  1. A brilliant game youi get for free with "MGS4." What's to complain about? [July 2008, p.64]
  2. Metal Gear Online is really a damn lot of fun for hours…at least after one has struggled through the rather annoying application process and finally managed to get online. Apart from some minor glitches in some of the context sensitive actions (the very same as in the main game) everything runs smoothly.

MGO is a strong, stable foundation for a very promising online shooter.
  4. Without being the most accessible shooter ever, Metal Gear Online is compelling, and perfectly able to grasp players for quite some time.
  5. Metal Gear Online is a fairly entertaining online shooter that suffers from slow-paced gameplay and unnecessarily elaborate level design. [Sept 2008]
  6. The slower pace might frustrate those used to COD4's adrenaline-soaked battles or Warhawk's arcadey clashes, but it's still a thrill. As a Metal Gear game it works beautifully, capturing the series' essence perfectly. [July 2008, p.108]
  7. Although it has some regrettable issues, the execution of Metal Gear gameplay in an online setting makes for an enjoyable experience that is, at the very least, worth sinking a few hours into.
  8. If, however, Konami plans to turn this into an ongoing spin-off with commercial potential then it needs serious work to either shape it into something outlandish that could only be done online with the Metal Gear series, or to better blend the Metal Gear elements into the established tropes of the multiplayer action genre.
  9. Metal Gear Online has a lot of potential for an online-only game, but it just seems incomplete at the moment in regards to content.
  10. Metal Gear Online is offered with Guns of the Patriots, and, being free, most of its flaws can be overlooked. As a game by itself, it would show little argument facing other heavy hitters available on the platform. Eyed as a bonus, it offers enough fun to be worth some time.

I'm the guy who has clocked 1000+ hours on this game, played Survival and Tournament mode every day, and practiced box-popping and instant headshots for hours. If you are new to this game, the newbie lobby can be fun. But prepare to be crushed once you're level 6. The community is mostly elites nowadays, and trust me, most are horrible kids and/or glitchers. But MGO itself is so good. The skill-system, rewards, character customization, controls (though they take some getting used to) are great. The way you can run your clan is very well done, most games don't include a special clan room or page (I'm looking at you, CoD, where you can only add a 'clan tag', LOL). Team Sneaking is the best mode in ANY game, EVER. The specials characters and their own skill sets are awesome. Survival and Tournament will keep you playing for hours. Metal Gear Online is the best online game I have ever played. I highly recommend you try it out. The community is **** but the game is GREAT. Full Review »
  2. Before it was tortured by MAO and little **** that cant play without a switch this was a great online game....... a 9 easy. Now though. Its full of cheats and lag switchers lol i was a level B player and i struggle to get C+ and keep it. If your not level 16 plus you dont stand a chance... not that half the players aquired their grade A- to BB without a switch now days..... so its a 9 without lag and a 4 with it. so my score is Full Review »
