  1. In general, the camera is what's keeping Rocketmen from being a ton of fun. But it's still a nice diversion.
  2. While Rocketmen: Axis of Evil doesn’t give off the best first impression, those that take the plunge and buy the game will find a good game that worships the old-school shooters a bit too much at times.

While it represents better value than many of the titles it rubs shoulders with in the PlayStation Store, it's too annoying to recommend to anyone without a forgiving, patient and, most importantly, mindlessly trigger-happy disposition. [Issue#165, p.93]
  4. A mindless romp that is probably worth the ten dollar price of admission. If you're expecting a title that will provide you with lasting appeal, then you will be sorely disappointed.
  5. Rocketmen mixes cel-shaded graphics with old serialized space adventure to provide a twist to old-school, top-down shooting.
  6. Rocktmen could be thrilling, especially considering the genre isn't exactly prolific, and the four player co-op mode is appealing, but there are many issues.
  7. 55
The half-hearted RPG nods, quixotic story treatment and frustrating camera detract from a core of solid gameplay.
  8. Rocketmen Axis of Evil would have been a stellar hit in the 1980s when I was pumping quarters into arcade machines. In 2008 it’s a mediocre title at best.
  9. The game itself isn’t much fun, regardless of the number of players. With its plodding, monotonous pace and scattered presentation, Rocketmen doesn’t do enough to separate itself from the seemingly infinite number of other dual joystick shooters available via Xbox Live Arcade or the PlayStation Network.
  10. With juddering graphics, haphazard gameplay, and voice acting that will put you in a mental asylum, this is a download you can definitely skip.

Very frustrating game, not fun at all. It has a horrible scrolling mechanism; many times you'll find yourself stuck at the edge of the screen without being able to get to the item or enemy you want until the game decides to adjust itself and let you do that. I'll take Robotron circa 1982 over this one any day. Full Review »
