Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition is a welcome addition to one of the best fighters available today and something Street Fighter fans will undoubtedly eat up.

Ultimately, Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition is a super-sized character expansion pack to an already impressive game. For 1,200 MSP ($15 USD), you're getting four new characters, a slew of balance changes and some tweaks to the online experience. It's not a revolution in play, but if you've already mastered Super Street Fighter IV, it does make the experience fresh again.

If this is your first time considering a shot at Street Fighter, grab this as a $40 retail package, and if you have SSFIV lying around, I think the fifteen bucks to get online and get competitive again is a great idea too.

Only the hardcore will get the most out of Arcade Edition. [Issue#207, p.93]

AE is fun, but just doesn't have a whole lot of staying power.

Street Fighter IV's Arcade Edition refines and balances the formula from one of the best fighting games.

SSFIV: Arcade Edition brings everything that previous iterations have brought to the table, but with four new characters and some tweaks to the gameplay. Hardcore fighting fans will salivate, but casual fans will wonder.

Regardless if you choose to make the jump to the Arcade Edition or not, Street Fighter IV is always worth playing.

Arcade Edition adds more variety to an already near perfect 2-D fighter, but there is really not enough added here for the less hardcore fighting game fans out there.
  10. If you're just updating, think twice unless you're desperate to see a heartless Ryu murder everyone in his path. [Aug 2011, p.110]

A small, but really interesting update to a modern fighting game classic. There's a lot of fighters to play with now, so get to it!

Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition is a nice but a little thin update. The four new characters add to an already impressive lineup. The cost of the update is relatively small so fans of this fantastic fighting game should definately give it a go.

Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition tweaks Super Street Fighter IV in a way that only passionate fans can appreciate. Beside the four new charachter there's a completely different balance for old charachters that gives the game a more "rushy" style of play.

Capcom enhances again its blockbuster, although perhaps the new features are not worth the price. If you have not played the previous SF4 versions, this is the best chance to try the return of the classic fighter.

If you're a hardcore Street Fighter IV fan, you obviously have to purchase this Arcade Edition in order to enjoy the latest changes of your favorite game. But some details suggest that Capcom didn't really finish its job. It's a shame, even though their game remains a reference for the genre. For more casual fighters, the bugs and balance issues we're referring to won't be really apparent, but in order to save a little money, if they didn't already fell for the regular and Super editions, they'd be well advised to wait for the boxed version - because clearly, this DLC Arcade Edition remains a little expensive as is.

Despite its price, fan soundln't miss this DLC. Yes, it's just forur new characters, but the gameplay is completely different, and the pros will feel like playing a brand new game.

If you're an obsessive fighting fan that demands the most up-to-date experience possible, then by all means download this update to Super Street Fighter IV. But if you're a more casual fighter, this isn't a must-buy piece of content.

Street Fighter IV is still one of the best fighting games, but where Super Street Fighter IV was a upgrade with some new DLC included, Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition is a simple upgrade of Super Street Fighter IV. There are some subtile improvements and a few new fighters. But when you have Super Street Fighter IV or Street Fighter IV, than this isn't really worth it.

If you worship at the altar of Ken and Ryu, you'll have Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition already. If you're simply a casual fan, with Super Street Fighter IV already, there is no reason to get this as a stand-alone game, considering that the only noticeable additions are the four new characters which you can just download as DLC for Super Street Fighter IV.

If you are one of those players that takes their tournament stick around the country and competes against the best, you'll undoubtedly want Arcade Edition in your collection. However, it's harder to recommend if you're on the more casual end.

For new players, Super Street Fighter IV - Arcade Edition is a great game to enter the world of Street Fighter. The casual gamer won't find much fun in this new arcade edition but the fighting fans will have the time of their life!

Arcade Edition is the most comprehensive version of Street Fighter IV released to date, and an essential buy for fans who don't already have Super Street Fighter IV.
  23. Not quite a new game but certainly more consequential than regular DLC, Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition exists in a strange middle ground. [Aug 2011, p.84]

Honestly, the level of enjoyment you'll get out of the game will largely depend on which character you play. If the character you play is now one of the stronger fighters on the roster, then you'll most likely have a blast steamrolling the competition.

  1. I good addition to Super Street Fighter IV. It's much more than just 4 characters, most characters have had a few changes to them which changes the game a lot and how it can be played. If you're still active online, get it. If you want to get into Street Fighter IV, get this addition on disc. Full Review »
  2. I have played nearly every type of fighting game and this is the by far the best game I have ever played in this genre and even the might street fighter 3 is pale by comparison. Full Review »
  3. It is definitely a good addition to the already branded as the best fighting game of all time (Super Street Fighter IV). The developers also release the balance patch 2012 version which makes this game complete. The only thing that I have NOT see from this series is the character that has a combination of five different fighting styles (Street Fighting, Martial Arts, Kickboxing, Wrestling & Submission). The character that has speed, power of grappling skills & submissions in one. This would definitely create a higher level of "X" factor excitement. Full Review »
