Overall SuperStars V8 Racing is pleasantly surprising. After a good few hours with the game it will still be pulling you back in for another go, teasing you to master that tricky hairpin, or to find the perfect car set up. Whilst many of you will be looking to Sony and a GT5 release date, I urge you to divert your eyes a little and give this a try.

    A worthy $20 PSN download.
  3. It's fast, smooth and pretty. [July 2009, p.93]
  4. Although it doesn't have any intention to reinvent racing games, mastering all the aspects of the competitions takes some time and dedication, weeks of enjoyment steering this virtual racing cars. Recommended for beginners and for racing games fans waiting for a more purist game.

Superstars V8 Racing is a worthy PSN title to pick up for racing fans. That being said, it isn't as cheap as most store offerings, and so just how essential it is depends on your budget. I enjoyed my time with V8 Racing, and I know plenty of other people will too.
  6. Superstars V8 Racing is a nice surprise, a good game with great visuals, that let you play in your own style, arcade or highly simulative. Unfortunately there are some flaws, like the handling, actually a little bit broken, and the usual game modes.

Nothing about Superstars V8 Racing is glaringly bad, aside from the tiresome menus that need to read your save whenever you make a selection.

Superstars V8 Racing works hard. It strives to be a true-blue simulator that sacrifices a few things here and there for the sake of its digital format and price tag. For the most part, it doesn't do a bad job.
  9. Superstars V8 Racing is a good game with a lot of detail for realism. There are enough races and cars available to entertain you for a while. However, due to the lack of game modes, the game doesn't achieve the status it could have reached.
  10. Superstars V8 Racing is a good game with a lot of detail for realism, but it lacks any spark to make it stand out in the face of competition.

It has all the features and polish of a big-budget simulation, at least until you leave the pit area, and find yourself in a slick arcade racer with a lot of features and some aggressive computer AI. The multiplayer could be fun but I never found anyone playing online so good luck with that.

Superstars V8 Racing is a decent enough racer for the price, it looks great, and it's got enough content that you won't feel cheated for spending $20 as you wait for Sony's behemoth.

It's all about racing in Superstars V8, and that's exactly why there is a lack of game modes. If you're looking for such a game and you don't expect much more, then Superstars V8 Racing is certainly made for you. But for most of us its probably a bit to simple.

2010 has been a busy year for the racing genre with games such as Need For Speed, Blur and GT5 all being released this year. SVR does little to separate itself from the competition and that's where it ultimately falls flat.

Superstars V8 Racing is a decent downloadable racer for the PSN, one that stays true to its somewhat obscure license. Still, shoddy handling, generic car graphics and feel, and single player-centricity make its $20 price point seem higher than it should.
  16. A competent racer with good looks, but it lacks any spark to make it stand out in the face of competition. [July 2009, p.83]
  17. It doesn't make you feel as involved as GRID or feel half as realistic as GT5: Prologue. [July 2009, p.77]

The Sequel to Superstars V8 Racing isn't a big improvement in the franchise, but can be fun for the fans. The racing is a bit too simple, but is enjoyable. The annoying part is the audio and the many moments of saving and also the loading times.
  19. 63
More than anything else it falls foul of not offering enough weight in terms of gameplay modes and AI challenge. [Issue#181, p.84]
  20. Players can wholeheartedly expect to get a full 20 dollars worth of speedway spirit here, but those with relined expectations for their racing sims will only become more ravenous for a true main course. [Jan 2011, p.86]

Superstars V8 Racing is a downloadable title, and therefore not as fleshed out as a retail release. The content is fun and very playable, but may not be worth the price of admission with much bigger racing titles already on the market.

Superstars V8 Racing does not really crash or burn due to its flaws, it just bumps into walls and finishes somewhere in the middle of the pack.

For $20 this is a decent racing game and will satisfy fans of the genre, but there are plenty of better ones available for the PS3.
  24. Superstars V8 Racing isn't a game for veteran race fans but it drives well enough to please casual gamers. The game is however light on modes and the intelligence of your opponents is poor.

Superstars V8 Racing is enjoyable to play online and is not a complete waste in single player, but at the same price as Burnout: Paradise, I have a hard time telling anyone to buy it.

Superstars V8 Racing is as tame as they come. With no campaign mode (or anything resembling a single-player experience), gamers are left with this disappointing budget title. The racing is fine and the graphics look good, but there aren't enough tracks and the multiplayer is a ghost town. There's no reason to buy this over the upcoming Gran Turismo 5!

While it's got some decently slick looks and offers passable gameplay, Superstar V8 Racing just fails in every other respect to provide a unique enough experience to cover up the flaws.

At $20, you have to be a desperate PS3 owner or an extremely dedicated racing enthusiast to download Superstars V8 Racing.
  29. V8 Superstars Racing is a game with several flaws in every aspect. Visually it's an average game, without many interesting features. Its gameplay is strange, illogical when it comes to driving and with a physics engine that is not fair with players. It's a game to forget.

It's a great stab at getting back to when TOCA was great, ok it's a series even I (racing fan) had not heard of, but it works.... Admittedly the 4x4 audis are easier to handle, but the M3's and 550's are also good, if a little tail happy. All in all, it's a good racer, more on the realistic side, and not easy - but fun.
