For long time fans of the franchise, Skate 3 will seem very familiar, however it’s hard to argue with a successful formula and this formula has worked like gangbusters so far.
  2. 100
Between the consistent improvement of the game's core concepts, and the Black Box's encouraged experimentation, Skate remains in a genre all on its own, but only time will tell if continued re-iteration will cause this still fresh series to stagnate.
  3. This game shows off how fun it can be to skate. Many innovations, preferably the new online features, help skate 3 being a must-have for both sport and skating cracks.
  4. While this latest title doesn’t take any huge risks, I would argue that’s a good thing. Skate has always been one of those rare games where you can just aimlessly play with no goals or objectives.
  5. Honed, if familiar fun, but online focus causes solo player wobble. [June 2010, p.80]
  6. 86
Simply the best in the series and as such the best skateboarding game on PS3...Its sense of fun and superb control mechanics are still without equal. [Issue#192, p.82]
  7. And custom content is really where Skate 3 shines. EA has provided a massive toolbox for creating and sharing elaborate skate parks using the title’s new skate.Park feature.
  8. This is the definitive version for anyone who found the last two games too daunting. It never outright holds your hand, but the new tiered progression system and online co-op make it easier for anyone to enjoy the game, while not leaving the hardcore Skate fans out of the fold.
  9. 85
Skate 3 is the best game in the series. Unfortunately, it contains only a few new things compared to the second part.
  10. There's more content here than you could shake a stick at. What's more, it is all incredibly well put-together; from the single-player career to deep customization and truly robust online play.
  11. Definitely the best Skate effort yet - but more of an update than a truly worthy sequel.
  12. 83
Skate 3 doesn't deviate much from the series' winning formula, but by heavily focusing on the multiplayer it ignores some of what made the first two games so unique. Still, the subtle changes all work for the better and the underlying design mechanics are still as entertaining as ever.
  13. What Skate 3 does, it does it good. It is better than the second installment and brings some interesting online modes.
  14. 83
SKATE 3 is a very cool game. It has got a lot of challenges in a huge city and fine but difficult gameplay. If you are looking for a realistic skateboard game, then SKATE 3 is the one you must go buy. The humor is great, it plays great, the audio is cool and graphics are nice.
  15. Skate 3, to be blunt, doesn't offer a great deal that's different to the previous two games in the series, with the added team, online and sharing functionality being the key additions.
  16. It could've used better visuals and artificial intelligence, but Skate 3 lives up to the hype. It plays well, offers a lot to do both online and off, and its team-building and park creation modes will keep you busy.
  17. While the gameplay is better than ever, the overstuffed presentation makes sticking around long enough to master anything that little bit tougher. [June 2010, p.110]
  18. Skate 3 is the best skateboarding game out there. It’s certainly no revolution, but due to its strong gameplay and some great additions we will be impressed if Shaun White and Tony Hawk will reach this standard.
  19. Virtual skate drive was never so much fun. Community elements enrich the game's experience and guarantee Skate 3 to be up to date long after its release. [Issue#192]
  20. If you’ve waited until now to give this series a shot, Skate 3 is as good a place to begin as are. It’s more of the same in some ways, but certainly better in others. We just haven’t fallen in love with the city. [July 2010 p74]
  21. Skate 3 is mandatory for all fans of skateboarding.
  22. The best entry yet in the Skate franchise, and the best skateboarding simulation ever made for a gaming console.
  23. Skate 3 may not be more than an evolution of the two first games, but it is a damned good evolution. Port Carverton is a skaters paradise, and the introduction of difficulty levels invites both new and veteran gamers to enjoy the fictional city on four wheels.
  24. The best skateboarding game available today.
  25. 80
Thankfully the gameplay is still the most impressive virtual representation of skateboarding around and the new audio treatment will delight fans of the series.
  26. With that in mind, if you're pretty happy with Skate 2, or even the original Skate, and don't care a great deal about the online aspects, I wouldn't suggest picking up this latest entry right away. However, if creating your own online team with a group of friends sounds like a blast, then Skate 3 is certainly worth checking out. It's definitely a solid entry in the series and at least warrants a rental.
  27. This is not a huge leap forward for the series but at the same time I don’t think it had to be. There are some gripes I have with the size of the new environment but when it comes down to it there is no question in my mind that this is the best skateboarding experience available right now.
  28. Whilst some of the changes in Skate 3 may not be evident at first they are all worthwhile. However, the new skate park editor and co-op team play really make this latest iteration standout and make it a worthwhile acquisition for Skate fans.

Any gamer who is still searching for a worthy contender to the skateboarding game throne, look no further; your game has arrived.
  30. Skate keeps improving, but this new installment doesn't offer many new things.
  31. Skate 3 represents the maturation for the brand. The good number of new options and the overall quality make aren't enough to make this game a must have for the owners of the previous title, but it's undoubtedly made for fans and a good start for novices.
  32. A great experience for skateboarding and extreme sports fans. Not perfect, but another superb installment to the series.
  33. Though we miss the earnest realism of the original game, Skate 3 offers the most complete package thus far, so feel free to hop on board. [July 2010, p.79]
  34. If you're strictly a solo player, you'll probably find Skate 3 to be a sterile, temporary environment that doesn't feel as inviting as the previous game may have. But if you've even dabbled in the online world of Skate 2, you'll surely enjoy what Skate 3 has to offer.
  35. 80
It may not be the breath of fresh air that the original Skate was, but Skate 3 still offers up plenty of innovation in its robust skate park creation mechanic, engaging multiplayer feature, and expanded move list.
  36. Skate 3's gameplay is still as stellar as ever. Just about everything that made the series cool to this point is back.
  37. EA's latest skater caters to newcomers and experienced boarders alike, and features a robust system for creating and sharing content.
  38. Together these features make Skate 3 a robust installment in the series and without a doubt, the best skating game currently on shelves. But whether there’s enough here to draw in new audiences is another matter.
  39. Skate 3 manages to remain the skateboarding game to beat but ultimately lacks the evolution and balanced, challenging experience that gamers expect from a third installment in the series.
  40. Skate 3 is the best skateboarding game at this time. It is still fun, intuitive, and there is plenty to do and see. Toss in multiplayer fun for a group and you have yourself enough satisfaction to last you 'til the next incarnation of the series shows its face...probably a year from now.
  41. Unless you’ve slavishly scoured every inch of the first two Skate games, it’s hard to recommend throwing down a large slab of cash for this update.
  42. While refinement might be the best way to make a good game better, it certainly isn't the best way to justify the cost of a second sequel in as many years. [June 2010, p.101]
  43. If you like the previous Skate games, you'll probably like Skate 3 as well. It's a rock solid skateboarding simulation and it's both fun and easy to create your own skate parks. But if you don't want to play online, Skate 3 feels a little bit bare boned and is more like an upgrade rather than a brand new experience.
  44. It was a great concept, but the third instalment has disappointed. There really isn’t much depth to be found with Skate 3, due to the short career mode and lacking extra features.
  45. Pleasant, but a bit on the light side for series aficionados, and very forgettable if you don’t play online.
  46. With Skate 2 released just a little over a year ago, it’s clear that Skate 3 was pumped out too quickly. The ideas are great, but the lack of polish is evident with every flip, flop, and flub.

I love skating and such and i had just bought a ps3 so i wanted skate 3 and i got it
when i first started it up in the intro of the game i
noticed that the gameplay was very fluid and movement was great.
The hall of meat challenges were simply cool and challenging sometimes and you could teleport to those locations and play around for a bit there.
There is a huge world where you skate around in so that is a plus
And the coolest in m opinion is the skate park editor.
You can make enormous parks in this.

Despite all those good things there are a few flaws.
Like you can randomly fall to the ground or your board will glitch in your body but
overall it is a really awesome game with good gameplay, graphics for it's time
it's kinda buggy but i don't care about that

As a fan of the Skate series since the first one, I bought this game on release day. And I never looked back. It fixed all the problems of the first and second. Steering was hard, and adjusting the wheels did not help. Now, it's easy to maneuver. The Hall of Meat in Skate 2 was a bit stiff. Now, the player has more control, and the possibility of head-on incidents with saloon cars grows higher every time I play it. The story is a great idea. Legendary skater starts company and sells a million boards? EPIC. And in multi-player, its fun to just whack them with your board, or judo kick them in the face. I see no faults in this perfect installment. Skate 3 defines skateboarding video games. Full Review »

I picked this game up for $40 used at a local game shop and was pissed when I saw it is $40 new at gamestop this week. Never the less this is a very enjoyable game. The story missions are fun, and the hall of meat kept me entertained for hours. Once you beat all the missions this game becomes very stale. The online is the only thing that gives this game any replay value after beating the main missions. Full Review »
