I suspect this will be one of the first titles to take a price drop, so if this time of the year is really punishing your wallet, you might want to wait, but for those who never got to play GoldenEye on the N64 or even last year on the Wii, you can now finally experience a bit of gaming history, freshly wrapped in a next-gen package that is so challenging, so fun, and so addicting, you might have trouble deciding what to play when all those holiday titles start stacking up.

A good and entertaining shooter, although somewhat far from the best games in the genre. But the classy style of James Bond makes it special.
  3. The thing we love most about Golden Eye is the split-screen multiplayer. You don't see this enough in shooters anymore. Luckily Eurocom can be counted on to deliver the goods: four people can fight it out on one screen at the same time in several exciting modes. [December 2011, p.64]

  1. The Golden Touch - Goldeneye Reloaded. I've been waiting for an HD remake of the Wii version of Goldeneye for quite awhile and now that it has arrived. I can say I am not dissapointed. To start off the review the campaign is FUN. Something most games can't seem to achieve anymore. You can approach the game in 2 ways. Call of Duty run and gun or James Bond Stealth, sneak through vents and kill people will a silenced P99. The campaign is short and follows the story of the original Goldeneye movie. If you guys are looking for an N64 remake of Goldeneye. Look elsewhere, this isnt the real deal but its a good deal. The remake is the splitscreen multiplayer. Thats where the nostalgia is. Campaign is fun and has an engaging story. Now lets get to multiplayer. Call of Duty-esque but doesnt stop it from being an all out blast. Moonraker lasers, Golden Guns and all the classic weapons you've known and come to love. Hell you can even be Oddjob and throw his razorblade hat. Slappers? You know it. Goldeneye Reloaded has some of the most engaging and fun multiplayer on the market to date. So let me just wrap up this mini-review for you. - Buy this game. XienTEC Score - 90/100 (Fun, fast-paced and stealthy and great multiplayer) (XienTEC Reward) Expand

  2. Not owning a Wii, I was excited to journey through the nostalgia that is Goldeneye 007: Reloaded. This is essentially the HD version of the remake which initial debuted on the Wii. I was pleased to see this was not simply a reskinning of the N64 Goldeneye game, but a remake in a present day setting with some welcome diversions from the N64 game's faithful adherence to the movie's story. The shooting mechanics are solid and there are plenty of weapons to play with, but the SMGs and assault rifles feel very samey. Bond's smart phone allows him to hack doors and turrets or take pictures to complete various secondary objectives. The level design is linear but there is often at least one alternate route through an area. You can go in guns blazing, sneak past, or a mix of both. For example, one level on a naval vessel allowed me to either burst through a door and face down several guards with an automated turret, sneak through a side entrance and evade patrols, or crawl through an air duct, hack the turret, and watch it massacre the guards. It's refreshing to see an otherwise linear shooter with a cinematic flair allow for a bit of player choice. The game is a decent length similar to the original N64 game, but there is little in the way of replayability. There is a difficulty setting where your health does not regenerate and you must manage armor, and outside of the MI6 missions (think Call of Duty SpecOps), the competitive multiplayer mode is rather weak. While it's not yet difficult to find a game, lag is ever present, and the game seems to suffer from framerate hiccups in large matches despite the singleplayer portions having no such issues. Buy this game if you are a FPS or Bond fanatic. Otherwise, don't expect lasting appeal. Expand

  3. Was not impressed from what I saw the game did not deliver in the multiplayer as was remembered from the Nintendo 64. The lagging made it hard to enjoy I'm a James bond fan but I'd rather play quantum of solace . Expand
