A fun quiz game that does exactly what it says on the tin and is good value for the money. [July 2008, p.87]
With three difficulty levels. There are several weeks worth of challenge here, making TV Show King much better value than its disc-based competitors. [Aug 2008, p.119]
Game show fans will easily get a kick out of the quirky gameplay, and it's definitely worth playing with a group of people who share an appreciation for the genre.
TV Show King has a great presentation but the quiz game design and writing do not quite reach the same level of quality. The bad bits stack up against the game: no buzzing in, stupid multiple choice options in the "normal" setting, and idiotic computer AI opponents who choose some of the more obvious wrong answers.
For all its limitations and tongue in cheek presentation, the actual quiz itself is fun, challenging and varied enough to warrant a place on your Wii Channel Home Page.
TV Show King is a quiz game, and it features questions. That basic level of expectance is all it manages to meet, and it's horribly clear that this is simply a "make do" release, put out there to mop up an existing market with the minimum of effort.
