The "Deluxe" edition is missing most of these things. This game only has passing similarity to the original in the most important department, and that is feel. It just doesn't feel fun to play. The original is still more fun, even though it is nearing 30 years of age.
My review score isn't lower because the game at least functions. See Assault Rigs for the kind of game I would give a zero.… Full Review »
Oct 19, 2011I am huge fan of the original and the short of it is that the original is fun and this game is not. This game is really a puzzle stealthI am huge fan of the original and the short of it is that the original is fun and this game is not. This game is really a puzzle stealth action game. You can play it like an action game like the original Elevator Action but you won't get the gold stars and it will be too easy to be fun. It really wants you play it like a stealth action game however the mechanics are terrible. You are never told what constitutes as being spotted and it never gives and indicator that you have been spotted. Often times you finish a level expecting a gold only to be told you were spotted sometime. The levels are sometimes long so it is frustrating to be spotted at the very end. Sometimes it just seems like luck and there is no strategy. I am not easily frustrated but this game frustrated me. This game is not fun and certainly NOT Elevator Action.… Full Review »
Sep 15, 2011First things first, many remakes to older games and retro styled HD games usually will be enjoyed by fans of the orginal games. Like, MegamanFirst things first, many remakes to older games and retro styled HD games usually will be enjoyed by fans of the orginal games. Like, Megaman 9, Bubble Bobble, and Bomberman to name a few. If you are in any way a fan of the orginal Elevator Action, you will most likely find this game to be really fun and a great upgrade from the previous game. I never played the Saturn one, but this is nothing like that one. In fact, they even include the original game with this one, just in case you don't own a copy. Anyway back to the review of sorts. Fans of the previous game like me, will instantly love how you can still squash, shoot, and knock lights down on the enemies. This game adds new elements to make it feel fresh, with things like door kills, knockouts, bombs, switches, and even medals to earn. There is a story, but that's not why you'd buy the game, so it's not really important. The game also has a high replay value, in which it has leaderboards, medals to earn, 4-player co-op, and the orginal game. I really wish they had the Saturn one so I could finally play and own that one, but oh well. I would have to rate this game an 8/10 for fans of the previous game, and a 7/10 for newcomers. The only flaws being the jump is much faster now than the old game had, which can be both good and bad, and the game could've had more graphical sprucing.… Full Review »
