  • Summary: Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge will allow for direct control of Guybrush, allowing players to forego the old point-and-click system of navigation if they choose, and will include an interactive object hint system that can be used to highlight objects of interest in the environment. Pirate historians will "arr" with delight with in-game audio commentary from the game’s creators as they share their thoughts and memories about the making of the game. Players will also be able to get a glimpse of yesteryear with an in-game art viewer offering up classic glimpses of select areas of the game. Expand

  1. Amarcord operations like this one should be enforced by law: a masterpiece of videogame history is proposed again with new graphics and a new style. All has remained as we remembered, with its ironic strength and its perfection. Simply a myth.
  2. Improved graphics, improved controls and the game itself is often argued to be the better of the two.

There's no denying that LucasArts is treating its revered series with the respect it deserves. [Issue#195, p.102]
  4. This really is a special edition. [Sept 2010, p.94]

Even if you´ve played the game in the Amiga days, the new edition is worth another trip to melee and Monkey Island.
  6. Relish the chance to experience it afresh. [Oct 2010, p.77]
  7. The base experience of Monkey Island 2 is still as sharp as ever, though, with some of the wittiest dialogue and intelligent puzzles ever seen in an adventure game. It's just a shame the "special edition" part is a bit of a letdown - it's more of an average 2-disc edition than a deluxe Criterion version.

Bought this game yesterday on PSN for $13 AU (talk like a pirate day sale lol) along with the first one. I've gotta say, this far exceeds its predecessor in terms of gameplay. I haven't put it down since purchase. Overall, it's a really good game that, like countless others would tell you, brings back the old school in a spectacular fashion. Expand

Overall it's a blast: great graphics and music, great fun gameplay and not pretentious or violent or any way like that which is how most games are today. Brings it back to the old school!! Expand

Clearly this game is oriented for old gamers who know the game but it will still make you laugh and smile.

The new graphics are really cool,
and I hope to see more remakes from Lucas Arts. Expand
