  1. Dark Resurrection doesn't have all of the extra features you might expect from a console release of a Tekken game, but this is offset by the pretty fair price and the fact that you can finally play the game on any size TV screen you have and with an arcade stick (like, say, the Hori Fighting Stick 3), to boot.
  2. Overall, the bottom line is that even though this isn't exactly a next-generation game, it's still Tekken. In fact, it's the best iteration of Tekken, thus far.

The depth and variety on offer in this deluxe editon of Tekken 5 is superb. [May 2007, p.76]
  4. Each character has the classic Tekken combination of throws, punches, kicks and spinny flying kicks that never fail to impress, and since the game is simply about fighting, the characters are balanced beautifully to provide easy to pick up, hard to master gameplay that feels far in advance of the current £6.99 price tag.

In terms of gameplay, think of Dark Resurrection as "Tekken 5.5" - the basic combo-based fighting is pretty much identical in execution. [May 2007, p.102]

With great graphics and playability, along with a slew of cool characters, Dark Resurrection is an exceptional fighter—if you just want a familiar old school coin-op experience. The lack of the story mode, online play, and mini-games is disappointing.
  7. Tekken V: Dark Resurrection is still fun to play and it's much better than most of the competition. It's just a bit of a letdown because it feels to me that the developers missed a chance to fully take advantage on the PS3's capabilities.

It's the arcade game (hence the lack of modes) that has been put on PS3 with some graphics updates for HD, Hi-res play. Once of the main reasons for it is to appease people trying to do tekken tournaments with this game, which gets really hard at an arcade with one game, and you can't do them on the PSP. $20 for this is amazing. Solid game, HD graphics are great. This game will keep me busy while Soul Calibur IV comes out.

The original version was lacking many modes and the customization system is poor. I would give this a five out of ten.

A excellent second update over the original version on the PS3. It has much more content than the original PSP and PS3 version. It includes the classic Tekken 5 stages, more customization options, more game modes and Jinpachi Mishima as a playable character. The only reason why its not getting a 9 or perfect 10 is the lack of other noticable modes such as Story Mode, Team Battle Mode, Time Attack Mode and Bonus Games.

It is still a fun game.

Compared to VF, the moves and graphics suffer, and the game hasn't really moved into the HD era just yet. Although you're running at 1080p, you still see some rough edges which you don't expect, and realise this is just a rush job to cash in on the public's demand for new ps3 content. I'll wait for Tekken 6. Expand
