  1. If you're a fan of the franchise, genre, or good games, you owe it to yourself to pick this game up.
  2. Once you get a game going, the online aspect of Vegas far and away shines as the biggest selling point, but there's no discounting the single-player game either -- even if the ending is a little blah. Better late than never, Vegas rocks.
  3. The number of options you have on how to tackle each situation makes for some great unscripted moments, and the visuals and sound help create an atmosphere that wouldn't be possible on older hardware.
  4. 87
Vegas is very good, the only drawbacks coming from the slightly too short singleplayer campaign which can be dispatched in about 8-10 hours.
  5. 85
It's solid, pretty good-looking, and packs a thoroughly decent single-player campaign, too.
  6. It may not have the best graphics or story, but it's still great because it shines in the area it really cares about - tactical realism.
  7. 70
The gameplay feels as though it has mapped exceptionally well to the PS3's controller, unlike many other ports for the console. However, Rainbow Six has traditionally been a multiplayer-focused franchise, and it's here that the game disappoints.

This game was on sale on the PSN store, and so I bought it. Boy, this is one of the most challenging games I've ever played. Then again, this is my first R6 game, and I'm used to shooters like Call of Duty. The story is seemingly good. There were no subtitles to be enabled and it was difficult to hear dialogue due to gunfire and loud music (which can be adjusted). There's a twist towards the end but I did not really care because I wasn't paying attention (wish I was). But the gameplay is awesome and it really requires careful planning. It's possible to die in one shot, even on the easiest difficulty. There are still people playing this game online too. I found a full match at 1:00AM! Terrorist hunt is also fun. Haven't played coop yet, but the next time my friends come over to play, we're going to have a blast with 4 player split-screen coop. (Not many games nowadays have splitscreen anymore!). So, get this game, whether you are a fan of the series, love FPSes or coop games. I expect more from the upcoming R6 game, "Patriots". Expand

i did not like this game and i was just not able to get into it and gave up on the story after playing the first mission and was not impressed with the glitches and por sound quality which lagged behind the initial action. once i was finally able to get used to the controls (first game i had for PS3 and was not used to this style of control scheme) i played the terrorist mode and enjoyed that for a couple play throughs but then got bored and seeing no more play time on it in the near future i traded it in. I do not agree with the meta and user score here. Though I am not also tactical shooter fan but this game is very dull. Single player is really generic, you can also co-op the campaign with your friend but even that doesn't work so good. If friend dies, he will not spawn for long time, also if you both die you must watch lot of unskippable cutscenes. Also there is terrorist hunt, a survival or hunt them-type of game which is used in hundreds of titles before - nothing new here at all. Online lacks quality too. I liked the old Rainbow Six but here isn't anything interesting. Collapse

Graphics look cutting edge for a 1996 desktop PC game. This is the only PS3 game that I have played that just isn't any fun. Luckily I bought it for $5 used. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I had really big hopes for this game I've played the single player campaign and it's not good, very poor graphics and A.I. if you throw a grenade this one better fall close to an enemy and I mean close, on their pockets, to hurt them. It's a not a contest to see in which console a poor game looks better. The story makes no sense some times, let me elaborate, you are in Mexico fighting some sort of guerrilla and in a very bizarre way both your fully-equipped-bad-ass-expert-killing machines partners get kidnapped by a girl with no guns, you manage to escape and get rescued by another girl and then your superior tells you that you can't go back and rescue them instead you need to go to Vegas to fight more terrorists and that he feels that you may find your friends there! really?! To me this was a very GENERIC FPS it brings nothing new to the genre. Play it if you are curious about it that's all. Expand
