When I first began playing World Gone Sour, I was disappointed with the technical flaws of the game. But as I progressed, it started to stick to me like the wet gummy I was controlling. Perhaps it's the hilarious product branding, or the ability to send Sour Patch Kids to their doom, or maybe it's the fact that this simple adventure is only five bucks.

The worlds are fun to explore and navigation captures the right balance between challenging and doable. Checkpoints are generous and things you've already killed or collected stay that way so backtracking isn't an issue.

World Gone Sour just goes to remind us all about the reputation licensed games have earned over the past decade or two: They suck. And this is a sweet-and-sour steamer.

Control issues taint the overall experience of the otherwise enjoyable World Gone Sour.

Whether alone or with a friend via local co-op, World Gone Sour can be strangely satisfying. While it's a game that has its own set of problems, and while those problems hold the overall experience back, we're talking about a five dollar download here.
  6. For a $5 download, there is some morbid fun to be found, but the flaws can be quite rage inducing. [July 2012, p.85]

The very definition of a pleasant surprise, World Gone Sour proves that the advergame doesn't have to live in the land of mediocrity. For a mere 5 bucks, this is a sold platformer with a wicked sense of humor.
