerdale falls short in most areas.

This game is nowhere as bad as people are making it out to be. It's not a major production like Skyrim. Not every new game has to follow the new trends either. Keep it fun, playable, easy to pick up and play. If you have ever played D&D with pen and paper and any of the Baldur Gate games, you'll love this. It's co-op, old school style action RPG style, and I like it. For a fun quick romp in a D&D universe, it's worth the money. By no means perfect, but for the money they put into it, it's well worth it. Expand

Gameplay is limited to mashing one button most of the time, graphics are actually not that bad, very bland, and not anything exciting. Seems like this should have been a wii game from two years ago or more. No speech from NPCs other than the main quest cutscenes. Looting and killing doesnt make this feel like D&D at all. Very watered down version of whats currently available, check out D3 or Dungeon Hunter. Expand
