90With a compelling storyline, fun characters, access to over 100 party members in the form of the Golems and a very flexible, rewarding and deep upgrade system, Enchanted Arms has everything you would expect from a great RPG and it will keep you hooked for the fifty hours or more that it takes you to reach the end.

84A lot of people bashed on this game when it was released for 360, and it has seen similar mediocrity in sales performance on the PlayStation 3. However, I stand firm in my opinion that the game is a decent, semi-epic RPG that's worth playing, if only to have such a grandiose tale to play on a next-gen before Final Fantasy XIII.
-
Purists may be put off by the lack of deep side-quests, but for everyone else this is a tongue in cheek adventure that offers something different from the usual RPG fare. [May 2007, p.114]
-
Despite the unoriginal linear storyline Enchanted Arms provides a creative list of Golems to collect, interesting and strategic combat, along with all the rest of Japanese styled finesse you'd expect in a role playing game.
-
The PS3 version is also the best way to experience the game since it features more golems to collect and a few extra seconds of cutscenes.
-
72An okay effort, it's just not a "next-gen RPG."
-
70A pretty, mostly typical RPG wrapped around a deep, compelling battle system and more than 100 collectible monsters.
-
70The game is just as strange and flashy as it looks – but among that weirdness is a game that's pretty darn fun.
-
70Enchanted Arms uses all the familiar constructs of the genre, playing as if developers went down a checklist of what a Japanese RPG should feature and made sure to include them all. [June 2007, p.82]
-
Tacking on the motion controls has really weakened Enchanted Arms' improved outing on the PS3, shoe-horning completely out of place and unfocused pad-shaking into an RPG and forcing players to accept it as necessary.
-
69Just be sure you've got a book or PSP spare for those, frankly, unbearable loading times. [Issue#152, p.78]
-
68Enchanted Arms is a capable and often enjoyable role-playing game, but it's also one that you'll likely forget as soon as you finish it.
-
It provides some fun. [June 2007, p.68]
-
65There's nothing here that stands out. You've done it all before.
-
The thirty new Golems and the Sixaxis support don't really offset the loss of online play. However, if you're just looking for an RPG to pass the time, you could do worse than Enchanted Arms.
-
60Combines lovely visuals and irritating characters to create an uninspiring romp. The strong story is limited by genre fail-safes while the combat is suitably tactical. [Apr 2007, p.131]
-
60Enchanted Arms does nothing that particularly stands out, and there are superior experiences to be had on inferior hardware.
-
55After a few hours, it feels like you're going through the motions instead of getting caught up in the story and characters.
-
55It features a yawn worthy story involving a guy named Atsuma who has a mysterious past and a secret unknown power that could potentially save the world. As I said, yawn.
-
50Maybe if there was a little less fighting and a little more convoluted storyline, Enchanted Arms would be more bearable.
-
40Accepting Enchant Arms' genetic flaws as part of the JRPG package is like saying that all comic books are about superheros or that all manga is about ninja schoolgirls.
-
40The most mediocre JRPG you can imagine from Enchanted Arms and no more.
-
24For the first 75% of the title, EM is pretty close to being the easiest rpg ever made. This is probably because the title was created as an entry-level Japanese rpg for western Xbox fans. Only during the final 25% of the game does the game actually require strategy. [JPN Import]
