Having been an avid street fighter player for well over a decade it was with surprise that I never played this game before it came out on PSN. Firstly, it is quite different to Street Fighter 2->4 in the mechanics of the game, its faster paced and quite frenetic but it is possible to put together some major combos. The range of characters is vase but finding players outside of Magneto, Sentinel, Psylocke and Storm is unusual except maybe a few SFIV players as Ryu or Cammy. I prefer SFIV but I do like this game but my score reflects that the game is not as much to my taste as the Street Fighter series. I would also mention that the training option is not great, you cant record moves for the dummy and practice against certain combos for instance.... Expand

In my eyes, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is among the best fighting games ever crafted and I'm thrilled to have it on a modern platform. I judge this port--especially the PS3 version--"worthy."
  2. Capcom's called it "the best fighting game net code ever created for consoles". We're inclined to agree. When all is said and done, if you're a fighting game fan MvC2 is an essential purchase.
  3. Still a magnificent fighter but it lacks new features and the depth of its stable mates. [Sept 2009, p.80]
