  • Summary: Overlord II is the sequel to the warped fantasy action adventure that had players being delightfully despotic. In Overlord II, a new Overlord and a more powerful army of Minions take on an entire empire in a truly epic adventure, inspired by the rise of the Roman Empire. As the Glorious Empire conquers kingdoms and destroys any sign of magic it finds, it's time to go Minion Maximus and send in the horde. The Minions return smarter, deadlier (and funnier) and are ready to fight in large scale battles that will see their wild pack mentality squaring up to the organised legions of the Glorious Empire. As ever, they'll do anything and everything the Overlord commands of them, especially now that they can run ravage and wreck buildings and scenery. They've also learned how to ride: In Overlord II Minions mount up and ride wolves and other magical creatures around the landscape and take them into battle, making our band of merry fighters faster and fiercer than ever before. Overlord 2 offers a lot of options for customization, be it in the form of minion upgrades, spell specializations, and purely aesthetic options like how to decorate your fortress and which of your mistresses you choose to favor.
  2. Never has pillaging and murdering countless citizens been so fun, and so funny. I love games that let me be the bad guy, and Overlord lets you do all that and more.
  3. A decent effort that will need a few tweaks here and there to perfect it.
  4. As an exercise in flexing evil, it's far more tiresome than it is enjoyable and as an advert for the freedom of evil, it may as well be Hitler's screaming head in a vacuum-sealed bell jar. [Aug 2009, p.126]

One or two little problems with the camera / controls, but this is due having the minions to control aswel. Overall it's a great game that can stand up there with the RPG greats of the world. Expand

The camera blows but the game is still very enjoyable.
  3. Overlord 2 is a pretty fun game, and is one of the better games I've played when it comes to being satisfied with the gameplay. Camera is flawed as it is the same as moving your minions around. Sometimes the camera angle can end up getting all screwed up and you'll find yourself having a bit of trouble running around. It can get a bit annoying if it happens in a narrow area. The visuals of the areas and towns look pretty, vivid and decent but the character models are most definitely bad and out dated. The controls aren't awful, but it is kind of annoying as rotating the camera and moving your minions are both the right analog stick, as stated previously. The story isn't very serious but it has a certain appeal to it that keeps the experience fun, making good and bad choices for different outcomes is always a great way to get more replay value out of your game as well. Very enjoyable game, some great humour in it. One or two niggly issues here and there but nothing that detracts from the gameplay, recommended if you're looking for a refreshing and entertaining game. Expand
