As the era of the nation-state draws quickly to a close, the rules of warfare evolve even more rapidly. More and more nations become increasingly dependent on private military companies (PMCs), elite mercenaries with a lax view of the law. The Reykjavik Accords further legitimize their existence by authorizing their right to serve in every aspect of military operations. While the benefits of such PMCs are apparent, growing concerns surrounding giving them too much power begin to mount. The Enhanced Reality System is the backbone of the HAWX flight experience: radars and incoming missile detection, anti-crash system, damage control system, tactical map and information relay, and weapons trajectory control. E.R.S. also allows players to issue orders to their squadron, making this system as iconic to HAWX as the Cross-Com system is to Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. Players can ease into their flight missions and gain a level of comfort with the use of the assistance mode. Once employed, players can take full advantage of their technological support through the E.R.S and gain maximum piloting security. If the situation calls for the player to unleash the full potential of the aircraft, the assistance mode can be switched off and all safety features will be deactivated. For the first time ever in the air-combat genre, players can experience the entire solo campaign in four-player JUMP IN co-op mode. In PVP mode, players can challenge up to 15 friends in intense dogfighting sessions and find out who's the top gun. Winning players are rewarded with experience points and money to unlock more weapons. Players have the opportunity to take the throttle of over 50 of the world's most famous aircrafts, as well as being able to dogfight over realistic modern landscapes that have endured years of post-war trauma. 1. H.A.W.X. is the best flight game so far this generation, and a worthy addition to the best in the Clancy stable.

Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. is a game every fan of the dogfight genre should buy. But other gamers that are not into air planes, will find a very nice game as well.
  3. HAWX features multiplayer dog fighting that runs smoothly over Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. Hokey dialogue mars the otherwise stellar presentation and flight sim fans will balk at the simplistic controls.
  4. HAWX was definitely a fun shooter, and while it's not something that I would see appealing to every FPS/third-person shooter fan out there, it's certainly worth checking out.
  5. As the first episode of a brand new series, Tom Clancy's HAWX is not bad at all: the gameplay is solid, there's a good number of missions and the online multiplayer works good though its limitations are certainly noticeable. The game shows some nice locations, too, while the planes aren't as good. If you like arcade shooters, you may enjoy it.
  6. Rolling and tumbling through the sky in a supersonic aircraft is converted into pure awesomeness in H.A.W.X. Its fast-paced arcade gameplay and stunning graphics offer lots of joy for all kinds of players, but the thin online content and lack of a cooperative mode is a huge disappointment.
  7. I think what bugs me the most about this game is that I had my original expectations set pretty darned low before it came out in the hopes of being easily-impressed, and sadly, it ended up meeting many of these low expectations.

Perfect for pick up and play with a wide range of planes, missions and weapon combination. Sure the leveling is really slow but this only adds to its replay value. Multiplayer however is deserted. Above the clouds the game in terms of graphics and action sets new standards though, is playful but still room for improvement. The idea ofAbove the clouds the game in terms of graphics and action sets new standards though, is playful but still room for improvement. The idea of the back story is interesting in the game but rather unimportant. In addition, the presentation between the inserts for a "Tom Clancy" games as relatively weak. The controller, just flying without electronic aids, requires a certain break-in period, but then works perfectly and allows extremely thrilling dogfights, which are indeed the core of the game. The sequence of operations is varied and allows the pilots no time to rest. Expand

This is the best arcade modern air combat game you can have right now on the PS3 until Ace Combat: Infinity, a F2P game, comes out. The flightThis is the best arcade modern air combat game you can have right now on the PS3 until Ace Combat: Infinity, a F2P game, comes out. The flight mechanics are decent, and different planes handle differently. But the overall production value could be improved (why isn't the AWACS antenna spinning in-game?). The content is quite hefty too. The story is quite decent (it's Tom Clancy after all), but you'll find the game too easy on the easiest diificulty. Crank it up to Elite, and you'll get an intense experience. That's what I played the first time, but then again, I'm not new to flying games. There are also over 50 planes to choose from, and you'll take a while to unlock them (I still haven't unlocked all). Online is extremely fun, but not many play it as much as back then. You can still find a full match though, if you're lucky. Overall, I think the game is worth a buy, especially that it's cheap nowadays. Haven't played HAWX 2 yet though, so stay tuned! Expand
