  1. Traveller's Tales has once again combined a popular game series with the world of LEGOs, adding their own brand of humor and personality to create a one-of-a-kind band experience that can be enjoyed by families and hardcore rhythm gamers alike.

The most well-rounded Rock Band on PS3. [Jan 2010, p.115]

It doesn't stand on its own quite as well as some of this year's other music titles, but it's still a fun, quick romp through pop music seen through a Lego filter.
  4. Grab your sense of humor and your plastic axe and give Lego Rock Band a try.

Not the best value rhythm action game, but a fun party piece. [Jan 2010, p.78]

The game isn’t designed to be a videogame masterpiece, but it succeeds in doing what it attempted to – entertain.
  7. It’s easy to be skeptical of LEGO Rock Band as a quick cash grab, but Traveller’s Tales’ trademark LEGO silliness blended with a few interesting new mechanics from Harmonix elevates the game to a level fans of both series shouldn’t brush off.
  8. Despite the lack of online play and songs missing from the set list, Lego Rock Band's happy presentation, enjoyable soundtrack and rockin' gameplay will keep you entertained for quite some time.
  9. LEGO Rock Band does a great job of tailoring the core rhythm gameplay to its intended audience. And if you've ever been a fan of LEGOs and have even a passing interest in music games, you'll have some fun with these blocky rockers.

Take away the (great) LEGO visuals and chuck a few extra songs in there and there’d be no reason you wouldn’t be able to pass this off as Rock Band 3. [Christmas 2009, p.76]

In gameplay terms, LRB is essentially no different than any other Rock Band title. [Jan 2010, p.81]

A great addition to the Rock Band series; the version to buy if you've younger siblings to play. [Christmas 2009, p.76]
  13. The soundtrack is definitely more mature than what was found in Band Hero, but LEGO: Rock Band doesn't do a whole lot to drive the experience forward.

LEGO Rock Band is the same as the other Rock Band games, but with the LEGO influence. The gameplay isn’t really different compared to the other Rock Band games. It’s fun to play thanks to the great humor of LEGO. The perfect Rock Band game for the kids.
  15. Whether you're young or old, the LEGO characters and cute vibe will likely appeal to your sensibilities. All in all, LEGO Rock Band is a quality game that will get the whole family jamming together.
  16. LEGO Rock Band has a place in this industry: it’s a Rock Band for families concerned about the appropriateness of the content.
  17. This charming rhythm game is especially good for first-timers, but it's a little light on content.

Lego Rock Band really does a great job of delivering top-quality presentation and a decent array of songs.
  19. This is the Rock Band game that all the family can easily enjoy. If you’ve been struggling finding a music game that you won’t have to monitor the song list, Lego Rock Band will put your mind at ease.
  20. The game has a decent amount of charm, and the mini-games are nice background distractions. The song list is diverse enough to attract a wide range of players and the game holds on to a light-hearted theme with the animations, background graphics and overall mood.

The shallow tracklist and short-lived experience do harm things somewhat. [Issue#187, p.72]

It's far better This is the first game ever on my PS3 that I can play with my any member of my family and we are all very happy with it. It's far better then the new guitar hero titles that present boring songs and poor presentation, I mean you can't even know the difficulty level of a song, they invented the intensity term tat says nothing. I found that it's even better then rock band, because you can pay instead of just fail and there are some minor improvements to the game play that someday will move to rock band as a patch. Lets face it, I most of the music titles for the ps2/ps3, I think this is the result of the evolution of them all, for my family, this is the game of the year. Full Review »

It's only slightly more playable than the other rock bands because Lego will give you quite a humorous story line of your Lego rock band's rise to fame. Still, it's a game that everyone in the household would rather watch than play themselves. Full Review »
