FIFA 13 has an interesting feature: its unpredictable character. But it's also the culmination of an abundance of past attributes.

Great atmosphere, beautiful animations, skillful goals – this is top notch soccer.

Take all the beauty of football, all its unpredictability and all emotions it carries, boil it down and what you get is roughly FIFA 13. It's the best, the richest simulation of football ever created. [12/2012, p.48]

All things considered, FIFA 13 is a good football game. It's much better than FIFA 12. It feels more fluid, and in turn a bit more like an actual match.

EA Canada hasn't created a new game with FIFA 13, rather they've improved the overall package from last year. More accurate controls, an even playing field amongst gamers, better visuals and more than a few worthwhile modes of play help to make this a solid release in the FIFA series.

FIFA's action on the attack and near the goal has always been subpar, but I've cut it some slack in the past due to upgrades and improvements in other areas. Not this year-this is as weak an effort as I've seen from FIFA in a decade, and the whole affair screams "Roster Update 2013" from the get-go.

It's unfair to say that FIFA 13 is only an expansion of last year's edition. This is a game vast in content and injects more realism to a gaming experience that already was quite authentic.

This is the icing on the cake of a great generation of football games. FIFA 13 achieves excellence in almost everything: gameplay, modes, social elements and online experience.

Almost a perfect football game with a deep and very entertaining career mode, both on the pitch and on the sideline. A somewhat broken commentary track, at times weird AI and online modes that brings more hang-ups than joy stands in the way of a perfect score.

FIFA 13 captures a lot of the passion and pageantry of world football, but beneath the surface its gameplay flaws can hinder the beautiful movements that truly make the sport great.

If you're a fan of the beautiful game then FIFA 13 is a must buy, once again!

If you're a die-hard fan, you likely had FIFA 13 in your sights the moment it was announced. If you've been away from the series for a few entries, there's no better time to jump back into FIFA.

In the end, FIFA Soccer 13 does a fantastic job of iterating on the core gameplay mechanics and providing a fun, realistic experience.

EA has outdone themselves once again and delivered perhaps the greatest soccer game of all time. If FIFA 12 broke all sales records for sports games, we can easily imagine FIFA 13 doing the very same thing.

After the FIFA 12 revolution we get finally this new installment with tuned-up innovations, that were previously semi-finished, and as a result we can play one hell of a football game. The newly release novelties and gaming modes improvement underline my words.

FIFA 13 is irritating and painful yet wonderful and nuanced, just like the sport it so painstakingly emulates.

FIFA 13 is mostly a collection of subtle tweaks and ideas that, while an improvement, aren't all that essential, particularly for casual players.

FIFA 13 is a refinement of a winning formula rather than an entirely new equation. While the gameplay changes are more subtle, they really consolidate upon the success and innovation of FIFA 12.

If you're one of those people who think that holding out for a few years until FIFA gets better and better is a good idea, stop right now. Get out of your homes and buy FIFA 13. It's an amazing experience that must be played at least once by every soccer fan. Everything you love from recent versions is bigger and better, from the look and the feel to the sound and the content; it's easily one of the most satisfying gaming experiences I've ever had, and I'm sure it'll be for you to.

After years of carefully sculpting and expanding, EA finally managed to take the last hurdles. The goalie and the referee are near perfection and the AI has been much improved. This results in an incredibly realistic and dynamic game. Sometimes the pace is a little bit too fast, but with all the improvements that's easy to forgive. We get why Messi is on the cover this year; only the world's best footballer of the world's best team is worthy of the world's best football game.

FIFA 13 is maybe close to FIFA 12. However, for EA Vancouver, the first one was an evolution when the second one was a revolution. The Canadian studios manage to improve the already good bases of the IP, especially the ones on which players were looking for improvements. In another way, FIFA 13 is a game you'll need to play for hours to discover all the details that make it the greatest football simulation game to date.

By and large FIFA 13 is chock-full of content. The online aspects are so in depth now there is no doubt you could play FIFA 13 for all eternity if you so chose, which really represents excellent value for gamers.
  23. Online play will be the biggest difference maker for FIFA 13 and will directly affect even a simple game between two friends. Want to play a game of Man U against Man C, but both Van Persie and Balotelli were injured recently? Then the game will automatically limit your player selection. [October 2012, p.62]

New key features such as first touch, attacking intelligence and improved player impact engine are the cornerstones of FIFA 13. Finally, after years of waiting, the ball is really round and there is a sense of unpredictability on the field. That makes an enjoyable footy game. [Nov 2012]

On the one hand, it's one of the best entries to the series. On the other hand it's pretty much the same game again, for 50 quid. [Issue#223, p.70]

The changes to the game's offensive movement and realistic ball control provide a great balance to the already strong precision defending. If you are a fan of soccer or looking to become one, there is no better place to start than with FIFA 13.
  27. On the surface it may look the same but underneath and in your hands this is complex and wonderful. With a wealth of updates and the impressive inclusion of the training mini-games, FIFA 13 is for anyone who either wants a friendly kick-about or be completely and utterly immersed in the world of football. [November 2012, p64]
  28. FIFA is still the best football game your money can buy. It's not streets ahead of PES but there's daylight, and this is the most convincing representation of the sport – incorporating both the on- and off-field aspects – that we've seen.
  29. 90
EA Sports keeps its football/soccer franchise at the top with more realistic Match Days and gameplay in FIFA 13. The formula hasn't changed much, but the overall package is once again as good as it gets.
  30. It's very good, as we now expect. This year's installment just isn't a revolutionary leap. [Nov 2012, p.81]

Pretty much the best soccer game up to date. There's still room for improvement though... then again, there always will be.

If it's more of the same you want, with a few extras, some more polish and updated player rosters, have no fear – FIFA 13 scores effortlessly on that front. There aren't a whole lot of huge changes during this run out, but the substitutions across each mode, plus some smart new diversions such as Skill Games, the great integration of live team updates and tightened mechanics, ensure that it stays on top of the table for another year.
  34. Perhaps the biggest problem with FIFA 13 is that it can be somewhat impenetrable to new or casual fans.

While it does more iterating than innovating this year, FIFA stands alone atop a somewhat small heap of competition to remain the soccer game you want if you only want one soccer game.

FIFA 13 is the most realistic and complete football game available, full of content to keep us busy till the end of the season. It looks for imperfection in every match –when controlling the ball, shooting, passing, etc.– in order to bring an experience closer to real football, something that some players might not like, even though we consider it's a fresh addition to the gameplay. Once again, the football game we would recommend.

FIFA 13 did not become the most perfect football game ever, but the gameplay is still astonishing. Gamers should get this game for the online experience alone.
