It's just a shame that all of these awesome options are lumped onto games that, as I have said time and time again, are completely and utterly broken. However, if you can take a step back and not take your losses too seriously, MvCO is an amazingly fun time with smooth netcode and awesome extras.

As a history lesson, Marvel vs. Capcom Origins is a great experience. Both Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes and Marvel Super Heroes hold up surprisingly well.

Marvel vs. Capcom Origins is the definition of what every HD fighting game re-release should be and as long as Capcom continues down this path, high anticipation for Darkstalkers Resurrection is foreseeable.

Oops! Capcom did it again! Another HD collection is here, this time featuring Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel Vs. Capcom. HD filters, in game challenges, GGPO and a lot of extras to unlock, are good enough for a 1200 Microsoft Points deal.
  5. With Marvel vs. Capcom: Origins you get two games for the price of one: Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of the Super Heroes. Both great arcade classics with a great cast and now with some great online features. [November 2012, p.92]

Unless you've been practicing your finger exercises and reviewing your combos, Marvel vs. Capcom Origins may wind up with somewhat limited lasting power. Sure, unlocking the various extras in the Vault will take a long while, but in the end, fighting games are simply meant for fighting others.

Origins is a fun excursion into the not-so distant past.
  8. Still, this minimal-frills two-pack is definitely entertaining while it lasts. [Holiday 2012, p.76]

As a compilation itself, Marvel Vs Capcom: Origins makes no sense since it is not showing any true origin to the beloved franchise. Both game have not aged very well, still showing the same balance issues from the past. It's a well done package, but designed only for nostalgic gamers and curious people.

As copies of the modern versions can be picked up for a comparably low cost, with a still existent online community, I cannot recommend this to anyone but an old school fan looking to revisit some memories.
  11. Marvel vs Capcom: Origins is a bland and unexciting update of a couple of classics that have long been superseded. [December 2012, p82]

No one asked Iron Galaxy to port two of Capcom's mid-90s gems to modern markets, but then again, no one's complaining. MVC and Marvel Super Heroes have aged very well and despite not holding up the momentum MVC2 did only a few years later, they are an excellent source to the material that followed. Full Review »

Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel vs Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes hold up surprisingly well nowadays in comparison to the many dated fighters of its time, and despite its uneven price, it should offer some nostalgic candy to former players and maybe even some retro delight to new players.
