  • Summary: Vampire Rain: Altered Species is an intense game of stealth, survival and all out skill that takes place during a cold, wet night in a suburban, west coast city in the US. For some time now, mankind has been battling the ferocious and terrifying Nightwalkers, a race of superhuman vampires who crave human blood. People have been disappearing at night; the lucky ones are found dead, but those less fortunate are reborn as Nightwalkers, and are bound by instinct to forcefully recruit unwitting victims into the Nightwalker army. Gamers take the role of John Lloyd, a member of a US special government unit created to defeat the Nightwalkers, and the only human to ever survive a physical encounter with them. 1. While not the most ground breaking stealth title, Vampire Rain is worth a try for a stealth fan, even with its flaws.
  2. Like the vampires portrayed here, this game just plain sucks.

Vampire Rain: Altered Species has a lot working against it. Substandard AI, deficient visuals, exasperating difficulty and a host of other problems that make you wonder how much effort and care was actually poured into the game.
  4. The PS3 version fares no better than last year's abysmal 360 release.
  5. The whole thrill of stealth action is the ability to outsmart your opponent. So what does Vampire Rain do? It gives you singular, trial and error paths that has about as much variety as a prison meal.
  6. Often people complain about the expensive cost of the videogames, but paying 70 € for a great title don't seem to be excessive for anybody. However Vampire Rain costs 60€, which is offensive if you look at its quality. If after reading this review you continue thinking that Altered Species deserves an opportunity don't complain that we didn´t advise you… A title not only to forget, but also to avoid.

It's like the developers didn't even play the games they were blatantly ripping off.

Not as bad as everyone thinks. I enjoyed it for the most part. You have to like stealth games for sure because if you get seen and are without a shotgun you will die! Rent it from Gamefly if you are a vampire fan. Expand

I did finish the game. It was not amazing by any means, but overall I have way worse encounters. The biggest thing i took out of the expeirence was the rain dropping effects on the ground. As sad as that is. Expand

A 5.1 by the users? Thats being generous. The game has an uncanny resemblence to the Metal Gear Solid series and the Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell series. As awesome as the two mixed together would sound, this game proves us wrong. The commercial of the video game doesn't even show any gameplay. Its just a cliche horror movie scene. Altered Species, how about Altered Feces. Video Link = Expand

This is nonsensical indulgent garbage. I guess if you really want to help the economy go ahead and pick this one up. I'd rather watch paint dry.

Why does it have weapons? For one, your weapons do close to no damage at all, but the enemies kill you with one or two hits. And the crabby controls sure didn't help... Expand
