Even with a weak script, Turok's flexible play mechanics, strong level designs, and high production values make the story mode alone worth the price of admission. [Jan 2008, p.49]
  2. The atmosphere pulls you into the experience thanks to fantastic dinosaurs and great sound, being given the choice between straight-up gunning and stealth is most appreciated (the bow rules!), and the efforts made for accurate momentum physics don't go unnoticed. All of this means the positives outweigh the negatives by a large amount.
  3. While the game really doesn’t introduce anything we haven’t already seen in a shooter, the dinosaur-filled world and the intriguing story of revenge are enough to keep this game from being a bore.

All the elements that make a decent console shooter are present in Turok: the sound, the gameplay, the weird and wonderful weaponry. They're all polished, but none of them are shining and the result is a shooter that should have been classic but is missing that vital spark that transforms a shooter from a bit of fun to a compelling and addictive experience.
  5. The thing that sucks is that you really don’t have much of an idea what is going with Turok or the enemy you are fighting against.
  6. The developers do a crappy job filling in the story's gaps, and much of the gameplay relies on trial and error, which leads to tons of unnecessary deaths.

Clichéd, generic, bland, boring and infuriating. [Mar 2008, p.120]

Good sound, nice graphics, and the story is right on par with Rambo. There will be no acting awards given out but it gets the job done. Good sound, nice graphics, and the story is right on par with Rambo. There will be no acting awards given out but it gets the job done. Pacing of the game is what you make of it. It can be a fast and furious twitch game or a slower paced strategic kill game where you use stealth and dinosaurs. Expand

The different guns, especially pinning guys down with the bow, or stabbing guys/Dinos with the knife. I hoped for splitscreen>I heard previous ones had it, but online is just as great. Although I'm pissed that 360 gets voice chat and PS3 doesn't. In conclusion: could've put more Dinos, there's only like 6-7 different types of dinos u see, and splitscreen (co-op/multiplayer) would've been nice. Expand

Turok is one of those games where as soon as you spot an enemy (even if they have their back turned to you) the enemy picks up their weapon Turok is one of those games where as soon as you spot an enemy (even if they have their back turned to you) the enemy picks up their weapon and shoots you and doesn't miss. This, I think, is the most frustrating part of the game. That and the look sensitivity. Totally strange. Dunno what it is. You will die ALOT. Yup Yup. And it has the stupidest pre-final battle i've ever seen. Extremely difficult. Won't be playing this one a second time. Expand

Bo-ring. THIS is the best idea you could come up with given such a great franchise? A bad rip-off of Aliens + Jurassic Park? Laa-aame.
