That it's available to anyone with a broadband connection for an extremely reasonable price point instantly places Wipeout HD in the must-buy/must-have category for anyone who considers themselves a fan of high-quality, high-speed, white-knuckle racing.
  2. WipEout HD is a remix in the most proper sense - it takes what made the series popular, gives it an ample layer of polish, and slaps on a hard-to-resist price tag.
  3. Though Wipeout HD isn’t exactly the new experience that Wipeout fans may have hoped for, the amazing visual and audio upgrades and the dearth of actual content and features make this another must have game on the PlayStation Network.
  4. 90
The lack of an Elimination mode constricts the variety of gameplay and no additional skin-editing functions is irksome, but these issues don't prevent WipEout HD from doing what the franchise does best: go really, really fast.
  5. It’s cheap, it’s fun, it’s challenging, and it’s a much less embarrassing way to relive the ‘90s than reuniting your old band.
  6. WipEout HD may not make the huge industry-changing impact it once did, but this is the most accessible entry to date (delivery method aside), and easily one of the most impressive technical demonstrations on the PS3.

You can read aboutThe sound, graphics, and presentation of this game are absolutely fantastic. For aesthetics it gets full credit completely. You can read about those anywhere, so I won't go into detail.

Unfortunately, it's a game you have to get into and learn fanatically to have any chance at winning. This would be great if I had to develop a skill set - I go nuts for deep and difficult games, like Demon's Souls for example, that make you concentrate and get better to win. But memorizing tracks is pure tedium, not any kind of creative design choice, and that's all the challenge comes down to. Whether or not you know what's coming up, and if you can run the track perfectly enough for that gold to advance to the next track, which you'll have to memorize in the exact same way. There's no depth at all to the skill, it's just whether or not you know exactly what to do for that particular track.

With some leeway and better difficulty options it would have been so much better to me, but as it is it's only for those who want to devote their lives to it for a few weeks. And that's why you haven't heard of it more, because it's impossibly difficult, and who wants to go through that just to win a game?

It's the most addictive racer I've played since Mario Kart, Like that game, it keeps things simple, but it trades cutesy graphics for futuristic high tech ones, has an expansive single player campaign with lots of modes and unlockables, as well a pretty decent online mode. And it's only $20.00!!! SO worth a 10. Expand

Wipeout HD is a looong time coming, i remember seeing and reading about this game shortly after the release of the ps3. I've always Wipeout HD is a looong time coming, i remember seeing and reading about this game shortly after the release of the ps3. I've always enjoyed the WIpeout games and considered them to be a alternative to the the bright colorful futuristic racer that is F-Zero on the Nintendo consoles, i enjoyed Wipeout a bit more because of its more serious tone and physics. That aside, Wipeout HD is a TREAT for fans of the series with a buttery smooth 60fps and gorgeous 1080p visuals that will make you wanna hug your HD-TV. The music and sound effects are nothing amazing but they hold up to the graphics rather well. Controls are smooth and responsive and for newer fans they have a handicap mode to assist you in turns so you aren't bouncing around like youre in a pinball machine. Overall, im VERY pleased with this.....for nostalgia sake its a must to own this if you enjoyed games in the series as this is the definitive Wipeout experience with its slick graphics and excellent controls, and at $39.99.....it feels JUUUUST RIGHT.
