When Frozenbyte started its journey to create Trine 2, it's clear the studio decided to create the world it had always imagined. From the lush, beautiful visuals of the many exotic locales to the intricate puzzle designs, just like the waters that flow into this kingdom, the developer's passion can be seen, felt and heard; it's nothing short of magical. Stepping into the world of Trine 2 is much like stepping into one of the great Walt Disney's fairy tales, and shouldn't be missed.

A fun story, challenging puzzles, diverse levels and a charming atmosphere… A worthy successor to the well-received original.

Dazzling in design and addictive in the gameplay department, Trine 2 is a spectacular fantasy romp that shouldn't be missed by anyone with a penchant for high-quality platforming with a puzzling twist. It'll get you swinging, slicing, jumping and thinking as you venture towards the next gorgeous land ripe for exploration. Combat can be awkward and you'll fumble with the controls as you attempt to manipulate objects, but these are just minor blemishes on a downloadable title that simply shouldn't be missed.

Trine 2 throws players into a dazzling fantasy world and gives them three fun characters -- tools, really -- with which to save it. It's delightfully open-ended, from how you solve problems to whether or not you go it alone. Fans of puzzle games will not be disappointed.

A charming fantasy adventure bursting with soul. The platforming is 2D; everything else is deep and intuitive. [March 2012, p.113]

Trine 2 is one of those stellar games that falls just shy of elite status due to a few minor eccentricities and drawbacks, but that shouldn't deter you from giving it a try. It's absolutely one of the most attractive and rewarding games available on the PSN; it's pretty, slick, challenging, and even addictive. For those of you seeking the quintessential side-scrolling action puzzler with plenty of great elements and loads of appeal, look no further.

By adding in well-implemented online cooperative options to join the equally viable local multiplayer, Frozenbyte gives players the feature most requested after the original game's release, and every other element of the franchise moves forward in meaningful ways

This is the first game I've bought off the PSN without question. I played the demo and was really impressed with this game. Reminds me a lot of Capcom's Magic Sword for the CPS Arcade and SNES. This game is about 80% puzzle solving and 20% combat--both which are done very nicely! The graphics are colorful and very detailed, the gameplay and controls are very fluid and well-done, and the fun-factor is very high if you like retro-style 2D puzzle games.
