  • Summary: After a valiant struggle to stop the Chimera invasion in Europe, mankind must make its last stand on the shores of the United States. Resistance 2 places players in the heroic role of Sgt. Nathan Hale as he struggles against overwhelming odds to defend mankind from the unstoppable Chimera. While wrestling with this insidious war machine, Hale must also battle the virus raging inside of his own body that threatens to transform him into the very creatures he fights against. Powered by Insomniac Games' third-generation PS3 technology, Resistance 2 features a stand-alone eight-player, class-based online co-op campaign (up to 8 players) and 60-player online competitive multiplayer. An epic single-player campaign features a new weapons arsenal to combat giant boss encounters that increase the scale of the conflict to new heights. And players enjoy a new level of community support. [SCEA] Expand

The story presentation is bleak, the cut-scenes weak. But these are my only two criticisms, because everything else rocks! Brilliant technology, suspenseful fights, a hard, but never unfair difficulty, nice weapons and stunning enemies. Shooter-heart, what more do you desire?
  2. Resistance 2 does a fantastic job of improving on the original game, and is one of the best shooters available for the PS3. The single player campaign is an absolute blast, and the incredible multiplayer modes will keep you playing for months.
  3. Resistance 2 is the "Halo 3" of the PlayStation 3... there, I said it. A hugely anticipated, platform exclusive FPS sequel with a slightly underwhelming single player experience and an amazing, addictive online multiplayer component.
  4. Resistance 2 has thus far lived up to its expectations, it is relentless from the get go, the story drives home the point that this event is important in the grand scheme of things.
  5. Resistance 2 is a worthy successor. The single-player-campaign is action packed and the game contains more than enough different weapons, as we’ve come to expect from Insomniac. Resistance 2 lacks in the story department and is visually unimpressive, but makes up for it in terms of content. The online multiplayer can accommodate up to sixty players, and, together with the online co-op mode with parallel storyline, guarantees more than enough gameplay to keep you warm until Christmas.
  6. 82
Though it’s certainly a competent package, the overall feeling engendered by Resistance 2 is underwhelming. For every breathless set-piece that powers the single-player campaign, there’s another moment not far behind that peddles mediocrity, and every glorious vista is offset by sometimes derivative play.
  7. Resistance 2 is every bit the product of Resistance: Fall Of Man’s mentality: it’s OK to do things by the numbers so long as those numbers are bigger than everyone else’s. [Christmas 2008, p.91]

Enough with the retaliatory strikes with these user based scores. All gamers have been dancing this tune since the next gen console "war" broke and nothing has changed. I am a PS3 and Wii fan and own both. I do not own a 360 due to the fact that I prefer the other two consoles. However that is not to say I completely disregard the 360. If there was a game I would like to see ported to the PS3 it would be Gears and I bet 360 owners wouldn't mind seeing the likes of Resistence or Killzone sent over to 360. We all have our views on our particular favourites but at the end of the day, if we didn't have the competiion out there the gaming industry would be static and in a bad way. Just look at the way (in my view) things went for a while when it was just Ninty without Sega to give it any comp. At the end of the day the majority of games appear on both or all consoles and we should just enjoy what we like and to hell with the other camp. And when we do get the exclusives (ie: Killzone, LBP, Resistence and MGS4) we should just sit back and enjoy the green faces eminating from the 360 camp. The hardcore 360 fans started this nonsence by giving LBP a low score. So what!!!? That shows the jealousy. Just ignore them and concentrate on the beautiful title that only you can play while 360 owners pine for something as brilliant and creative. Expand

Good game. Anyone who even dares to say that Gears 2 has a better multiplayer, go burn yourself on a hot stove you stupid fanboy piece of shit. I had anticipated Gears 2 more than anything, and I was let down. Granted, Resistance 2 might not have the BEST multiplayer or story ever made, but it CERTAINLY dominated the fuck out of Gears 2. If your that much of a fanboy, at least compare it to one of the few GOOD games that the 360 has... like, uhh... well... not Gears 2 for sure. I would give R2 about an 8 or 9, but since I gotta bring the score back up from the dumbass fanboys, I gotta give it a 10. Expand

The only complaint I have at the moment is the split screen bug while trying to play online coop. Everything else is stellar. Getting 8 competent people together to take on the coop missions is fun as hell. Personally I enjoyed the campaign, though I wish it had been somewhat longer. I don't feel any need to elaborate on how sweet 60 player team death match is. Expand

tried the beta, and its quite action packed, choice of 3 classes and interesting weaponry. The Coop map I tried in the beta is pretty good too. There is the concept of leveling up your character a bit like CoD4. if you are hesitating, you should definatly give this game a try! Expand

Wow lets capitalize on two of the most profitable first person shooters and take Halo and combine it with Call of Duty, and then add a little Ratchet and Clank for "originality". From our experience with that series we only need to add new guns in order to make a sequel without any real gameplay development. Our work is done gentlemen (by people who've virtually already done it for us of course). Expand
