    No More Heroes is still a great game, if a little inconsistent; dozens of inspired moments with the dullest sandbox world yet produced as the hub, sacrificing fun for drudgery, yet somehow getting away with it, a fast-paced action game, coupled with a frame rate volatile when you do anything too fast. This is a deeply flawed game but it is brilliant; overcoming a multitude of shortcomings and refusing to be crippled by its own flab.

    A cult classic, a rare and crazy gem that demands your full attention from start to finish. The conversion from Wii to PS3 hasn't been entirely without fault, but it's still well worth picking up, especially if you never experienced it the first time around.

    This is the best version of No More Heroes available. Uncensored and with high definition graphics, it includes new content and the possiblity to use Move and enjoy the same experience as the original. But it loses the surprise factor, and does not make the most of PlayStation 3 capabilities.

    A fantastic game that has a lot to offer. It's got a unique flavor, some fantastic boss fights, excellent combat, slick visuals, and more than a few lines of dialogue that will have you laughing giddily. It also has a bit of an identity crisis that has you brutally killing waves of enemies one minute and cleaning the town of garbage the next, so the flow is a bit off.

    Though not radically different from the Wii version, No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise remains a blood soaked, mayhem filled title that is definitely deserving of a look-in for those who are yet to experience the world of Travis Touchdown.

    No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise is a great porting of the original game published time ago on the Nintendo Wii. The HD lifting is quite good and the addition of 5 bosses from No More Heroes 2 is a nice touch. Anyway, the old problems are still there, not enough to ruin the experience but to enough be somehow disappointing.

    A slightly flawed gem. Any technical or gameplay flaws are made up for with unrelenting violence, dark humor, remarkable characters and a vicious attitude. Definitely worth picking up for players who have missed out on the-series to date. Fans of Suda51 or japanese weirdness will have a field day with this game.

    It's a game about games, and stuffed with the kind of scenarios and salacious tidbits that presuppose a largely male, largely 20-something audience ready to get lost in them...So let's put it this way. If you masturbate with any degree of regularity, you'll probably really enjoy No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise. And you can quote me on that.

    This (finally) uncensored version is a remake of the first No More Heroes, now in great looking HD. Suda 51 was the team involved in the development of the first game and we love their style, great sense of humor and exaggerated characters. Move is a great substitute for the Wiimote, and the lack of a Nunchuk is not a big deal for performing combos and wrestling attacks. And this time you can also use the DualShock 3 gamepad. The game is almost identical to the original one and we only have a few additions like the dreams (replay old cinematics) and nightmares (replay old battles). We had hoped for a major improvement in the visuals, but only the light effects are noticeably better. If you are looking for a extremely fun and unique action game for your PS3, don't think too much about this, just pick Heroes Paradise and start hunting assassins.

    The only issues with the game is the sometimes repetitive gameplay and odd graphical glitches. Add in an online leaderboard, mini-games and that bloody entertaining beam katana which makes all my Star Wars fantasies come to life and No More Heroes - Heroes Paradise is the perfect game for those looking for something light.

    The many identical henchmen start to grate and the boring and awkward free roaming gets also gets annoying pretty quickly. But, you also get and enormous amount of style, strangeness and violence.

    If you never got around to playing the original on the Wii, or are just looking for an interesting, although flawed, game from the strange mind of Suda51, you can't go wrong with Heroes' Paradise.

    Everyone needs to play this game, despite its imperfections, because its uniqueness deserves your attention. Pick up this crazy, super stylistic, ultraviolent adventure. It shines, despite its technical shortcomings. Go decapitate some f---heads.

    No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise alternates between a unique art direction, full of great moments, to some technical flaws that are hard to swallow, especially considering that the game runs on a PlayStation 3. The very simple structure, which uses various tricks to break an otherwise absurd monotony (ten boss fights in a row?) should have been supported by a deeper gameplay and, furthermore, by better graphics.

    As the Wii version is pretty easy to find for around $10, it's hard to recommend this mixed bag of an update, knowing that the less buggy original is $30 cheaper.

    Its wanton weirdness is still as charming as it was on the Wii, and its nonsensical narrative is always enjoyable. So if you're anxious to rekindle your bloodlust in the most over-the-top manner available, Heroes' Paradise may be worth a look.

    It's really too bad we had to give this version a lower score, but the game just doesn't live up to the potential of being a superior version of a beloved game. Instead, it's an inferior version due to the controls, and the graphical improvements are nearly nonexistent.

    A fantastic game, held back by some frustrating design decisions. For every moment spent whooping in delight as you vanquish a foe, you'll spend two more grimacing as you have to mow someone's lawn, or try and pry yourself free from a lamppost. When it's good it's almost unbeatable, but the filler in-between is exactly that.

    This game is really strange and has a main character who likes weird stuff, sex, jokes, blood and more. It's actually a Wii-game in High Definition so not an entirely new game. It's funny to play but doesn't offer anything special.

    The PlayStation Move support, the humor, the style and the gameplay is fun. But No More Heroes: Paradise does also have a lot of less good point, like the side-missions, sometimes the humor is way to cheesy and the driving elements of the game doesn't really work. The game is a bit extraordinary, but fans of this kind of games will enjoy this.

    It's a 1:1 port from Wii, it's technically equal and Move isn't fully supported. What worked in 2008, simply isn't enough nowadays.

    But really, part of what makes No More Heroes so enjoyable is the nearly nonsensical story, which is still intact here. Lots of 4th wall breaking going on by all parties, and a whole lot pokes are made at popular culture and various geek loves, like Star Wars, Transformers, and others.

    As a sandbox game No More Heroes is extremely bad – the city is ugly, repetitive and almost completely empty. Those who dig the Japanese craziness will appreciate the game's biggest treasure – its atmosphere and absolute unpredictability. First you save your progress in a toilet, a moment later you run around with a lawnmower doing a side quest, then you agree to assassinate a corporate boss and at last you listen to the protagonist's philosophical monologue about the meaning of life.     No more Heroes: Heroes' Paradise for the PS3 is a sloppy port from the Wii version (2008). The Move controller can be used very effectively for the hack-n-slash part of the game, but the missions are repetitive and boring. Technical problems like bad frame rate, the lack of anti-aliasing and insane tearing are also present.

    It's shame that this port has been borked so badly; I don't think No More Heroes found the audience it needed on the Wii, and Heroes' paradise isn't going to do this franchise any favors.

It is essentially a shined-up, HD port of the Wii title with a few extra bells and whistles. The action is solid and the bosses are memorable. The only downfall would have to be the constant grind for cash, as it is required to move forward in the game and the side-jobs can be aggravatingly repetitive. I would definitely recommend downloading the demo before purchasing the title, as this game is not for everyone. Full Review »

However, what you get in this HD version may not be what you have been expecting.

    The game has received a rather substantial graphical overhaul in Heroes' Paradise, with enhanced character models, particle effects and lighting effects. For what it's worth, the game does look nice. The character models in particular look wonderful, as do the particle effects. It's hard to appreciate either of these things when the game has serious screen tearing and framerate issues, though.

    For my money, the graphics here may actually look a bit worse than the original game. Even if this port didn't display framerate issues, the framerate as a whole has been cut to a variable 30fps; half of what the original Wii title ran at. On top of this, all of the deeply contrasted cel-shading effects from the original game are absent. To paint a clearer visual representation, shadows in the Wii version were flat black, with no real shading to be seen. Every shadow that appeared was just black, and it gave the game a very distinct, very appealing look, especially when you're watching everything unfold at 60fps when the game can reach it. The shadows in Heroes' Paradise are actually shaded, and the game loses a lot of its artistic visual aesthetic because of this. For comparison's sake, if the original Wii version were an underground, punk-ethos released manga, then Heroes' Paradise is the big budget, overtly polished, yet often soulless anime adaptation.

    The changes don't end with the visuals, however. The audio has taken some pretty substantial hits in the port. The enemies you slice up with Travis' beam katana are missing a ton of dialogue, and it's all been replaced with "My spleen!" and "I don't feel **** Virtually every enemy set you encounter will spout the same 3 or 4 phrases, while the Wii version had a ton of variation in what these enemies were saying. It's a puzzling change, and one I don't care for in the least.

    This isn't to say that some things weren't improved. Replaying side missions has never been easier thanks to a fast-travel option (something the original game was sorely lacking), and the visual style of the game is certainly more polished. It's up to personal opinion as to whether you prefer the redesigned aesthetic look, but I stand by saying it looks no better or worse than the original; it just looks different.

    Aside from the often unnecessary changes this port brought, this is virtually the same No More Heroes we know and love. Gameplay consists of fighting your way through 10 levels to reach incredible end-bosses, then grinding yourself silly for cash in the game's lifeless open-world; rinse, repeat. Personally, I don't mind these things. I can recognize that a lot of the game is repetitive, but despite that, the original No More Heroes is one of my favorite video games of all time. If not for its outright fun hack 'n slash gameplay and exploration mechanics, then for its satire drenched narrative that poked fun of video games and the people who play them. This is one of the most important aspects to No More Heroes as a whole, and thankfully, the narrative survived the porting process unscathed.

    The controls here have also been tweaked slightly to accord for Playstation Move owners. For the most part, it mimics the original Wiimote + Nunchuck control scheme rather well, but the problems arise with the PS Move's responsiveness. There are moments in this game that will require you to shake the PS Move quickly to escape certain pitfalls that Travis may find himself in, and it's very clear that the Move just isn't anywhere near as responsive as the Wiimote + Nunchuck combo. Even the motion for recharging Travis' katana battery was changed, and it too isn't anywhere near as responsive. These changes are not only confusing, but puzzling, since they are for the worse.

    Alternatively, you can choose to play with the Dualshock 3, which does fare rather well, and controls much like you'd expect any hack 'n slash game on PS3 to handle. I have the same problem with this as I do with playing No More Heroes 2 with the classic controller; it just isn't as satisfying. When you finish button-mashing your way through a long streak of beam katana attacks and enter "death blow" mode to swing your katana through an enemy's body, there's something esoterically satisfying about replicating that motion with a Wiimote. You all but lose that satisfying control mechanic with the Dualshock 3, which opts to use analog stick movement instead of motion controls. Normally, this would be something I would praise, but in No More Heroes' case, it just isn't nearly as satisfying.

    When the motion controls aren't nearly as responsive as they should be, and the Dualshock 3 controls aren't nearly as satisfying as they should be, you're left with a game that loses a lot of the appea

It's a game that never apologises for its short comings, but can't wait to point out why it is so f***ing brilliant. For each three hours of gameplay you will spend at least one and a half hours navigating Santa Destroy, one of the worst 'hub' worlds I have played in in my time as a gamer; made frightfully worse by protagonist Travis Touchdown's dodgy motorcycle mechanics. When you've saved up enough money beating a series of challenges and mini games Travis dispenses a princely finder's fee into an ATM and he rushes off to do what he does best; kill someone. The actual pre boss levels are thrilling endurance races designed to test a gamer, and then you have possibly ten of the most unique and crazy boss fights this side of the millennium. Crazy, fun, not perfect but doesn't have to be. Heroes Paradise will sit on my game rack as one of my little guilty pleasures for some time to come. Full Review »
