    I really wanted to like this game, and have historically liked most snowboarding games (1080 series, SSX series, Amped Series, etc). However, several things really killed this game for me. First the controls felt clunky and unrealistic. The jump landing felt and looked incredibly bad. Most jump landings that should have ended with my guy flat on his face, unnaturally landed, and kind of just popped the guy into pace. The graphics were pretty good, though they didn't do a very good job with the motion/snow blur (the graphics were too static when moving, motion blur would have definitely helped). The exploration part of the game was interesting, and I could see some people really enjoying. But in general, there seemed to be an overwhelming lack of direction and motivation. In general it felt like the game, the controls, the physics, the gameplay, and the graphics were never polished. I guess I will be waiting for another snowboarding game on the PS3.… Expand

    This is a game full of promis, and it is actually quite fun. However, owning a PS3, you expect good graphics. In this game, nothing is antialiased, shadows change shape completely as you get closer. Also, it seems like it is not made for viewing in 1080 as details emerge in a smaller fram (800x 600) and outside this frame details disappear. Looks funny. It feels like hasty work.

    SSX this isn’t. What it IS is a much truer representation of what our sport is. We aren’t; a bunch if “cool” dopes looking to break our heads open on insidiously stupid tricks. We board in the real world on real slopes with real potential and limitations, and this game does a fantastic job of emulating this while still being a blast to play. For boarders looking for better representations of our sport, it’s hard to beat Shaun White Snowboarding.… Expand

    I've been waiting for the next great snowboarding game for a long time and seemingly Shaun White Snowboarding was being heralded as the "premiere snowboarding game" of this generation.....and sadly, it missed the mark in several areas. For one, the graphics engine runs of the same one used for Assassins Creed....which is adequate enough and it uses it nicely but its simply not THAT impressive. the character models, mountains, and structures look nice but lack a certain detail to really make them "stand out" and it gives the game a rather vanilla look but luckily the framerate is fairly smooth. Soundwise....thats a toss-up because you're either gonna dig the music or completely HATE IT because its a mish-mash of pop-rock, hip-hop rock, rock, or some very disco-ish sounding music....and while some of it is acceptable....ALOT of if just dosen't fit at all and comes off being annoying. the soundeffects and voice acting are nice but Shaun Whites voice gets old after a while.....its just not very convincing and it sounds a bit lazy. the controls are ANOTHER mixed bag for this game....they also fall under the love it or hate it category. you steer and spin in the air with the left stick, you do grabs and "tricks" with the right stick, and you jump with L2......now this control set-up may not seem like a big deal....until you start ACTUALLY playing then it become a test in frustration. the controls aren't terrible, but it WILL put some gamers off should they have been expecting something more user-friendly.....with some practice its certainly playable....but mastering these controls will require some time and patience. Its a bit strange that ALL the mountains are at your finger-tips from the start.....so going back and forth from mountain to mountain is nice as each have a certain amount of "missions". Overall.....this game is "average" in almost every sense of the word....its fun if a bit frustrating and on a technical level its nice looking but very plain. i cant really recommend it....but i can't tell anyone to avoid it either....so this game goes down as a RENT-BEFORE-BUY… Expand

    I had so much fun playing the game! Being able to ride anywhere on the mountain made it seem more like really riding. My heart rate definitely increased when I triggered an avalanche! It's nice to play a game that is based on having fun and not blowing something or someone up. Thanks Shaun!

    Shaun White Snowboarding is not worth your time unless your desperate to waste some cash, though your better off burning it, you'll get the same level of enjoyment from it. Games controls are solid, and thats about all thats good, the story..... is non-existant, the cut scenes are excruciatingly painful to watch, the trick list is 'meh', the four mountains are well made but very plain, the game seems like they went for the realistic snowboard route, but then stopped 3/4 of the way and went for the 'ssx' route, and failed at both. The game lasts about 5 hours before i refused to continue due to utter boredom, the multiplayer is fun.... till you get sick of throwing snowballs at each other, very disapointed as this could have been a good game, but they messed it up at the gameplay aspect, especially the jumping and landing mechanics which can be summed up in one word 'CRAP' although that word could be used for the entire game. Soundtracks good though.… Expand

    It's good fun, even if it doesn't feel quite as thrilling as we would have liked. With a little more tweaking of the controls and maybe a new approach to the genre à la Skate, this could have fared much better.

    It's clear that Ubisoft had some big ideas for Shaun White Snowboarding, but many of these have been hampered by an overly difficult control scheme, cumbersome navigation, a terrible map, too much collecting and a disappointing frame rate. The recreation of the four ski resorts is excellent, the online functionality is well thought out, and at times the views are magnificent, but the game just isn't as much fun as it should have been.
