  1. SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 easily represents the biggest leap forward for the series. While previous entries certainly piled on the match types and character rosters, the new creation aspects of SvR 2010 make it the best and most immersive WWE video game experience to date.
  2. Absolutely worth picking up if you're a wrestling fan, and definitely a big step in the right direction for the series.
  3. Playstation: The Official Magazine (US)
It's clear that the user-creation tools, mixed with the improved base game, will make this the SVR that lasts you into next year. [Dec 2009, p.70]
  4. With the long-overdue additions of a story-creation mode and an online community, SvR2010 is a massive step forward for the series’ already-rich feature set, while still continuing the steady improvement of its in-ring fundamentals.
  5. 90
It doesn't reinvent the wheel with new gameplay mechanics or revamped graphics, but WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 excels once again as the definitive pro wrestling game on the market. Fans of the series and pro wrestling alike should definitely put it in their queues.
  6. It seems like Yuke’s is finally starting to understand exactly what the WWE gamer wants out of their wrestling game as WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 2010 introduces a number of changes and improvements fans have wanted for years.
  7. Although it is always quite difficult to judge a videogame that has no term of comparison other than itself, we can state the fact that WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 marks a big step forward for the whole franchise, introducing improved graphics, improved collision system and improved gameplay as a whole.
  8. WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 is the best iteration in the series in years. The franchise manages to be focused not only on hardcore wrestling fans but on a more generic community too.
  9. Once again THQ have done something that we were not expecting and have shaken up the franchise with a variety of twists and turns.
  10. The level of detail, the foresight that went into planning the Story Designer and character creator, the Training Facility to catch newbies up to speed without dumbing the game down for franchise vets...the title really has it all.
  11. 85
The gameplay tweaks are welcome and make the experience feel fresh, the presentation is straight from TV, the load times are better than ever, the Road to WrestleMania is still great, you can create your own logos, and the ability to share your stories and characters is invaluable...WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 might not be the greatest wrestling game of all time, but it’s definitely the best the world’s seen in years.
  12. Aside from some lingering issues with the gameplay and horrendous online issues, it’s a well-crafted game that should satisfy fans of the series, and bring back those who have lost faith in it in the past.
  13. These fans are the ones that will appreciate the little changes the most, but SmackDown vs. RAW 2010 is a solid title whether you have a closet full of Austin 3:16 shirts or just catch the occasional episode of RAW. [Nov 2009, p.97]
  14. 83
SVR 2010 is the ultimate wrestling gamer's sandbox. And the combination of one of the most finely tuned 3D wrestling engines with the ability to create and download so much new content, makes 2010 the best SmackDown title to date.
  15. It’s easily the best game in the series, and well worth playing, but one has to wonder how many more times THQ can get away with ever-so-slightly improving what is, essentially, the same game.
  16. This year edition is once again a good fighting game, with lots of personalization and depth in combat. Graphics are getting really old though, and there's yet a lot to be accomplished from the dev team.
  17. PSM3 Magazine UK
Some new features, but little innovation on the actual canvas. [Dec 2009, p.98]
  18. 82
Smackdown vs RAE 2010 is more of the same, but the most complete edition in years, and the one that has included more content.
  19. Overall, WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 2010 is a great wrestling game. The gameplay is more of the same, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it’s all of the new creation tools that really make the game shine.
  20. Playstation Official Magazine UK
As a pure fighting experience, this can't compete with its MMA counterpart. But there's so much to do that the actual wrestling is often secondary...It's those rich, user-generated elements that make this the deepest, most playable WWE game yet. [Nov 2009, p.114]
  21. Easily the best game in the series to date, and a must-buy for WWE fans - especially if you've been giving it a wide-berth for a few years. The controls are refined, the game modes are plentiful, the presentation is top class and the customisation features will excite the little kid in WWE fans the world over.
  22. Smackdown vs Raw 2010 is a fun, well presented title which will appeal to core fans of the genre but shouldn’t be overlooked by casual players.
  23. The new episode of Smackdown vs. Raw is rich, entertaining and more polished than ever. The community element is well implemented and represents a nice touch for a game based on that huge live TV show known as wrestling.
  24. The collision detection seems off sometimes and the game isn’t exactly an example of original gameplay, but this is the game you need to buy if you want to get to know the WWE-franchise. Smackdown vs. Raw can be played by anyone thanks to the simple gameplay and is also a looker. The game is also filled with different modes and options to make your own content to share it with friends online.
  25. Playstation Official Magazine Australia
The amount of content you’ll reap from the create-a-wrestler alone will astound. If WWE’s your thing, welcome to nirvana. [Dec 2009, p.76]
  26. WWE SmackDown! vs RAW 2010 on the one hand is spectacular and rich in passion; on the other hand, it's almost the same game since years ago. The story editor is a great addition as it lets you upload your creations on the game's servers or download the ones created by other players. The online multiplayer is awful, with several lag problems. If you like wrestling games, this one is still the best you can find... but it desperately needs a change for the future.
  27. Play UK
It still runs on pretty much the same clunky fight engine that it had for years. [Issue#185, p.74]
  28. It looks like the “same procedure as every year“, but it works again. We like the new Smackdown vs. Raw 2010, but we would prefer better graphics in the next season.
  29. The enhanced character models, lightning-fast loading times, authentic WWE presentation, reconfigured match types, better CAW stat-building, the new Story Designer, and the online upload/download server mean that most fans of the franchise will clothesline anyone who gets in their way to the register. But just as many fans will be disappointed by the CAW point system, CAW restrictions in Story Designer and as downloadable characters, gender restrictions, the ho-hum Career mode, and the polished but still linear Road to Wrestlemania.
  30. An intriguing new creation tool and widespread refinements make it another good year for Smackdown vs. RAW, but it still hasn't received the overhaul that it needs.
  31. With so many long-desired improvements and completely new features, SvR 2010 may be the best game of the series.
  32. THQ wrestling series is a little bit tired. This new chapter does not add any interesting feature to the standard formula.

The problem is that nothing really newTo me this game is good, but only if you play it with friends. Playing against the AI just isn't fun. The problem is that nothing really new of innovative has been done to this particular series for so many years now. What the game really needs is a total redo, that uses euphoria physics instead of no physics. The game needs to be more intuitive and immersive, rather than "Oh that guy is doing a grapple with that other guy, I can't attack either of them until they finish their animation", which is really bad. The create you're own content tools are sort of alright, but the create-a-superstar is very time consuming due to the model having to reload every time you chance something about it.

I would personally recommend this to anyone with 2-5 other friends that they would be able to play it with, because otherwise it will get very tiresome very quickly.

If you enjoyed all of them up until SDvsR, and then enjoyed SDvR2006 before the franchise really took a nose-dive in quality in 07,08 & even 09, then 10 will make up for a number of the past stupidities. You can perform 20 front standing moves again instead of just 14, the variety of moves is very good this year, the CAW is also good, even though I feel the variety of short haircuts became quite limited this year. On top of that, as a fan of Mitsuharu Misawa I was pleased to see they included his tights in the selection - however, they didn't bring back the Tiger Driver '91 which was available in the earlier smackdown games as "The Dangerous Driver", it became difficult to recreate AJPW's main event from the 1990s, as well as some other wrestlers from NJPW & pro wrestling NOAH (so that I could create a puroresu invasion in story designer...KENTA is quite easy to make though) and some of the more awesome Create-A-Finisher variations are not in it anymore, which was a let down, making me give it 8 instead of 10 Full Review »
