  1. The Beatles: Rock Band was a success because of its incredible soundtrack and a pure vision when it came to presentation. On top of that, it was the best iteration on Rock Band’s gameplay elements to date. Lego Rock Band tries to drink from the same well and even has the benefit of tapping a seemingly new audience. But, due to poor setlist choices and stability issues, it’s just not up to snuff when held up against the already impressive Harmonix offerings.
  2. Lego Rock Band is a good musical game, which perhaps will fall short for players who enjoyed Rock Band 2 or The Beatles: Rock Band.

It's a kind of pricey track pack of a bizarre setlist for a really fun rhythm game.
  4. Lego Rock Band, while not a bad game, is easily the weakest in the series.
  5. Lego characters and some great songs don't guarantee a new feeling to a brand that is becoming old.
  6. Ultimately as pointless as it is lovable.

LEGO Rock Band has become a decent game which is especially meant for children. You can expect another tracklist then usual. The LEGO style is nice to look at for a while, but adults can better choose another music game to play.

If you play LEGO Rock Band as standalone game and then export the tracks to your hard drive, you’ll get the best value out of this title. Anyone playing this merely as a standalone game without any extra DLC, or using it as a track pack, will have to carefully evaluate the included tunes before they Lego of their cash.

It's fun while it lasts, but it certainly won't blaze any new trails as far as virtual rockstardom goes, and diehard fans of Rock Band should hope that the devs return to their hard rocking roots for the next genuine installment. [Feb 2010, p.89]
  10. Lego Rock Band tries to cater to adults and kids, but in the end isn't too successful in that. While the game certainly looks fun for everyone thanks to the use of Lego, the choice of music certainly isn't for everyone and the lack in online options can be a deal breaker as well. It's still an enjoyable music game, but not very balanced.
  11. A lot of work clearly went into crafting the Story Mode, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s a different package for the same old Rock Band setup: play songs, buy stuff to outfit your band with, and travel to other places where you play more songs.

I'm left wondering who Lego Rock Band is really for. It seems to be trying to cater to everyone, but it ends up simply unfocused, and occasionally outright sloppy. It doesn't actively offend, but it's nowhere near a must-have, even for serious music-game fans.
  13. An easier, more slimmed down version of the Rock Band games that doesn't really benefit from the Lego brand. Only for those who think the song list is great.
  14. It's just a bit too childish with the LEGO pieces as band members, and the setlist isn't too inspiring either. Thankfully the songs can be exported, which makes sure that they can be played in Rock Band 2 instead.
  15. Lego Rock Band is a fun game, but clearly inferior to any other game of the franchise.

It's far better This is the first game ever on my PS3 that I can play with my any member of my family and we are all very happy with it. It's far better then the new guitar hero titles that present boring songs and poor presentation, I mean you can't even know the difficulty level of a song, they invented the intensity term tat says nothing. I found that it's even better then rock band, because you can pay instead of just fail and there are some minor improvements to the game play that someday will move to rock band as a patch. Lets face it, I most of the music titles for the ps2/ps3, I think this is the result of the evolution of them all, for my family, this is the game of the year. Full Review »

It's only slightly more playable than the other rock bands because Lego will give you quite a humorous story line of your Lego rock band's rise to fame. Still, it's a game that everyone in the household would rather watch than play themselves. Full Review »
