Apr 6, 2011I don't have a move controller and I'm not a fitness guru. In fact I'm way out of shape. My wife picked this "game" up three weeks ago and we've been using it five times a week since. It's fun and we feel great, if a little sore (in a good way). The workouts cover a wide variety of exercises and I feel like I'm getting a way better workout than just doing it on my own. You can use the move and/or the eye with it to see how you're doing, but who wants to see their flab bouncing around the living room? Maybe when I get into a little better shape I'll try the move with it.
There is a wide variety of individual workouts that focus on one to three(~ish) aspects of your fitness from cardio, balance, upper body, core, lower body, and flexibility. You select a goal (ie. strong back, shape your body, healthy heart, etc.) from a preset list and the game selects the most appropriate workouts for that goal and puts them in a "my goals" section. You can then choose to work out with one of those workouts (they all have some aspect that works toward your goal) or choose to work out with any of the other workouts in the game.
Once you've done several workouts and met your short term goal the system lets you choose another (it can be the same goal or a different one).
The variety in the level of difficulty is quite good. There are workouts that are both challenging and feel good to someone like me (less fit) and there are some that I'm sure would be challenging to a more fit individual (haven't tried those). Each workout tells you what areas of your fitness it works on, the duration of the workout, and gives you an idea of the difficulty of the exercises in it. Each workout is separate from the others too, so you can work out for three minutes or two hours, depending on your schedule (and motivation).
There is also a feature that lets you listen to your own music while working out, which is nice.
The one thing that I was a little disappointed about is the fact that I couldn't find any basic tutorial on how to do some of the dance moves. My body does NOT naturally move like that instructor's does.
Overall I think this is a great fitness program. It's fun, easy to use, challenging, and convenient.
I'd give it a ten if it weren't for the lack of most basic instruction.… Full Review »
Mar 22, 2011I did some research on "exercise games" and I found an unbiased website where a fitness instructor tried out 6 different fitness games. And she ranked this one as the best. So I bought it and I'm liking it a lot. There are many many different types of exercises that focus different things. Everything from yoga to muscle building....everything from Salsa dancing to kickboxing. My only complaint is that the game doesn't give you a proper schedule to follow. Like how many hours a day to exercise. But it does have a calender which keeps track of what you've done in the past.… Full Review »
