SingStar Volume 2 is the absolute epitome of what we think videogaming should be about.
There's little in the way of innovation to be found here, but it's a finely tuned package. [Sept 2008, p.76]
In the end, SingStar Vol. 2 is aimed to the following public: those who don't own the previous game, or those that do not have easy access to the SingStore.
Back in May, Sony delivered the best SingStar experience ever and sent a clear message to its competitors. But here, it regresses. Sure, it’s maybe good thing for those who haven’t bought the first game but I just don’t understand why, a person like me who downloaded some songs out of the SingStar Store, would buy this one with no noteworthy options like Trophies, Online Multiplayer or a track ripping system a la Rock Band 2 for those who don’t download premium tracks. Don’t get wrong though, this game remains a cool game, it’s just that I expected more.
Ambiguity aside this is a fairly middle of the road follow-on to an ace series that'll still amuse endlessly.
Whether you want to fork out for that will depend, as ever, on your approval of the track listing.
Owners of the first part better hold on to their money and buy songs they really like in the SingStore.
