  1. With so much history behind the Wolfenstein series, it can be quite difficult to live up to the legacy of the games that came before you. The latest entry in the series does a fantastic job of this, from its gorgeous graphics to its solid story line; everything is well thought out and well executed. With the potential for additional multiplayer maps thrown in, this is a great value overall.
  2. A really good FPS, which borrows interesting elements from GTA-style sandboxes. The weapons, veil-abilities and enemies are excellent. The multiplayer-experience is nothing special, though. [Aug 2009]
  3. While some missions are by the number, you will find yourself enjoying the action and supernatural twist that will keep you playing to the very end and well into the night thanks to the online multiplayer. This is definitely a Must Have for any FPS fan.
  4. If you’re looking for a different way to blast those same Nazis you’ve been battling for years, look no further than this fun and exciting shooter.
  5. Spot-on Wolfenstein atmosphere combines with gleefully vicious weaponry to serve up a tasty smoothie of good old-fashioned Nazi-frying. It lacks in the new idea department, but it has fun aplenty.
  6. Although the Wolfenstein series has an excellent reputation, we were a bit skeptical before the review. But Wolfenstein offers brilliant, intense action with B.J. Blazkowicz, the Nazi Terminator. So the skepticism quickly turned into a hell-ride of fun.
  7. The single-player campaign is a lot of fun, though rather short. Multiplayer and lots of hidden objects help to extend the fun. Still, you'll be done with the game after a few weeks.
  8. Even though its held back by a lack of unrealised theatrics, Wolfenstein’s still one of the only games that lets you dish death to the Nazis in bold and imaginative ways.

If you're into WWII shooters -- and judging by the sales of every single Call of Duty title ever, you are -- but you're looking for something with a little twist to it -- which, judging by the sales of twisty straws, you are -- and you don't mind the color green -- and judging by the number of Irish people in the world, you don't -- you should get yourself a copy of Wolfenstein.
  10. It's no Call of Duty, true, but then CoD doesn't let you tear apart giant monsters with machine gun turrets or battle Nazis in a zeppelin, does it? [Nov 2009, p.66]
  11. It's familiar enough in spots, but the way the Veil powers function gives everything just enough of a tweak to feel exciting.
  12. 80
Again, it's nothing new but the weapons and powers are interesting enough that, if you put in the work, the reward is there. But it probably won't make you forget about Modern Warfare or Halo 3 or Killzone 2 or whatever online FPS you're currently hooked on.
  13. Wolfenstein is an awesome blend of old-school memories and next-gen ideas assembled into a rewarding game experience you can’t afford to miss. Just don’t plan on heading online anytime soon.
  14. Not only does Wolfenstein recreate a little dab of this magic, its embraces the world of magic and the supernatural to give this old standard a fresh perspective.
  15. 78
High def graphics aside this could almost be five or even ten years old in terms of game design but it matters not a jot because its also genuinely fun to play.
  16. Wolfenstein might not hold up to Call of Duty in terms of sales, but Activision’s other WWII shooter still has plenty of interesting ideas to please any fan. With powerful weapons at your disposal, supernatural powers with the help of The Veil, and plenty of eerie Nazi soldiers to kill, the fun never stops.
  17. Wolfenstein is entertainment. It isn’t a revolutionary experience, and there are a lot of games out there which are better looking, but it doesn’t have any big flaws either.
  18. A not bad, but not great, return to one of the longest running shooter series of all time.
  19. In conclusion, Wolfenstein is a sturdy game with some very impressive graphics, however in terms of offering the gaming community something new, it's unfortunately lacking in this department.
  20. Despite the few complaints I have about Wolfenstein, particularly the dated graphics and terrible A.I., when it comes right down to core gameplay it is a fun, solid and satisfying FPS that will appeal to those looking for a straight up shooter with few bells and whistles.
  21. Nazis and necromancy mix once again in this flawed but fun sequel.
  22. 75
Yet another surprise hit for 2009, this could be the game that tides you over until the summer blockbusters arrive. Wolfenstein may not be a Killzone 2 killer, but it's an action-packed romp full of powerful weaponry, bad accents, and Nazi-zombie killing glee.
  23. 75
The action is about as tight as in World at War, but the hub town kills the momentum. In exchange, though, you get demonic Nazis and fun retro-scifi weapons. If you can't get enough FPS action, and can't wait for Modern Warfare 2, this is worth twelve hours of your life.
  24. The fact that it came near its former greatness is almost more disappointing than if it had been terrible; with a few original ideas, this could have been the must-have shooter of the summer. Instead, Wolfenstein offers a weekend or so of entertainment, but will quickly be forgotten in the onslaught of triple-A titles coming later this year.
  25. Nobody will be surprised with the new chapter in the Wolfenstein’s series, but its classic gameplay is funny.
  26. It is hands down a good game, providing in every aspect and it is very enjoyable, but it has too many superior rivals, which to be fair is not its fault.
  27. Basically, don't pick up Wolfenstein for the multiplayer, especially if you're hoping for some type of Return to Castle Wolfenstein experience out of it. It's fun, and worth checking out, but hardly competitive or well polished. Instead, you'll be buying this game primarily for the single player experience, which isn't without it's own set of faults, but still manages to be fun despite that.
  28. 75
Those new abilities feel a little gimmicky at times, but when considered together with the multiplayer, Wolfenstein provides enough firepower and over-the-top storytelling to satiate anyone's desire for occult, alternate history action.
  29. It's a polished, highly entertaining shooter with a unique setting and loads of Nazis just waiting to be mowed down. It may not be game of the year material, but it's one of the better shooters this year.
  30. Speaking of strategy, Wolfenstein is in dire need of a new one. Grinding through waves of predictable enemies in corridors is no way to pay homage to the franchise’s unquestioned legacy in the genre.

I really really WANTED to like this game! Deep down though regardless of overall good reviews I had a feelingthat it would suck which is why II really really WANTED to like this game! Deep down though regardless of overall good reviews I had a feelingthat it would suck which is why I checked the redbox online all day until one was in my area. So glad I went that route! This game would be great as a dl arcade game but as a full price game hell no! It's just kill a bunch of people, cut scene, kill more people. The mechanics themselves aren't bad but there is very little variety in terms of weaponry and paths to take. Also the graphics are almost as bad as any Nazi war crime ever committed! Absolutely unacceptably bad! I guess this game will survive if you are into mediocre mindless killing but these days most gamers are which is why the game industry puts out such trash anymore because the average consumer eats it up! All in all, pretty bad but not ENTIRELY horrible! If you have an average attention span and I.Q. expect to be entertained for about 2 hours tops! Full Review »
