Battlefield 4 is stout entry to the series and a strong addition to the PlayStation 4 launch lineup. As the first game to demonstrate the prowess of the Frostbite 3 engine, its explosive debut indicates a promising future for its technology. Gear up and strap in, Battlefield 4 sets the new standard for next-generation multiplayer.

Battlefield 4 is an excellent multiplayer FPS with wildly varied vehicles and interesting maps. [Jan 2014]
  3. It’s a shame DICE still treads the B-grade storytelling path with its single-player game, otherwise Battlefield 4 would be dangerously close to shooter perfection. [Christmas 2013, p67]

Multiplayer as its best, but the campaign is a total disappointment.

While featuring a mostly forgettable single player, the characteristics of multiplayer in Battlefield 4 works so well making the DICE title the reference in a competitive context, as well as a real game changer from a technical point of view.

Battlefield 4 feels like more of a ‘true’ Battlefield game when compared to its predecessor, aping that sandbox arena fun that made 1942 such a hit. Thanks to the power of PlayStation 4, we finally have a PC Battlefield experience on a home console, and it’s pretty darn good.
  7. The issues aren’t ruinous, and in the case of the multiplayer more an inconvenience that EA needs to address than anything else – but it’s enough to take the shine off what should be one of the best shooters on PS4.

Battlefield 4's dazzling debut on the PS4 begins in spectacular fashion. It looks stunning and plays awesome. It's a damn fine start and step-up. The frostbite engine is fantastic and pays off in some style as graphically it takes it to a whole other level. It's of the highest quality! The single player campaign is short and sweet but still good fun even if it feels like a missed opportunity because multiplayer is magnificent. It's vintage Battlefield at it's supreme addictive best. Each game mode brings a variety that keeps it fresh enough to play over again and never tire. The game feels and runs greatly, ofcourse there has been complains regarding online but having played it, I can only report that it's been utterly brilliant and nonstop. I've had no issues. All i can say is multiplayer is massive and marvellous! CoD may have came along and be setting world records but the quality is the key here, Battlefield is a total triumph and healds & shoulders above it's rival! With more DLC to come it's safe to assume things can only get bigger and better! The only disappointment is that DICE have missed a great chance with it's storytelling in single player, there was a chance to make Battlefield 4 the ultimate shooter! Expand

I really, really want to like this game. But alas, the single player was short, and began feeling like more and more of a chore as a trudged through it to get weapons for multiplayer, and the multiplayer itself is unreliable in performance. I have really good internet, and it's still laggy as all hell. Texture pop-ins plague the game, and frequent audio cut outs subtract from immersion. Don't get me wrong, when it works, it works, but damn. That's only 20-30% of the time. This game is fun, but until EA and DICE salvage what they can from this abhorrent, unreliable, and all around frustrating mess of something that could be so much more, it is definitely not worth the 60$ asking price, let alone the extra bucks to get Premium. This game was rushed, but I can assure you my review was not. Shame on you, DICE. Shame on you, EA. Expand

As a huge Battlefield fan, I had been anticipating this game long before its release. I pre-ordered this game for my PS3 and in the pre-order was a free upgrade to the China Rising map pack. After upgrading to the PS4 around Christmas, I transferred all of my stats over to my PS4, but ended up losing my China Rising DLC. This would not be the end of my frustrations. There are MANY glitches in this game. Upon the most common are Invisible characters, floating characters, muted audio, severe spawning issues, and many other annoying glitches as well. The majority of the glitches have been a problem only when playing TDM, but in Conquest, there are severe lagging issues on certain maps. However, I still find this game to be one of the best First-Person Shooters out there. The graphics are amazing and the weapons and vehicles are very realistic. They also offer alot of awesome customization options for vehicles and characters such as vehicle paint, uniform Camo, and many different types of weapons attachments. If it wasn't for all of the glitches I've experienced in online play, this game would undoubtedly be a 10 in my book. Expand

With the arrival of Next Generation Consoles, we were expected to get strong launch titles and Battlefield 4 was supposed to be one of them, but is it truly a good game worthy of it's stature in the video game market? Is it worth buying? Well, here's my opinionated review on this game.
Like all other "shoot 'em up", mainstream media, first person games, Battlefield had an easily forgettable campaign that lacked focus or plot. The campaign also had other issues like certain missions crashing and not saving files on the ps4. The developers Dice apologized for this and updated the game ultimately fixing the problem, but this review should be on how the game performed at launch, not how it performs now.
The reason Battlefield games are so popular is because of it's realism and it's massive scale, modern warfare play style multiplayer. I feel as though Battlefield could have been immensely better if Dice (the developers) spent more time polishing their final product. Often times, I felt like I was just playing battlefield 3, because not a lot changed from both of the games.
To summarize battlefield 4, I'll say it was a mediocre game with it’s pros and cons. It’s pros were offering a massive multiplayer experience and it’s realistic graphics and it’s flaws were basically everything else about this game.

If I was to review this game on the game itself I would probably give it an 8 or a 9 but to be completely honest I can not in good faith give such a review.

Battlefield 4 is great and looks very pretty...when it works. EA/DICE (mostly EA) has yet again dropped the ball on another triple A title.

When the game works the visuals are fantastic, the 1080p looks amazing and the sounds are equally amazing. I've had the chance to play some domination online and as expected the experience was great but what Battlefield fans are looking for is the signature modes of rush and conquest, I was able to join a couple of games in these modes but was promptly disconnected from EA with in minutes of starting the match, this then sometimes generates an error that forces you to close the application all together and in turn corrupting your save file.

DICE is not without its faults as well, they have gone above and beyond to promote the fact that BF4 is all about teamwork and going lone wolf would be difficult to do. For some reason though DICE has neglected to add a party system on Battlefield 4 like there was on Battlefield 3 where you can get a bunch of your friends together and then create squads and join servers together. No where on BF4 is there a place to do this, instead you have to join on one friend who is on a server and hope that there is enough room for you to at least get in the game never mind being on the same team as him.

If you're looking to buy this game I would say to wait for now. DICE I'm sure is working on the issues that is plaguing this game not only for PS4 but PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 as well (I'm sure Xbox one will have its issues but that has not been released during the writing of this review). Hold on to your hard earned money until you know for sure that the game has been fixed to at least be playable, I know there's always going to be minor issues that have to be fixed in the background but as of right now this game, in my opinion is broken.

Once BF4 is fixed then I will write another review and I'm sure the score will be a lot higher. In my eyes though the game will never be a 10 because of all the issues caused by poor quality control.

The campaign is very bad. I write anything about that. That's not even to be mentioned value

The multiplayer has too many bugs:
Rubberbanding, Netcode Problems, Bad gameplay, Crashes,Framerate problems, Hitbox bugs and many more Problems.

This Premium is a joke for this game. This Game is too buggy to pay money for it.

    1/10. Bad Buy
