  1. It's the quality of the central action in InFamous that I keep coming back to. Everything else would be fancy window dressing if Sucker Punch hadn't nailed the basic gameplay elements, the simple moving and shooting, as precisely as it did. InFamous feels like a game designed from the very ground up to be fun to play, so I guess it's no surprise that as soon as the credits finished rolling on my good version of Cole, I started up an evil one to play it all over again.

Simply put, inFamous is the kind of game that when I'm not playing it, I'm constantly thinking about doing so. Heck, I already know what's going to happen right after I finish this sentence: I'm going to go back and play more as "superhero lightning cop" Cole.
  3. Incredible freedom of movement, intense combat, and an enthralling story make Infamous an impressive open-world action game.
  4. A sandbox game that turns you into a superhero, maybe, is a surprisingly entertaining jaunt despite it not immediately capturing our imagination. inFamous does a lot of things right.
  5. But the real reason to buy inFamous is that, regardless of your morality, it's just plain old fun being super-powered Cole in a city full of helpless mortals. And if you're a 360 owner lamenting the PS3 exclusivity, don't worry about it - just go pick up a copy of "Crackdown" instead.
  6. As frustrating as it can be to constantly have to keep your eye out for sources of electricity, the power it gives you is particularly enthralling. With an intriguing story and original, if painfully skillful, enemies, the game offers engagement through both narrative, likeable characters and respectable challenge.
  7. For everything Infamous does well there’s a counter-balance of agitating design decisions.

More like 9.5. Overall an awesome game. Some minor flaws such as enemies half stuck in the wall after being defeated. What was most More like 9.5. Overall an awesome game. Some minor flaws such as enemies half stuck in the wall after being defeated. What was most surprising is the fact that you can't mindlessly jump in the middle of a group of enemies and expect to win which is often the case for these types of games. While the the choices for karma are obvious it is really tempting to use the evil side. Game is really enjoyable and from what I heard there are different cut scenes for both sides. So far I have not encountered any major slowdowns and/or glitches. Really a must buy if you are a fan of the genre and even if you're not definitely give it a try. Expand

Well, I usually wait until I finish a game to give my opinion, but I am about 2/3 the way through and overall I have to give this game a 9.5 Well, I usually wait until I finish a game to give my opinion, but I am about 2/3 the way through and overall I have to give this game a 9.5 mainly because when I'm not playing it, I can't wait to do so. It is repetitive but what game isn't. At least it mixes up the missions enough to kill the staleness of it. The cool thing is, is all of the different ways you can complete every sede and main mission. This is in the top 3 of the PS3 library. Expand

It is a great break from boring and repetitive FPSs. First, the gameplay: new, fresh, fun, and dang enjoyable. The karma system that can change your various electric type powers is neat and adds an incredible amount of depth with good/bad decisions. The story is one of the best I've ever had the pleasure to be a part of. From the protagonists, antagonists, and everywhere in between, the story makes you care about the characters and what happens to them. The plot has great twists and turns as you discover more about the world you, Cole McGrath, has been flung into. Sure there are a bit ends and odds that could be tidied up and a more innovative hand-to-hand combat system would be amazing, but this game bring the comic book genre into the new generation. A great game and a worthy buy. Expand

A masterfully done, exceedingly fun superhero sandbox game. Probably one of the best sandbox games I've played in a long time (I liked A masterfully done, exceedingly fun superhero sandbox game. Probably one of the best sandbox games I've played in a long time (I liked it much better than GTA IV) The controls are amazingly responsive, platforming in every game should be this fluid. The combat is fun and there are several ways to handle any combat situation (the game rewards you for being creative). The story is a little lackluster, but the immersion is there. As perfect as it seems at first glance, I do have a few complaints. First off, sometimes the motion animations are a little wonky, this isn't a huge deal but sometimes I wish Cole would just stand up straight. Some of the sound effects (namely the running sound effect) are also a little... odd, especially the footsteps sound effects (which unfortunately you hear all the time). Those complaints are very forgivable and only skindeep. My biggest beef with the game is it penalizes you for playing realistically. Upper level skills are unlocked via the karma system, which only has 2 options, play as a saint, or play as the devil. If you try to take the middle road the game slams you by not letting you unlock the highest rank abilities. While that might not be a problem for some, for me it kind of hurts the immersion of the game. In one mission I might want to kill the guy who just called me a terrorist, but that doesn't mean I want to kick puppies later on, however the game gives you no choice if you want those amazing shock grenades. There should be an option to be neuteral and still be a badass. Those flaws aside, the game is ridiculously fun to play. The side missions are diverse and plentiful (and fun to boot) the story missions can be challenging at times but overall the game is at a pretty low-moderate difficulty. A very fun game none the less, if you have a PS3 you won't be disappointed buying this game. Expand

Why is this game getting bad scores from critics? What they think that [Prototype] is better? HAHAHA. inFAMOUS can beat Prototype with a stick and not be ashamed of it. The game has a much better storyline with a twist at the end that'll make you go OMG. The gameplay is superb. It takes a lot of cues from Assassin's Creed and Crackdown and improves upon them. The result is that you can climb almost anything in Empire City. Also Empire City has got to be the most fun sandbox world ever created along with Oblivion and San Andreas. Cole's powers are cool whether you're heroic or infamous. This game does have some repetition problems with its sidequests, but don't all sandbox games doo? Even GTA IV does. Fantastic game, ignore the 84 score it should at least be an 89. Job well done Sucker Punch! Expand

The concept and potential of this game are incredible, even the story isn't all that bad. The thing that destroys this game from the inside out is the difficulty level, and the fact that it takes itself to seriously. The dialogue animations are laughably bad, the voice acting is sub-par or average at best. The difficulty is unREAL. I beat the game on Medium difficulty and it left me ripping my hair out and screaming into my couch cushions. The bosses aren't that bad, its the regular henchmen who are tough as **** This is especially prevalent later in the game, when the enemies can take **** tons of damage; then dish out **** tons. Combine this with the worst balance i've ever seen in a game, and the most unrefined controls imaginable and you have the perfect recipe for **** THIS GAME". There is a special place in hell for the developers of this game. Shockingly enough Infamous Second Son looks ridiculously awesome, so i'm still going to try it out. But at the end of the day, **** THIS GAME... Expand
