The fast pace of the combat and fluidity of the tag mechanics truly bring Street Fighter X Tekken to the top of the fighting game heap...A fantastic fighting game that nails the basic fighting mechanics while daring to take a few risks with the formula as we know it; the pressure is on Namco Bandai to deliver something better with Tekken X Street Fighter.

Street Fighter X Tekken is fun for a wide range of players while still offering the complexity serious fighting fans have come to expect.

A fun game? Sure. Worth 60 dollars? Definitely. The next evolution in Street Fighter? Maybe not.

If you're a casual player looking for some throwaway fighting fun, this isn't for you-especially if you like playing online against strangers. On the other hand, moderate to hardcore players are going to find a lot to absorb in Street Fighter X Tekken, and players with patience will be rewarded for it.

Nothing like Tekken but high-quality fighting nonetheless, if you can brave the complexity. [May 2012, p.74]

A gift for fans of both series and fighting games players. A deep, technical and solid game that integrates perfectly the mechanics of both series. A huge piece of work that is a dream come true for those fans who have been expecting a crossover like this for years.

The core gameplay is top notch and is sure to please even the most hardcore fighting gamer. This crossover series has been long anticipated and the wait was well worth it.

Fighting game fans have been blessed with an embarrassment of riches over the past few years, and SFxT is definitely a top shelf example of the genre.

Street Fighter X Tekken is easily the best fighting game I have played since Mortal Kombat landed last year. Sure, the story mode is a little contrived, and the gem system mildly flawed for tournament play, but the sheer amount of everything else completely outweighs it.

While not without its problems and questionable design decisions, Street Fighter X Tekken is miraculous in that it even works at all. It simply shouldn't.

As an experiment and a sequel... Street Fighter X Tekken is still a resounding and admirable success, and further proof than Ono-san is hiding true genius behind those scruffy cords and pudgy cheeks. In this battle of Street Fighter and Tekken, Capcom has landed the first knockout blow. I can't wait to see how Namco responds.

Around 3 years ago, Street Fighter X Tekken would have been the messiah of the fighting game genre. Now though, the competition is good. Extremely good, and this title doesn't have enough contents to be the true King of virtual combat. Even if the gameplay is pretty great, the game had just one thing that could have made it better than its adversaries, the roster. All those great characters alone could have made this a must buy, and Capcom decided to cut 12 fighters from it (already on the disc) to sell em as DLC. What an incredible waste.

If you can get past the wait times and don't mind playing against the AI, then Street Fighter X Tekken is an enjoyable game and a worthy addition to your collection. I would just recommend having a fightstick if you are serious about playing.

I'm impressed: this balance between accessibilty for beginners and challenge for pros is something other fighting games should strive to copy. Street Fighter X Tekken is in a league of its own, in part thanks to the Gem system. The poor character individualization options and soundtrack are the only notable flaws. A fighting game that anyone – and that's what's special: really anyone – can take a swing at.

Street Fighter X Tekken isn't as ground-breaking as Street fighter IV, but it offers a wholly different and most of all innovative look on a well established formula.
  17. 90
Not just a great crossover game but a highly distinctive fighter in its own right, with some of the most innovative - and accessible - ideas to hit the genre in years.

It has little to offer fighting game fans bridled with brand fatigue and even less to Tekken players still wary of polarizing mechanics and the tricky jump to 2D. But in terms of keeping pace with innovation and bringing something new to the table, Street Fighter x Tekken duly makes the effort worth the while.
  19. Tekken fans will wait for Namco's own Tekken X Street Fighter to really sink their teeth into, but for the SF devout and series agnostic fighting fans, SFKT offers finely tuned and emergent action and a positively regal rumble of the genre's celebrated a-listers.

Capcom has put out a partially broken full retial game. I had fun with it despite its flaws, but $60 is too much to ask for what this game is.

Street Fighter X Tekken brings it in some places and slides by in others, yet it manages to be one of the best crossover fighting games in recent memory.

Many might question the new Pandora and Gem features, and the final boss is a colossal pain in the ass, but there's no denying the extreme responsiveness, fluidity, and depth of the gameplay.
  25. 80
Capcom did a magnificent job making the Tekken characters fully enjoyable, and the Street Fighter cast is as good as ever. Combine that with a huge selection of characters and excellent controlls and you have a winner. Only real downside is the Gem System and combo shortcuts that make the game more shallow than it otherwise would have been.

It does a lot of things right and is a blast to play competitively and casually. Unfortunately, Capcom's choices with DLC may have damned the game to a shorter time in the spotlight.

Capcom is on the ball when it comes to exciting fighting games. Say what you will about their DLC fiasco, but there's no denying when it comes to what matters, Street Fighter X Tekken is one exhilarating fighting game that is easily recommended for Street Fighter fans.
  30. Yoshinori Ono and the team at Capcom have done the impossible, crushing 3D fighters onto a 2D plane and making it feel coherent and surprisingly gratifying. [May 2012, p.74]

However, as a long awaited cross-over of two of the most important fighting titles in gaming history, it ultimately feels like an opportunity missed - the whole being nowhere near the sum of its parts.
  32. The Tekken draftees are the new Street Fighter characters you don't want to go home. Apart from integrating them visually into Ryu and co's saturated universe, each has had their exhaustive move set refocused to align with Capcom's different play style. It doesn't just work, it's brilliant. [May 2012, p70]

It's only at its peak when you're sitting next to another player, locally engaging in SFXT's brand of tag battles. Online, I found it to be a bit of a mess, and the game's attempts at meaningful character customization fall victim to layers and layers of slow-moving menus and a bundle of additional content that only serves to further confuse the issue.

A fighting game that you just can't miss! Controls are friendly and satisfying and the level of thrill Street Fighter X Tekken delivers is over the top. It's a pity that game modes seem half-baked and Blanka is available in DLC only. [May 2012, p.62]

The first step of the "fusion" between Namco and Capcom was quite successful. The fighters of the two worlds have merged well, there's much content to enjoy and the fighting system is as great as was expected from a game developed by Capcom.

Although the game is not Tekken, CAPCOM have done a good job at porting these characters to the Street Fighter franchise and if you're hankering for a decent fighter, than you should definitely check out Street Fighter x Tekken which is the best fun I've had since... err... Ultimate Street Fighter vs Marvel. It may not have pushed the genre too much but at the end of the day, it offers an honest fighter that most gamers will enjoy!

A great fighting game. It has its issues, namely the online multiplayer component and the underwhelming menus, but there's still good fun to be had.

After plenty of hype, I'm pleased to say Street Fighter X Tekken delivers spectacularly. Capcom continue to evolve the fighting genre by installing original gameplay mechanics, all of which welcome newcomers and series aficionados alike.

There's only so much a developer can do within a genre, of course, but this feels like the first time in a while that big changes have been made with such resounding success.

Much more than an amalgamation of two classic series. The game builds on Street Fighter IV's award-winning formula by introducing innovative new mechanics, and the result is one of the most tactically rich fighters on the market.
  42. Mar 6, 2012

There was an opportunity for a truly great technical fighter in combining Street Fighter and Tekken, but it's denied in favour of a strategy-light, juggle-heavy scrapper that - like Capcom's first cross-company crossover all those years ago - never quite satisfies.

This tangle thingy that's been quite controversial for some time is built upon well-established Street Fighter rules making more and more content out of the well-known genre. Don't get scared of its complex game mechanics and after a few hours you'll never want this action ride to end.
  44. 90
Capcom strays from the well-trodden Street Fighter IV path and finds – thanks to the support of the Iron Fist champions – a marvelous new interpretation of the idea of street-fighting.

Street Fighter X Tekken is a great game that despite the lack of a story mode manages to win you over with its no-nonsense gameplay and staggering roster of characters (including special characters on the PS3 version). If you've not played a crossover game yet, then this is the one to pick up without a doubt.

Street Fighter x Tekken may not reach the same amazing levels of perfection as Street Fighter IV, but it's still a must-own for everyone who appreciates a really good fighting game.

Capcom has delivered on the potential of the cross-over template admirably and created a game that's hugely engaging, always entertaining and feels like an easily justifiable extension to both Street Fighter and Tekken brands. It is disappointing that the online element isn't yet up to scratch, but when this issue is resolved Street Fighter x Tekken should have no problems standing on its own two feet.

A great fighting game, especially for Street Fighter fans. Tekken fans may end up disappointed though, since a lot of their beloved characters and moves have been omitted entirely. A rather large amount of online lag keeps the multiplayer from reaching lofty heights.

Street Fighter X Tekken is a worthy new fighting game franchise for Capcom, one that brings together two unlikely groups of foes in a game that blends a more traditional style of gameplay with some very interesting-if not slightly controversial-new ideas.

Straightforward and deeply satisfying... for now. [May 2012, p.66]
  51. Street Fighter X Tekken is much more than just a fun party game. Even better, based on the number of unique mechanics, we would say this is Capcom's best fighter in a long time. Whereas Street Fighter IV and MvC 3 only had one unique feature, SFXT has dozens. [April 2012, p.74]

A fantastic fighting game with a solid engine with unique style bringing two vastly different graphics together. Gameplay is fast and fluid, but the tag system of one partner dies, the other dies too gets annoying and feels sorta wierd. The cast is huge and varied and there is lots of modes from story to scramble. Online sucks though and there is constant lag. A fantastic game though. Full Review »

Thank you Capcom for putting content I cannot use on the disk! I will not pay more just to have all characters unlocked... seriously who cares about Pac-Man in a fighting game! But unfortunatly the DLC content is not just about characters, there is the gem system in that game and if you want to be competitive you will have to pay to get all the gems available in the game. The gem system is not even that interesting anyway. I understand that Capcom tried to attract casual players with this game and I think it's a good idea, but I doubt hardcore player will appreciate it. The one button preset combo thing is really retarded, it defeats the purpose of the game where all the strategy now goes into switching characters. Full Review »

......IM SICK OF YOU CAPCOM!!! .......... Capcom FAIL in everything they do.. every single game they release is a failure.. They destroyed the RE franchise by turning RE in a action game because survival games are not so profitable as action game like COD.. anyway.. Street FIghter X Tekken shows us again that Capcom only want to make easy money with less effort.. by selling DLC that are already in the DISC! The DLC content is already finished and it could be in the game but they want to make easy money by selling it later.. so its not a DLC its just a locked content in the DISC you bought that will be unlocked for more money later on..
