  1. Amarcord operations like this one should be enforced by law: a masterpiece of videogame history is proposed again with new graphics and a new style. All has remained as we remembered, with its ironic strength and its perfection. Simply a myth.
  2. The entire package does a fantastic job of delivering all the fun, brain-teasing puzzles and hilarity for which the series is known.

Relish the chance to experience it afresh. [Oct 2010, p.77]
  4. You really have to either hate point and click games with the burning passion of a thousand suns or not like dealing with downloadable games to dislike this title.

Even if you´ve played the game in the Amiga days, the new edition is worth another trip to melee and Monkey Island.

There's no denying that LucasArts is treating its revered series with the respect it deserves. [Issue#195, p.102]

This is a comprehensive package. [Sept 2010, p.113]

This really is a special edition. [Sept 2010, p.94]
  9. Improved graphics, improved controls and the game itself is often argued to be the better of the two.
  10. The base experience of Monkey Island 2 is still as sharp as ever, though, with some of the wittiest dialogue and intelligent puzzles ever seen in an adventure game. It's just a shame the "special edition" part is a bit of a letdown - it's more of an average 2-disc edition than a deluxe Criterion version.

So this is not a surprised that we encounter the same flaws, I would even add one as I felt like Guybrush was more clunky to move in this episode, but some of the puzzles are just un-logic and you'll figure them out by luck wich is a bit annoying in this kind of game.
Also without spoiling the end of the game was confusing and let me with a lot of questions that (at the moment) are still without clear answers from Ron Gilbert.
A "niche" game that will please the old-school gamers and may even introduce a few young gamers like me to the genre.

I've gotta say, this far exceeds its predecessor in terms of gameplay. I haven't put it down since purchase. Overall, it's a really good game that, like countless others would tell you, brings back the old school in a spectacular fashion. Full Review »
