  1. If you're tired of killing zombies, soldiers, and aliens-- or zombified alien soldiers--then you'll appreciate dealing Turok's brand of Jurassic justice. Just be prepared for a level of difficulty that'll have you restarting at the same checkpoints more times than you can shake a fossilized stick at.
  2. Unfortunately, this first-person shooter revived from the N64 title doesn’t live up to the status of the original hit.
  3. The new and improved Turok is easily the best since it left its roots on the Nintendo 64. Even though the title takes great liberties with some of the lore it manages to retain its integrity while at the same time delivering on a completely over the top albeit predictable experience.
  4. It doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel, but working within its accepted elements it does a great job of dumping you in the jungle and making you feel like you’re fighting for your life.
  5. While the game really doesn’t introduce anything we haven’t already seen in a shooter, the dinosaur-filled world and the intriguing story of revenge are enough to keep this game from being a bore.
  6. Turok has a lot going for it in the next-generation, more than it did in the last generation with Turok: Evolution.

    90
Even with a weak script, Turok's flexible play mechanics, strong level designs, and high production values make the story mode alone worth the price of admission. [Jan 2008, p.49]
  8. Playstation: The Official Magazine (US)
    80
While Turok's adventure doesn't write the next great chapter in first-person action gameplay, it's a thoroughly solid, entertaining, thoughtfully-designed, and well-paced shooter. [Mar 2008, p.80]
  9. The atmosphere pulls you into the experience thanks to fantastic dinosaurs and great sound, being given the choice between straight-up gunning and stealth is most appreciated (the bow rules!), and the efforts made for accurate momentum physics don't go unnoticed. All of this means the positives outweigh the negatives by a large amount.
  10. Turok’s reinvention comes out with a positive balance. Those who are able to overlook the clichéd setting and the B movie side of things will enjoy an interesting and capable FPS, far from ground-breaking, but with some good moments.
  11. If you're after a challenging, graphically attractive, pure-action shooter that's a lot of fun in single-player, also blessed of long legs in the online multiplayer department, Turok is your sort of gig. A cinematic experience this is not; expect this sort of "ambitious" or "high art" game, and you'll be disappointed.

The single player campaign is a solid romp that will appease most shooter fans. But like I mentioned earlier there are frustrating moments throughout.

Turok is one of those games where as soon as you spot an enemy (even if they have their back turned to you) the enemy picks up their weapon Turok is one of those games where as soon as you spot an enemy (even if they have their back turned to you) the enemy picks up their weapon and shoots you and doesn't miss. This, I think, is the most frustrating part of the game. That and the look sensitivity. Totally strange. Dunno what it is. You will die ALOT. Yup Yup. And it has the stupidest pre-final battle i've ever seen. Extremely difficult. Won't be playing this one a second time. Full Review »

I really looked forward to play this game but it came down as a biiiiiiiiiig disappointment! Controls are just terrible! I play the first 3 Levels and then quit. I would not let this game destroy my good memories about the Turok games of the 90s and 2000 years! Full Review »
