A youthful Assassin, Shao Jun, fled to the West to complete her training under the legendary Assassin Ezio Auditore in the animated short Assassin’s Creed Embers and has returned, determined to restore the Chinese Brotherhood of Assassins. In Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China, players come back to Shao Jun’s story as she returns to China hell-bent on retribution. Her story takes players to famous locales including the Maijishan Grottoes, Port of Macau, the Forbidden City and the Great Wall of China. Armed with stealth, agility and a combination of deadly weapons and equipment including a sharp and swift jian, a secret shoe blade, lethal rope darts and daggers, players deliver payback to those who decimated the Chinese Brotherhood of Assassins. This $10 standalone game is far longer than most $60 games, and I still have the New Game Plus mode to try and unlock the rest of Shao Jun’s abilities.

The first Chronicles entry isn’t perfect, but it’s a good starting point.

A decent change of pace for the franchise. The goals are more focused and deliver some great stealth gameplay across the approximately five hours it takes to complete. With all the open world distractions stripped away I felt like I was playing a proper assassin-based title, with the only focus being to take out the target.

This has not become the game people were hoping for. The choice to make it a 2.5D sidescroller is a good one, as many of the issues with 3D-games are now a force behind this one. In a way ACC: China is a very entertaining platform game, but the voice-overs are odd and the game asks a lot of patience of you.

It’s not a must-have game, even for Assassin’s Creed fans, but I had more fun with it than with Rogue. [06/2015, p.54]

That is kind of the way Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China feels like in general — it starts out okay, but soon becomes dull fairly quickly thanks to a lackluster plot and uninspired gameplay.

Pero cada uno tiene una historia cautivadora, al igual que los demás AC; al ser 2.5D, mucho de lo que vimos en anteriores entregas cambia, pero sigue manteniendo ese aire que hizo popular a la saga.

    Muy bueno

It has its ups and downs and in my opinion it is far more different than any other Assassin's Creed game as it is mostly based on stealth rather than killing your enemies. Although it did glitch a few times but at rare moments. The controls (PC) are a bit complicated at times as they get confusing when you need to do some consecutive button pressing at a time. The A.I. is a little easy to predict on what it is going to do so basically the game isn't hard at all. Two more of these will be released later this year and as an Assassin's Creed fan I recommend this to fans of the main franchise rather than newcomers who never played Assassin's Creed before. Expand

But it would've been better if the game was more great and the development time fixed.

However, it's still great by its nature. Similar battle system and gameplay gets you back on the road in no time. Although, the AI is somewhat annoying and the story is bleak.

Clearly someone had a vision for this game, and it just didn't get fleshed-out completely. The game is woefully predictable in every way, and the absolutely terrible A.I makes it way too easy. The platforming mechanics are shoddy as well, and it's totally inexcusable when you consider this is the same developer that brought us "Rayman Legends" and "Child of Light" which are great platformers. As a former fan of the series, I'm just getting tired of Ubisoft cashing-in on the Assassin's Creed name. If I was uncertain about whether to get excited about AC: Victory, ACC: China made-up my mind for me. The AC franchise has hit an all-time low, and lately Ubisoft's incompetence level is at an all-time high. Seriously, what are they thinking!? Expand
