Okami is one of the finest games to come out of Japan in the last decade, and Okami HD is absolutely the best way to experience this epic adventure.

Okami HD is the definitive version of Okami. It has the best graphics, fewest bugs, and most responsive controls if you are using a DualShock. It runs perfectly in widescreen 1080p without a hitch.

At $20, Okami HD is one of the greatest gaming values of 2012, representing the greatest and largest Zelda-like adventure to not come from Nintendo. It's been updated beautifully and features strong, complementary use of the Move technology.

Overall, Ōkami HD is an experience that should not be missed. It's stylized graphics and engaging gameplay really show that this game was ahead of its time with its initial release. Old and new players alike owe it to themselves to download it and either relive the adventure, or experience it for the first time. With its updated visuals and awesome gameplay, this is one that should not be missed.

The best choice if you want to enjoy this adventure. It's the very same game, but making the most of it. Adapted to the DualShock 3 and PlayStation Move controllers, Okami is still a game we recommend you to (re)discover.

If you have played Okami before, or if you are interested in it now that the remake is here, there is no doubt in my mind, you really need to pick this game up. I usually don't say this, but this is more of an experience than it is a game. The story is charming, the visuals are beautiful, and the presentation makes me smile from ear to ear. This is one of the better HD upgrades and well worth the time and money. I can not suggest Okami enough.

Okami HD is the same magnificent action-adventure game that many gamers enjoyed back in the PS2 days, with minor updates such PS Move compatibility, Trophies and HD graphics.

This is Okami's third appearance. It began on Playstation 2, was ported to Wii, and now we have the high-definition version. If you missed out previously, there's really no reason why you couldn't drop $20 on Okami now. It was originally released back in 2006, but it's one of those games that is standing the test of time extremely well.

The HD-ification of Okami is a stunning success. The improved visuals alone make the cheap price of admission worth it. And if you missed this game in 2006, now's the perfect time to make up for it.

You could just plow through the story and ignore a lot of the side stuff and be completely happy. In fact, you'll probably get a good 20 plus hours out of that. However, if you choose to feed all the animals, collect all the treasures, complete the bestiary and find all the beads you'll find it very rewarding without being too tedious.

Okami HD is the definite version of the classic adventure. It is an amazing feat for a six year old game to look better than most of its recent rivals. A true classic, filled with emotion, adventure and laughter. [Feb 2013]

The definitive version of one of the most beautiful video games ever created, not to mention the best Zelda game that never was.
  21. While the game's temple design is never quite as consistently expansive or ambitious as a Legend Of Zelda, Okami's art, sturdy combat and inventive noodle-teasers have aged as gracefully as Jeff Bridges distinguished chin fur.

While Okami may never have sold the numbers it deserved, it was as worthy than, as it is now, of all the praise that was heaped on it. Upgraded visuals, and a stellar $19.99 price point added on to that already complete package makes this the version of Okami to own.

Virtual & timeless beauty. That's what Clover Studios managed to bring the world six years ago. Okami not only has aged well in its core mechanics, it continues to be the masterpiece it was, and proof that a game can touch us like the music or the movies, directly to our hearts and souls. Amaterasu's epic journey is a must-have in this generation of games that look so cloned each other, that makes even more unique this unique tale of freedom, love and justice that will never look so better than now in High Definition.

What's really amazing about Okami is that it is just as good of a game today as it was six years ago when it was first released. An HD release that barely had to touch a thing to still be one of the best games available today.

Okami HD is a great way to own one of the finest from the PS2 era.
  33. Despite these flaws, however, Okami is still one of our favorite games and more than worth a meager 20 bucks. [Holiday 2012, p.82]
  34. The 2008 original was dubbed 'the PlayStation's Zelda' and received wide critical acclaim. Despite that, Okami was criminally underplayed and its shallow sales triggered the collapse of a great developer. It'd be an absolute sin to see that history repeated here. So buy this classic. Wolf it down. [Christmas 2012, p.74]

Playing Okami HD is a joyous experience, but it is sad to see that after six years it is still one of the best examples of its genre. Okami HD is fantastic, and hopefully this re-release will inspire a new generation of game designers to play, enjoy and then scoff, "Ha, I bet I could do better".

Okami HD is a timeless classic, full of charm, subtle ingenuity, and beauty, remade in stunning HD, yet sadly it's embellished with some graphical issues. It's a must-have for first-time buyers, but offers little improvement for those who have already enjoyed all 40+ hours of the game on other platforms.
  39. 90
Let us hope that the next generation of consoles will bring back games enchanting and inventive like this one, marrying the joy of being different to the tradition of good, sturdy game design. Until that day, buy this one!

It's often discussed if video games can be an art form, and there are a lot of arguments both for and against. Okami HD is a strong argument that games at least have come a long way by giving a simply magical experience in every way.

Okami HD is a great example of what games can accomplish outside the realm of guns and gore, and I love it for that.
  42. It still plays like a Japanese fairy tale infused with intelligent Zelda-like gameplay and a riveting plot. It's a history lesson about Japanese culture and mythology. It has a fantastic soundtrack. It's Okami. It's in HD. Buy it. Now. [December 2012, p.94]

With its new face, Okami HD has never been so close to perfection, deserving its legendary status thanks to its beautiful visuals and its amazing soundtrack. Coming back from the dead, Cover Studio's title remains thrilling, offering a good opportunity to discover Amaterasu's adventures on PS3, especially for players that never had the chance to buy it the first time.

Still, for every demon slain, more beauty is restored to the land, as gorgeously rendered-flowers and wildlife spring up from the scenes of battle. And the wildlife that roams Nippon not to be feared, but rather fed, in sickeningly cute cutscenes.

There is a reason those 2 neg reviews have not said anything. They can't possibly tarnish this game without the world knowing they are trolling.
Gameplay: 10 - The pacing is amazing, the combat is different then any other game and works beautifully, you gain rewards often and none of them are too powerful or underwhelming. Combat flows well, puzzles are rewarding.
Graphics: Beautiful, different, a treat for the eyes.
Sound: Sound effects are great and music is insanely well matched to the game.
Entertainment levels: At maximum! The game is very fun with a lot of side quests to keep the player busy and entertained.
Worth the money and so much more.

Many re-released games do not stand up to their own legacy, fans loving them with the clouded eyes of nostalgia. Okami is not one of those games. Not only is it still one of the most beautiful, complex, and well designed action-adventure games of the last generation, the re-release is probably the best of this generation as well. When it came out seven years ago, many (myself included) dismissed it as a Zelda clone and left it at that. The truth is, the Zelda franchise has been slowly trying to capture the magic of "Ocarina of Time" without ever quite succeeding, tacking on more and more unnecessary gimmicks to hide its reliance on decades old franchise tropes. This does not mean Zelda is not still fun, but it certainly hasn't broke any new ground since 1996. "Okami" does not have this bogged down attachment to old tropes like a musical instrument, previous boss battles, set number of dungeons, creakily familiar plotlines. Every system is fresh from the ground up, from combat to level layout to world design. It is also surprisingly large for an action-adventure game, clocking in (for me, a side quest aficionado) at around 60 hours. Yet the game is so tightly woven -- nothing, absolutely nothing is worthless busywork (coming out of AC3, this feels pretty great). Every little collectible quest will actually give players tangible rewards, not just a worthless trophy. And it's easy to say a game is pretty to look at, but it's another to say the game's artistic direction actually matches the tone of the story and enhances it. Everything in this package belongs there, works together, and most importantly, feels fun. This is the first "10" I've given any game on this site, and for me it means I can't think of anything to improve. This is masterful work, and with the HD rerelease there is just no reason to miss this king of its genre. Full Review »

This game is a condensed tome of all famous tales and legends from Japan, the art is awesome, the music is very traditional and well paced within the game content, gameplay is simple and clean, you will definitely enjoy the game with the move controller but the dual shock is OK. ::::::::::::::::::::::::: This time, the game includes a platinum trophy and it last about 30 hours, 40 hours for completionists and explorers, it has several locations and environments keeping your travels fresh, the combat system and enemies are a bit repetitive, there are three kinds of weapons, beans (whip), shields and swords, but they do not lower the level of fun this game has.:::::::::::::::::::: If you want to play the main tales of japan in an extensive RPG format, with beautiful graphics and traditional music, this game is for you.
