  1. Swedish western shootout works like a charm. The game encourages to work together and the fast-paced action is sure to give thrills. Lack of maps is the main concern, but this is easily repaired with DLC, which is hopefully on the way. [June 2010]
  2. Cowboys, sixshooters and nice multiplayer action. It's hard not to like Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West. Save from some annoying spawn points, this is great multiplayer fun with charming graphics, a lot of content and many different game modes. A highly recommended download for everyone.

A very competent class based shooter. It holds up well against the competition, and brings a style unique to the genre.
  4. In the end, I suppose one could make the argument that Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West would be a great buy at $9.99 and a better-than-average buy at the current $14.99 price point.
  5. With a diverse group of characters, game modes, and maps, it's a good choice for those who want something with some instant satisfaction.
  6. Lead & Gold: Gangs of the Wild West is far from being equal-to or superior-than Valve's popular squad-based shooter. It will manage to get you by, especially for $15.
  7. The only real problems Lead and Gold faces are because of its net code. You'll often be kicked back to the menu, the game may even crash on occasion and there are some issues finding enough players at times, particularly if you're searching for specific game modes.
  8. There are no fancy graphics here or much customisation to help your characters advance, gain better weapons and before stronger – however, for the price this is certainly a neat, fun game and it will most definitely fill in my need for a cowboy related shooter until Red Dead Redemption comes strolling into town.

I don't think Lead and Gold is going to replace Team Fortress 2 for any of the fans out there. There's just not a lot in the game, but what is there is fun, stylish, and cool.
  10. Lead and Gold's straight-shooting multiplayer action is good fun, despite a few drawbacks that tarnish its appeal.
  11. Lead and Gold isn't a terrible game, but it is a ghost town. There are enough thriving games of similar design to be found elsewhere.

It won't replace scheduled sessions with Team Fortess 2 -- nor is it as good -- but Lead and Gold is extremely fun and has an exceptional amount of potential if Fatshark is willing to fix some of its more glaring issues.
  13. Light-hearted and fast shooting fun but your precious gold is better spent elsewhere. [July 2010, p.98]
  14. 65
    Annoying lag. [Issue#193, p.103]
  15. Providing Fatshark can quickly patch the problems, then the player base may build. But that's a big if, and while its problems remain, it's difficult to see Lead And Gold making a big impression on players schooled in big-budget multiplayer thrills.
  16. Visually the game won't win any "wow" awards, but it fits the bill if for what you need.
  17. What you're left with is a hastily put together, barely competent multiplayer shooter that looks as though it fell out of the PS2 ugly tree and scraped its poorly rendered face on every branch on the way down.
  18. There are simply too many bugs in the game, stuff that really shouldn't have gotten past the game's testing, it's absolutely no fun to suffer random system freezes and dropped hosts.

A good downloadable game that is essentially a Red Dead Redemption Multiplayer clone. The gameplay is good, have not had any glitches or problems connecting. My first gripe is the fact there are only 4 options for loadouts and no way to customize them. Another is the fact there are only 5 maps. Nothing great, but ok. Full Review »
