Kaz Yamauchi's passion for the racing sphere shines through every aspect of the game. The incredibly-detailed cars, the slick presentation, the spot-on physics. Polyphony Digital brought its A-game. Nothing else on the market can come close to the realism and immersion you feel throughout. Gran Turismo 5 is virtual racing at its very best.

Uncompromising in design and steeped in car loving snobbery, GT5 is a petrol head's dream. For gamers it's good, for car enthusiasts it's quite brilliant.

GT5 may have taken a lifetime to release, but it delivers on its promise of being 'the real driving simulator'.

I never thought I'd see the day I gave a Gran Turismo game less than a 9. And then GT PSP happened. The disappointment continues, but it's abated by what I can only hope are continued, frequent updates.

GT5 lives up to "the real driving simulator" tagline, but in almost every other respect, there lies a sense that the grandaddy has been lapped by the competition.

Considering the time it took Polyphony to complete what we believed would be a masterpiece, we really can't hide our disappointment. Although the number of cars, events and play modes on offer is surely impressive, Gran Turismo 5 is far from that level of perfection that the development team promised us during the last four years.

Gran Turismo 5's core problem is that the broad scope of all these game modes diminishes the polish of the general product. There's no denying the feel of the actual driving, but everything else that makes up the game feels tedious and half-baked.

I have had every Gran Turismo iteration since its first installment on the Playstation (1). This title has been in the making for years and II have had every Gran Turismo iteration since its first installment on the Playstation (1). This title has been in the making for years and I can safely say that it HAS been worth the wait. The level of immersion is just amazing (as expected in a GT title). The more you get into the game, the more you begin to realize all the different types of races and large variety of vehicles you can toy around with. While the level of detail between Premium and Standard vehicles may be apparent when you sit down and analyze them, the physics engine is what matters and no matter the type of car, you can rest assured that the performance is very accurate to its real world counter part.

Unlike previous GT titles, this entry doesn't require you to take the various license tests but being a fan of the series I went ahead and completed all which even at this point in the series, you can learn a thing or two.

The inclusion of NASCAR and WRC vehicles gives it a wider range of tracks and appeal. Unlike 'rushed' reviews that claimed the damage mechanic didn't truly exist, it DOES exist but you have to earn it (unlock it fully) as you progress in the game. This allows for the player to become more familiar with the courses/tracks as well as the handling of the cars so that when full damage is in effect, you don't pay dearly by losing races or having to pay for repairs time and time again.

The multiplayer aspect is a work in progress in my mind but the possibilities are many.

Overall the title demonstrates once again that it is indeed THE real driving simulator and the wait was very worth it.

this game is a piece of art which will be one of the most underrated game of this generation
and the pricing for it is great the game mode are fun to play around with and the tracks are video fun to drive on

but this game is still the most realistic driving sim ever to be out on the gaming market

dont look at the ign score because they made ign uk review it and we all know ign uk are xbox fanboy

this game is an overall great experience and will be around for a long long long time to come and please stop comparing it to that game called forza, forza is a arcade driving game no a racing simulator, GT has better graphic and a more realistc feeling of really being around the steering of a fordGT are a nas car., if you want the full experience buy the game and check it out for yourself

They spend 5 years making one single game that does not involve anything the current videogame industry is obsessed with (zombies, apocalyptic environments, open world gameplay, first-person shooters, etc...) and it does is executed in an extremely classy way. Gran Turismo 5 couldn't feel more refreshing to the gaming-enthusiast, especially when a market is saturated with macho-men titles. Yes it is a blockbuster sequel, but that does not make it feel any less awesome. Expand

I am not a fan of racing games by any means, but this has converted me. Realism is there and the authenticity of every car can be felt in every car due to the fact that each one handles differently. My only problems with the game is the multiplayer isn't as fleshed out as it should. It feels almost arcadic and it is difficult to play with friends. Lastly, not all 1000 cars are fully detailed. Only 200 of them are fully detailed, but when they do have interiors, boy are they amazing. The inside of cars are individually unique and it is magic when the light cascades across the dash. This game is not a revolution, but as a diving simulator, this game is unparalleled. Expand

The sheer amount of cars and the amount of tuning I can do with them, building a garage of cars that I put some oil and tears into is really addictive. Cars are separated into Premium and Standard cars, Premium being the only ones that look truly next gen HD, and they look beautiful. The standard cars make up 75 % (of the 1000+ cars) and while they look fine they pale in comparison to the premium cars which is a small grip that I have. Single player races can get a little repetitive if you want to grind for cash but online races make up for that. B-Spec mode where you control a team of drivers is nice when you want to multi task something else while you play.

Overall if you like realistic driving sims you can't really do much better than GT5.
