With 12 new fighters and tons of extras along with several tweaks to existing fighters Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 is quite a value for $40!
  2. Nov 14, 2011
Still, in the end, it's all about the fighting. It was already good, and while it's not a dramatic shift, having more options only makes the game better. Whether it completely lives up to its title or not, this is the definitive version of MvC3, at least for now. Whether you own the original game or not, it's got a lot to offer.
  3. Nov 28, 2011
UMvC 3 is an outstanding game and an absolute must-buy for those who love the series but didn't buy MvC 3 for whatever reason. If you did buy it, then I would recommend waiting for a price drop unless you absolutely MUST recreate your favorite Strider Hiryu moments from MvC 2 - $40 is a fantastic price for those without MvC 3, but isn't so attractive if you already spent $60 on MvC 3.

Do you scour the internet daily for new combos or strategies to use in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, then you should buy this update blindly. There is no doubt about it: this ultimate edition of Capcom's beat 'm up is in every way superior to its predecessor. [December 2011, p.72]
  5. Nov 29, 2011
Capcom might be pushing their luck by releasing a Ultimate edition of a game that was already released early in the same year. However, it is this confidence that helps ease us into this timely update.
  6. Nov 22, 2011
If you own the previous game in the series, I would find it difficult to recommend this title, unless your a crazed fanboy of the Capcom fighting games and then it's a totally different story. However if you never played the previous game or missed the first two and you love fighters, than Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is definitely a game that you should investigate as not only does it pay homage to the classic "2D fighters" but the gameplay is quite flawless on the PS3.
  7. Nov 18, 2011
This Ultimate version is better than the original Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and hardcore fighting fans should consider it a must-have, although only nine months have passed since the original launch and this may upset some gamers.
  8. Nov 18, 2011
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 does for The original Marvel vs Capcom 3 what Super Street Fighter 4 did for Street Fighter 4. It's bigger and better in almost any way, especially in the mechanics and balancing departments.
  9. Nov 14, 2011
If you skipped out on Marvel vs. Capcom 3 earlier this year or simply heard about the Ultimate version and opted to wait it out, you'll find a lot to love in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

A rebalanced Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Are 12 new fighters and 9 new arenas worth the purchase? Tough call. But if you're a fan of fighting games and don´t own the original, you should get. It's definitely fun and offers a vast selection of fighters.
  11. Nov 14, 2011
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is the most complete entry in the series. A good choice if you skipped out on Marvel vs. Capcom 3 earlier this year.
  12. Nov 14, 2011
I would have liked to see an expanded tutorial mode, something beyond just showing players combos and such, but at the end of the day I am glad Capcom's main focus was improving the core gameplay even if it means skimping out on some of the more trivial features aimed at a more casual audience. For competitive players though, this is truly the ultimate version of the game, both in name and execution.

This update does bring a lot of new stuff to the table. If you haven't bought the original game yet, this is a must-buy for fighting fans. And even if you have, you shouldn't hesitate to get this.
  14. Dec 22, 2011
With a set of great new characters, some tweaking on the fighting mechanics and a superb online mode, the "Ultimate" version of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is a must buy for those who missed the original version.
  15. Nov 29, 2011
The transformations included in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 prove that this version is dedicated especially to fans and a good option for those interested in fighting games.
  16. Nov 25, 2011
A great expansion upon the original that expands on its strengths and fixes a lot of the weaknesses.
  17. Nov 24, 2011
If you're new to the over-the-top combat games and didn't yet try the Marvel vs. Capcom series, it would be pure madness to miss this one. On several levels, it's purely spectacular. But if you already payed Marvel vs Capcom 3 last february and are not a pro, maybe it's time to say no, thanks. Unless you're rich.
  18. Nov 18, 2011
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 adds some new characters to the previous roster, has a brand new balance between the fighters and corrects few major issues of Marvel vs Capcom 3. Capcom has done a good job with this update, but if you're not a fighting game addicted you should wait a price cut before buying it. 40 euros are definitely too many for a simple DLC.
  19. Nov 17, 2011
The visuals are great – as vibrant and colourful as you'd want from a game featuring comic characters – and overall it's tremendous fun to play. Perhaps not an essential upgrade if you already own Fate of Two Worlds, but nevertheless highly recommended.
  20. Nov 16, 2011
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is the best choice if you've not bought the original game, but there are no real reasons to justify a retail distribution instead of a DLCs package.
  21. Nov 16, 2011
There are three types of people who might want to get this game. The hardcore gamer has probably already pre-ordered it, so that's a no-brainer. The newbie who didn't get vanilla MvC3 gets to have all that and more for twenty bucks cheaper, so that's also a no-brainer. Then there's the casual gamer who already has a copy of vanilla MvC3. Make no mistake, you are buying the exact same game again, just with a lot more stuff added to it. If that's worth 40 bucks to you, then pick it up.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has never been a bad game, and neither is Ultimate. It's important that you know exactly what you're getting into, though. It's been built to appeal to a fan community of die-hard experts, who spent 10 years playing Marvel vs. Capcom 2 at increasingly high levels of performance, who own their own customized fighting joysticks and who've been researching their team for the new game for the last six months.
  23. Nov 16, 2011
Gloriously insane and surprisingly good value, it doesn't pretend to be the deepest fighter around but in the short term at least this is one of the most entertaining.
  24. Nov 15, 2011
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 might not be as much of an evolutionary leap forward as Super Street Fighter IV was to Street Fighter IV, but it's a step in the right direction.
  25. Nov 14, 2011
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 introduces a host of unique characters and gameplay tweaks that change the game's formula for the better.
  26. Nov 14, 2011
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 is still a spectacle, but compared to the first time around, the hype feels far more subdued.
  27. Nov 14, 2011
That's the story of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3: This is actually the game that the original should've been. If you've not played MVC3 or traded it in and want another fix, this is absolutely the best route to go. If you bought the original, how much do you love MVC? If you want more, go get it – the newcomers are great fun.
  28. Nov 14, 2011
Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 is an enormously enjoyable tag-team fighting game, let down by Capcom's poor sense of timing. Releasing the game so soon after the original leaves a sour taste, especially considering that the 12 new characters - the main attraction - could have been added as DLC.
  29. Nov 14, 2011
In the same way that a comic series reboot can offer new fans a good jumping-on point, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is the perfect choice for curious fighters to check out the most complete entry in the series.

It's the best, most complete version of MVC 3 to date. It's also something that could, and should, have been achieved via DLC alone. [Issue#212, p.95]
  31. Dec 1, 2011
But if you're doing just fine with non-Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and you can live without Ghost Rider, Nemesis, and Vergil, then I wouldn't recommend this for purchase at all. Hardcore fans and competitive players will likely feel that they need to own it and that's understandable, but they're on the short end of the stick as well.

More than enough for hardcore fans to justify the purchase. [Jan 2012, p.83]
  33. Dec 28, 2011
Without a doubt, Capcom has successfully re-marketed what should have been a series of downloadable content packs into a fully-fledged disc release.
  34. Dec 22, 2011
Despite whatever disagreements may come from its adjusted gameplay, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 can still be a fun game, and even more so with its amended online components.

Well CapcomI bought MVC3 on opening day and was very disappointed with it, mainly because of the online compared to super street fighter4. Well Capcom has brought out UMVC3 and I must admit that this is a solid game all round. Online is allot funner to play because now you can actually spectate matches instead of just waiting around in the lobby for matches to be over. The 12 new characters that they added are extremely cool to play with especially Iron fist who plays like a super hero version of feilong. I have been waiting for a fighting game that could take me from SSF4 for a long time and it looks like Capcom has done that for me with UMVC3. The game controls are easy to learn but UMVC3 gets very difficult when you compete at a competitive level so just be aware of that, definitely a game that makes you spend alot of time in the lab but the results are worth it if you are into fighting games. All of the things they could have done right with this game, and what do we get? They actually buff several top tier characters and nerf a couple bottom tiers. And in typical capcom fashion, they nerf wolverine to the point of uselessness rather than taking out the things that made him overpowered. And who asked for mashable hypers?! What exactly will that add to the gameplay?! And the new characters are just as scatter-shot as the balancing, there are some great picks (Vergil, Strider, Ghost Rider) some okay picks (Doctor Strange, Nova, Hawkeye) and WTF picks (Rocket Raccoon, Nemesis, Phoenix Wright). Don't even get me started on the "new" stages. Full Review »
