  1. The gameplay turns mundane as you blast target after target with no real feeling of being the all-powerful Iron Man. Worse yet, it suffers from too many setbacks with its flying and ground combat.
  2. A lazy wasteful mess. [June 2008, p.103]
  3. Even fans of the comic won’t have fun with this piece. At the beginning, the permanent explosions are quite entertaining, but soon they get as boring as the monotony of a firing machine gun. No, thanks!
  4. The fact that I was constantly thinking about what button to push, even as I was rounding into the final set of missions, well...that's just a big design no-no. [June 2008, p.72]

Flying is fun, the upgrades are neat, and the game can look good. However, these pros are outweighed by the aforementioned frustration, crappy storyline and lame cutscenes.
  6. Needless to say, I played this entire game tense, angry, and praying that the next level would be the last. I never really felt like I was in control at any point during the game. The summer movie games usually bring misery, but I never expected them to bring this much pain.
  7. Yet another poor movie conversion, it’s hard to keep playing.
  8. Overall Flying is sometimes a joy, but Iron Man is basically repetitive, confusing and graceless.
  9. If we add a repetitive level design, a problematic gameplay and some poor technical elements, the result is... the typical movie adaptation. And unfortunately, Iron Man stays painfully true to this rule. [June 2008]

We've come to expect a missing coat of polish on film tie-ins, but Iron Man seems to lack even a level of care, resulting in a drab adaptation that sinks well beyond simple mediocrity.
  11. Everything about it is unpolished (save for the bearable shooting), from the graphics to the lack of any comprehensible plot, demonstrating why you should just go and see the movie instead.
  12. 30
Generic and boring visuals; ridiculous difficulty curve; weak controls.
  13. This product is too crude for even the ‘mainstream’ demographic; it can only possibly appeal to the ignorant.
  14. The animation is basic, the environments look last-generation and the whole game just looks dead, as if it was thrown together by a work-experience lacky at the last minute when SEGA realised they'd forgotten something.
  15. 30
It seems Secret Level somehow managed to circumvent everything that can make games fun as they produced Iron Man. It's not awful, but its decidedly below average from beginning to end. The game is not necessarily the laziest attempt at a cash-in I've ever played, but it's certainly on the right track.
  16. Littered with slowdown, needless cut-scenes and droll monotonous play, Iron Man is as disappointing an effort as Sega has published in its entire history.
  17. Don’t be a sucker. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
  18. There is absolutely no reason why you'd want to play this game, no matter how big a fan you are.

The sound, look, and overall design is awesome. You know what? The clout and pull that a character like Iron Man has is enough to do that just by READING the title. The rest of this game, particularly the controls, and I mean, the controls here, are atrocious. I love aviation games. I am really good at them. So I get the whole up is down and down is up thing. That doesn't excuse this game and it's terrible control scheme. The only other thing that might back these people up on this awful game and the control scheme is, well, the PS3 was a pretty new system at the time. So they might have had trouble rushing this game out(as all Licensed and tagged to a movie type games are) while using this new, at the time, system and everything that goes with it. Too bad they don't just take a cue from Rocksteady and take a licensed character and make an "un-licensed" game. What I mean is, not have an Iron Man game be attached to a movie, the way Arkham Asylum did. Please, consider it, oh Marvel Comic Gods. Please. Full Review »

as plain and as boring as it gets... however it offers huge worlds and good graphics so it would be cruel to rate it lower. I just wish that it was made as well as the movie... Full Review »

This game is very well, take the control of Iron Man is a Pleasure, the action is great, you should be very astute to evade the missiles, The stages are fantastic, Iron man control can be complex for some, but really enjoy it because it gives the impression of being in the suit.
